I used De Jesus Industries for my Bathroom renovation Project Last year.
The plan was to renovate three bathrooms. Guest Bathroom with hood in the kitchen and backsplash, Kids Bath, Master Bath
The estimate for the entire project with some allocated amount for materials was 32,000. We were told to keep an additional 10K in mind (A total of 42)
Guest Bath with Kitchen project: The estimate was $13,621
We paid a deposit of $13,341 in March 2023.
The work did not get started until July of 2023.
They started the demolition and we sat with no kitchen ceiling and a broken bathroom for weeks because they did not order any materials on time.
After the demolition was started more money was requested and we were told they would not begin any work until we make more payments.
Another payment of $6177.75 was made on August 14, 2023.
We received a 3rd invoice on August 19 2023 for 7974.94 - There were a few little things left to complete the bathroom work and some finishes related to paint in the kitchen which is not completed to this date.I was told that this invoice has a retainer amount of $6000 which will complete the guest bath and begin the project of the next bathroom.
I am yet to receive a receipt explaining where the retainer amount of 6000 was used.
We had to stop the project at this point for the following reasons.
- We made the total payment of $27493.69 to Dejesus - for just 1/3rd of the project.
-The finishing in the kitchen area is still pending
-The materials were not ordered on time and delayed the entire project
-We had to return 2 vanities for incorrect size the measurement of which was run by the project manager.
-When asked about the details of the retainer amount they started giving us reasons ambiguous to the project. The project manager argued with me saying you are not even spending 1/4th of the cost of the current house for your renovation
- There was no clear communication.
- I was charged for the dumpster however, all the trash was left in my garage.I paid extra $1000 out of my pocket to get the trash removed.
I still do not have the explanation of the retainer 6000 dollars and I was told by the manager that there is no way I will get that money back.
Attached please find the picture of what the finished project in the kitchen looks like.
Response from DeJesus Industries
Hi Mrs. Patel,
We thank you for sharing your experience with our company and are sorry things did not turn out the way you wanted. We take pride in our reputation and take all our customers concerns and complaints into serious consideration and believe we strongly did just that in your situation. With that said, our records reflect that what you have shared is incorrect and a grossly inaccurate depiction of the events that occurred.
The facts are you were traveling to India, your husband wasn’t informed on the details of your project, you fired your designer, and you wanted to keep costs down, which meant you took on responsibilities such as purchasing your own materials which resulted in your self inflicted experience (which we gave many warnings about). When a customer tries to keep costs down by taking on more responsibility, it may have adverse effects. We are the professionals and it’s why you hired us. We’ve completed your bathroom and it looks phenomenal, which you omitted in your uploaded images along with the rest of the work we did in your kitchen. The photo you shared shows an area that needed to be painted that you did not want to pay to have done.
As for the invoices and the retainers, the details regarding your invoices are beautifully spelled out with timestamps and itemization of charges with descriptions. There should be no confusion with the retainer considering we’ve had various phone calls and in person meetings attempting to clarify. When your project manager would take time to meet you late after hours, to accommodate your work schedule, you would get disrespectful, raise your voice at him, and wouldn’t allow him to understand and address your concerns. You would talk over him and make demands. Unfortunately, that didn’t achieve much success for you and you simply didn’t like that.
Respectfully, we disagree and have found that we’ve exhausted all attempts to resolve your concerns.
If you would like to further discuss, please contact me directly.
