From the begining it was bad, he was recommended by our realtor but as it turned out the realtor had onley used him for service work. He was never on time he constantly late or did not show up when he said he was going to, we could not fire him as the building inspector was his cousin, he did not return phone calls , he lost a lot of the fixtures, he never cleaned up, we had to baby step around him to get him to finish, too many problems to list, leaks, fixtures installed improperly, did not return for call backs, total 100% disaster

There are a couple of John Downey's who are plumbers in MA. This one has Master Plumber's license # 12822 and Journeyman's License # 21930. Jack miraculously stepped in at the last minute to do this work when my regular plumber canceled a couple of days before work was to begin. He came highly rated from Tom Cromer (see my review of Cromer Remodeling with the same date). At the time, he was polite and thorough, and his price was good. However, 6 weeks after the work (the Sunday night of Thanksgiving weekend), the toilet began to leak excrement through the side, as well as into the basement. I called and spoke to him first thing the following morning and told him what had happened. He said he would call me back later that day and come by the next day to repair it. Three days and four more unanswered phone calls from me went by. I finally called my regular plumber to fix this. Ten days after the original call, Jack called me, saying he forgot about this. When I told him that I was angry and that I called my other plumber to repair the problem at $100 cost to me, he apologized and went on and on about how he stands by his work. He offered to reimburse me and was very worried about me telling anyone that the problem occurred or that he was going to pay me back. ?The check will go out in the mail today,? he said. That was two months ago, and I?ve heard nothing more from him since that time?..
