We worked with Phil, who was thoughtful in his approach, i.e. reluctant to propose too much work until his men could report first hand on the condition of the roof/gutters. We knew that he was backed up (we called him right around the time of wind/snow storms), but the first warm, clear day, his team arrived like a SWAT team and did all the work in a single day. I need to single out Trevor, who replaced the shingles very effectively, especially since it turned out we didn't have as many shingles left over from the original job as we had thought. We look forward to hearing from Phil about an estimate on repairing another part of the roof.

Duffy Roofing provided superior service on my job from start to finish. I called them after getting their name from Angie's list. Phil came down on Saturday to look at the job in order to accomodate my schedule. After looking at the job, a flat, leaking, side roof that a previous roofer had neglected to repair, it was clear Phil understood the what needed to be done, and where the potential hazards of this job lay. He explained that Duffy Roofing would do the job to the highest standards in the industry and guaranteed both verbally and in writing that this roof would be fixed properly. Phil communicated with me throughout the process. There were no surprises or unanswered questions. Since my roof was leaking they prioritized my job and got me on the schedule two days later so that the job would be done before the next rain. When they were doing the job they were careful to protect my landscaping and to disturb my tenants as little as possible. The work they did is beautiful from the rubber roof to the flashing on the sidewall. Even though it has been a relatively short time since my work was done I am confident that there will be no leaks. Phil has already called me to let me know that it will rain hard this weekend and I will be able to see how tight the roof is. That is the kind of pride that tells me not only that this is good work but also if by some chance there were a problem I could pick up the phone and Phil and the crew would be down here to fix it. Duffy was not the cheapest bid I received but the cheaper bids left a lot of room for extra charges. Since Duffy charged my exactly what the basic quote was and there were no extra charges it ended up being the cheapest and best option. I would look forward to calling Duffy Roofing in the future for any roofing job I had big or small in the future.

. After the job was completed the leak continued to happen. Phil came over a couple of times, and finally he opened the ceiling to discover that the leak was not related to a problem with the roof. Phil was always very professional, courteous and responsive. Even though the problem turned out not to be related to the roof he continued to help and suggest other solutions.

Hurricane Sandy claimed some shingles on our roof vent, leaving a small hole in our roof. Phil came out, checked with me that we already had the materials we needed, and gave us a reasonable quote. Phil was great to work with, explained the situation fully, and gave us a really reasonable quote. That visit was on a Thursday morning and at the time, he noted that he could get a team out early the next week. The next morning I got a call from Phil that he could do the work that day (Friday). He explained that he had been thinking about us the previous night, had found out that the weather forecast called for rain all weekend, and wanted to get the repair in for us before the rain. Fantastic service. I will mention that it took a few days for Duffy to get back to me after my initial call. However, as Phil explained, they were quite busy post-hurricane and were having trouble keeping up with all the requests. To their credit, however, they were the only company that responded at all to our inquiries so it's hard to fault them much for this. Our job was a small one and I appreciated that Duffy was willing to do the work, especially for the good price they quoted. I won't hesitate to call them again if we need roofing service again.

I had Phil of Duffy Roofing give me an estimate a few years ago, I instead choose the low bidder. After leaks started to develope in the third floor I knew I needed a roofer again. Phil Buzwell was the same estimater and he remembered me. He got a crew out the same day, he explained what the last contractor did not do and what he could do to make it right. I only wish Duffy Roofing did sheetrock work (I have a lot of water stains). Instead of the "I told you so" attitude I had expected, all Phil asked is that I tell my neighbors what great work they do. Well they are good, they are reasonable and the whole crew acts in a professional way.

We have a historic home, and it was important to us to have a company that had experience in working on older homes. The work was done quickly and professionally, and clean up was excellent. What impressed us most about Duffy Roofing was the communication and responsiveness. This was a large job that we planned for in advance. We contacted many roofers - most of whom were unresponsive and/or did not provide detailed estimates or explanations. Some bids were lower, but were hard to evaluate based on lack of detail. Phil Buswell was outstanding in his responsiveness and attention to our questions. We started our roofing project the day after we closed on our house, and the job was completed within a week. We have confidence that in the unlikely event there are problems down the road, Duffy will help us solve them. We were very pleased with every aspect of our experience with Duffy Roofing.

Phil was very quick to respond to my initial inquiry, came by a couple of days later for estimate. Although it was extremely busy period for roofers due to wide spread damages by Hurricane Sandy, he was quick to schedule my work. Phil is extremely responsive via both email and phone, and easy to get hold of him. When you deal with Duffy Roofing, you talk with live person rather than an answering machine. The crew worked hard and fast, and was professional. They left no debris behind. I will have to wait until next storm or big snow to see how well the new roof will hold up, but it looks great and the work seems to be of high quality. I highly recommend Duffy Roofing.

