Diamond Tile was recommended by the gentleman who installed the hardwood flooring. We consulted on the style of the baluster and the stain color. He thoroughly explained the scope of the work and the materials required. His estimates were dead-on. He carefully removed the carpeting, installed new hardwood treads & balusters (retained the newel posts, hand rail, and skirt board), sanded & applied 3 coats of stain to the treads & balusters. He installed ceramic tile in the master bath - removed & re-installed the toilet. He removed a half wall between the kitchen & dining room, installed a header, and subcontracted a plasterer to finish the wallboard. He was very prompt and neat. Over the two weeks of the projects, he left the work area broom swept. His tools and materials were neatly positioned. We discussed future projects to include replacing hollow core doors with solid doors & replacing the worn trim. I had to defer these projects when I was laid off, but hope to resume later this year. I will call Diamond Tile & Finish Carpentry first! As a bonus, he fixed my kitchen door which was hard to open by adding a few screws to the hinges - changed the angle of the door and it opens easily now. That was a nice thing to do - he took the initiative to fix a frustrating situation.
Description of Work: Replaced carpeting on stairs with unfinished hardwood, stained the hardwood (3 coats, sanded in between), replaced & stained the balusters (3 coats, sanded in between). Removed a half wall & installed a header in the kitchen. Installed ceramic tile floor in the master bath.

He did a pretty good job. His name was William Smith. He does all kinds of carpentry work. He was very thorough and spent a lot of time picking out the stains. He brought some samples that he mocked up for me to see. There were a lot of choices for the balusters so we spent a lot of time talking about that. I left him alone in the house and he was very respectful and neat. He set up a cutting station in my basement and he used plastic sheets to isolate the sawdust. He was very good about cleaning up after himself. It was a two-week job and it was very expensive. He is an all around contractor and he was very precise. He would point out things to me that I would have never noticed and they looked good to me although he said he did the best he could. He gave me a lot of information. He was fanatical about his work and paid attention to detail. He was very thorough and did an excellent job. I would use him again for custom carpentry work. I did some research and his prices were in line.
Description of Work: I used Diamond Tile and Finish Carpentry to put hardwood on my open stairway and new balusters, which he stained and finished. He also took down a half wall in my kitchen and put up a header beam.