I contacted Duffy roofing and had a call-back from Phil within the day. He was nearby and had taken a few a minutes out of his day to quickly examine our roof from the street, so when I called he was able to send me a contract with a quote for the job. He came over the following Monday to sign the contract and we had his team at our house on Tuesday. They finished the entire job before early afternoon. Highly professional, quick to respond, and easy to work with! The job was top-notch and we'll be using them from here on out for our roofing needs.

My Duffy came by, was prompt and very stratighforward with his assessment.

They did the work in approximately one day. They kept me informed all the way about the schedule and the progress and were very pleasant and very professional. I cannot judge the quality but I believe it is excellent.

Start was great... with no finish what so ever.

I noticed a leak coming into my upstairs bathroom and knew it had to be the roof. Duffy replaced onone- half of my roof (not the part near the leak) in 2007 and they did a great job. I called Phil at Duffy on the morning that Hurricane Sandy hit and he came over the next day, gave me an estimate and had his crew over to do the job the very next day. I was delighted because I know they had tons of calls due to hurricane damage, but they were able to take care of me right away. The crew was fast, efficient, and I am very happy.

They have been very professional so far.

I got someone from Duffy Roofing to come out and give me an estimate. After we'd walked around the house and I'd shown him what needed repairing he said he would send me a written estimate in the next few days but I didn't hear back from him, so about a week later I called and again he said that he would send me an estimate the next day. I never heard back from him. I don't know if he just didn't want to do the job, or couldn't do the job but it would have been more professional if he'd let me know that he was no longer available. I was left with the impression that he's not a legitimate business.

There were no leaks and no problems. They guys got the job done and I was pleased with my experience.

Our building is home to an animal clinic which is open six days a week. The Duffy Roofing crew was attentive to the needs of our staff, clients and neighbors. They were willing to begin the project on a Sunday when we were closed (though the weather didn't cooperate with that plan.) They completed the project in 2 1/2 days. When finished, the yard was completely cleared of debris, with no evidence that they'd been there. The roof looks good and our copper ornament has been preserved and reinstalled on top of our tower.

The roof replacement went well and I'm completely satisfied with the work. The only negative is that it was a little difficult getting in touch with them -- I prefer to use email instead of phone, but Duffy's website makes this difficult, and Duffy's sales rep pretty much only uses the phone. But I would not hesitate to use Duffy again. I asked Duffy's rep to come look at the house to (a) evaluate how long the current roof would last and (b) clean the gutters and make minor repairs. When he looked at the roof he (a) estimated two years of service life left before replacement would be needed, and (b) provided a quote for $1400 to clean the gutters, repoint the chimney, re-cement the vents, and install a new bathroom vent fan. The rep gave me a two-week window for the gutter-cleaning job (explaining that they are able to fit in smaller jobs like mine around their larger jobs plus the vagaries of the weather) and ended up coming out pretty quickly. During the gutter job they replaced part of a damaged drain pipe at no extra cost. Once the workers were on the roof they discovered that the roof was in much worse shape than the rep originally thought. The rep contacted me the next day to explain why his two-year estimate had been wrong, and suggested that I replace the roof immediately, before winter, for fear of ice dams forming. At first I wondered whether I was being upsold, but decided that I was not -- the rep showed me close-up pictures of the roof damage and explained that he just hadn't been able to see it from the ground. I got a new quote and a new two-week window, and again Duffy ended up coming out pretty quickly to do the work. Duffy's owner was on site for this larger roof job, plus the rep spent several hours during the work explaining what was going on. The rep did a good job of contacting the neighbors at the start of the job to get permission to use their yard (for access to our roof). Their workers came across as very competent and professional; for example during the job they saw where some of our siding had been badly installed so they custom-fabricated new flashing to seal the roof-siding junction. Overall we probably could have had the work done for a little cheaper, but our principal concern was getting a good contractor to do great work with good materials, all at a reasonable cost. Duffy delivered.

Overall, it is a very expensive disaster. I called Phil Buswell at Duffy about 18 months later concerned with many of the shingles curling. He came out promptly, did an evaluation, and agreed that there was a problem but the problem was clearly with the manufacturer and the shingles, stating repeatedly, "this is not an installation problem". Phil was very helpful in contacting the manufacturer IKO to file my complaint. He helped with the paperwork and even with getting a sample shingle from the roof to send along with the paperwork. After about 4 months, I received a letter from IKO stating that they had evaluated my claim by reviewing the information submitted as well as examining the sample shingle. They determined that "there is nothing wrong with the shingles, that it's an installation issue". Back to Phil, I called to ask how he planned to make this right. He was adamant in insisting that it was NOT an installation issue and that Duffy had no responsibility for my problem. A call to John, one of the owners, was a waste of time. He would not accept any responsibility for my $20,000 failing roof and refused to offer any assistance. He just walked away. I The roof began leaking shortly after and I had to call a contractor for repair. He commented on the roof "job", asking who had done it because it was 'sloppy'. Apparently, the roof, was never stripped down and properly prepped. Duffy installed the new roof over the existing 48 year old roof, a shortcut Duffy commonly uses along with inferior shingles. Based upon my experience, the company is not reputable and the two men I dealt with, lack the integrity and character to be honorable, trustworthy businessmen who treat their customers fairly and with respect. I wouldn't recommend Duffy Roofing to roof a doghouse!

Excellent! This company exceeded our expections in all aspects of the job. From Phil who expertly guided us through the entire process and answered all questions promptly. The work crew was exemplary in thier work ethics. The crew just came together and did the job, From the moment the bight shiny red trucks appeared I knew we had hired the right people. When the job was complete the only way you would have known any work had been done on the property was to examine the house. There was not a speck of debis left behind. This was probably the first work crew that we have hired that did not blare a radio!

He put me at the front of the list and got his team over within days of the estimate. They came on time and prepared to do the work that day. They finished in hours and have not had a poroblem since. Very professional group with professional leadership.

The prompt arrival of the crew of workers came within days of signing the contract. The 4 men worked carefully and efficiently. they were extremely professional and very pleasant. The job was completed in 2 days and they cleaned up everything when it was finished. The gutters were checked and cleaned and there was no debris left anywhere. I was very impressed with the workers that Duffy Roofing sent and am pleased with the overall experience. This company is definitely one that I would highly recommend and if I have any roofing issues in the future, I will certainly contact them again.

My home, built in 1950, had ongoing leaks along the rear door and front porch areas that included rainwater coming through soffit vents, door and window frames, and along a brick wall in my enclosed front porch. A raised roof addition complicated the situation near the rear door, and both areas needed a better soffit vent system. I also needed someone to check the chimney flashing. A new roof in 2005 did not solve any of these problems, and leaks from rainwater had worsened. I contacted Duffy Roofing based on reviews from Angie's List and several independent recommendations. Phil Buswell called back immediately, and came to my house a few days later when it was raining. Phil saw the rainwater leaks and was able to assess the probable causes in simple terms that made sense. He clearly knows what he is doing, offered solutions, answered all questions, and I was very impressed when he stated that he wanted John Duffy to come out and inspect the situation as well. They came to the home and within a few days Phil returned to discuss the proposal. I hired them because of their honest assessments and results-driven philosophy and commitment. Phil is a wonderful communicator, makes all arrangements (including electrician, dumpster, etc., which are included in the price), and calls frequently with updates throughout the entire process. He matched the shingles with the same brand, style and color of existing shingles, and took extra time to show me the type of soffit system that they recommended. I was also impressed that Phil had a conservative and honest "wait and see" approach to several other potential problems. John Duffy and 3 of his crew came early on the appointed day, and Phil stopped by & called throughout the day. Everyone was very professional, no-nonsense, and they worked hard and long hours. John Duffy, in particular, personally tackled the most challenging of the problems. He is clearly proud of the company and their track record, and it shows in their work and professionalism. They finished the entire job in one day, and Phil and John returned the next morning to inspect the work. Phil and I discussed what needs to be done in the attic in order for the soffit vents to work effectively, and possible steps that may be taken if we find other problems in the future. I am extremely impressed with Duffy Roofing, and will not hesitate to use them again and to recommend them to others.

From the beginning, Duffy Roofing preformed excellent service in a timely manner that exceeded our expectations. A leak in the 90 year old slate roof of our English Tudor style home caused us to ask for, and receive, immediate service. Their licensed supervisor Phil Bushwell came out right away, accessed & thoroughly explained what was needed, provided an estimate (several thousand dollars less then the other "A" rated contractor we had contacted, then completed the job within a week! To assure a totally restored finished look, they even went to the trouble of slate soffit and eve repairs on our garage, including painting the eves in the perfect shade of Tudor brown. Their work is exceptional, we have had no further problems and would hire them again without hesitation..

I've been in touch with Duffy roofing for quite a while.The house that needed roof repair is very tall with a steep, slate roofthat is hard to access. Phil B. did a cursory inspection and gave us a repair price.I asked them to include gutter cleaning, and if the roof could wait until July,when the gutters would most need cleaning. They agreed.When it was time to get the job done, Phil called me,set up a time, and attended to the work. Not only did they show up and get the job done.They also had the courtesy to inform all of the tenants that the work was being done.Phil called at the end of the first day, with a detailed report.He called the next day, when the job was done, with a full reporton the quality of the roof, the repairs that were made, and his recommendations for a cleaning and maintenance schedule. I am a better informed property owner, thanks to this fine experience.

The crew arrived as promised and it took approximately 1.5 days to complete the job. We were not home during the installation, but the crew cleaned up after themselves and the finished product looks very good. The components of the of the job that were specified in the bid - shingle type, ice shield, louvers, vent boots, new lead chimney jacket, and permits - were all provided as promised. One minor issue arose relating to a damaged sprinkler head (clearly unintentional), but Duffy Roofing resolved it to my satisfaction.
