The work was excellent.

For a long time we have had an odor in our entire, historical building. We thought it could be a dead rodent in the heating system, because it was coming through the vent. We had several different companies come out, including a pest control and environmental company. It ended up being a broken sewer pipe in the building. It is an old building and pipes were breaking. I discovered later it has happened throughout the neighborhood. It was quite a major project and it was difficult to find someone to come in and go under the building to replace the pipe. We had to move out as well. We found Boston Drain and they came and did the work. It was a big job, as they had to open up a floor in the unit and go down and clean up. There were several people I would like to bring attention to: Ken May was such a devoted employee. Given the nature of the job I was amazed that his spirits were so upbeat. Mike and Bill the supervisor and one other person were also great. The crew, overall, had the spirit one would need to do such a job. It had to be quite unnerving. They came in and saved us. To my knowledge I am not sure there are many companies that do this kind of work in Boston. It was difficult to find them. But when we did find them, they had quite a bit of experience in below building work. They also used cameras to aid them. I feel with the equipment and the way they had to proceed to figure out where the issue was, to me it seemed they used methods that were cost saving. This job should have been costly and destructive. They were able to contain it to keep the cost down. It could have been much more expensive. I would use them again. You can't get plumbers to do this kind of job. I did call a company and they weren't even able to locate what the problem was because it was below ground. Boston Drain has had experience in this area. It was so stressful. They came in and knew how to go about locating the pipe, it was not as costly as it could have been and they brought a lot of relief to us. The quality is unknown because it is under the building.

Arrived on team, worked quickly and efficiently, showed me some ways to improve function of drain when he was done. Very courteous and professional.

They were efficient and I had no complaints or problems with them.

They were very good. He was a great guy. A really good contractor came in. They didn’t mess around and didn’t show any attitude. They tried to make the bill as little as possible, though it was still expensive. There was a bit of a mess that needed to be cleared out for him to get to work. He was very patient and very friendly. He knew exactly what needed to be done. He went right to the job and got it done extremely quickly. He was trying to keep the bill as low as he could. I would highly recommend him.

This was a dire emergency and not easy to solve. Boston Drain responded quickly and stuck with the job until is was fully diagnosed and treated. Their pricing was extremely reasonably and fairly. They are our go-to drain cleaning company.

We had Boston Drain recommended to us from our handyman after he was unable to fix a clog in our line - Dan came over on a Sunday evening and snaked out a large root ball clogged in the line ($450). He came back the next day to do a video scope to see if we had a house trap and to check out what was going on down there. The video line could only go so far, and he suggested there was probably something going on past the point he could see, and most likely we'd need to replace the pipes. We had just removed giant overgrown bushes that had been growing on top of the lines, and agreed that they had probably grown into the original 1920 clay pipes. A few weeks later the problem re-occurred with the clogging, they came to get us flowing for the evening, and we scheduled them to come and replace the pipes the next morning. They originally quoted us at $4500 to replace the line from just past our front deck almost to the main city sewer line. Much of this cost was to dig manually on our super-steep front yard - they doubted they could get a back hoe in the awkward space. The end of the first day it appeared they would, in fact, need some kind of machinery because the line went down about 30' or more to the street. The price got upped, but they were very knowledgable, careful about our flower bed out front, and I felt good knowing the foreman Bill had done this many times before. They had been right that the giant bushes had totally grown into and cracked the pipes at many points.

It went very well. Another company looked at the same problem last week and recommended extensive construction on the drainage system. It would have involved a huge amount of work and would have cost $7400. Boston Drain said that the current system just needs some minor tweeks and monitoring. It only cost $75. They pumped out the dry well and examined our drainage system to let us know exactly the way our system works. We just bought our house and now we know exactly what we have on our hands and what to look for.

There was a lot of work that had to be done and they had no problems with any of it. They were courteous and on time. I would recommend them to anyone. The work area was kept as clean as possible and the price was reasonable as well.

We noticed a significant amount of water coming from the area of the basement floor where the house trap pipe was while doing laundry. We then realized that water must be coming up whenever we used any of the bathrooms in the house. I called Boston Drain and they promptly came the same day. The man who came to look at the the job was very professional and informed me that he would have to return with another plumber the following day. As promised, they showed up the next morning and completed the job within several hours. I was very pleased with their response time, as well as their professionalism and quality of work. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the lack of clean up.

They had to come back twice (no extra charge) to finally get the drain cleared this time. We've used them before and will probably call them again.

SEEMED A LITTLE PRICEY FOR THE WORK.

BILL WAS ABLE TO START WORK ONE DAY AFTER WE GAVE THEM THE GO AHEAD AND BROUGHT A LARGE CREW THAT FINISHED UP IN A DAY AND A HALF. BEFORE THE FIRST SHOVEL WENT INTO THE GROUND, BILL TOLD ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS GOING TO BE BASED ON THE AGE OF THE BUILDING AND WHAT HE HAS SEEN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD; HE WAS RIGHT (THE HOUSE TRAP) AND HE REALLY SEEMED LIKE HE KNEW HIS STUFF. THIS WAS NEITHER THE MOST EXPENSIVE NOR THE CHEAPEST ESTIMATE WE GOT FOR THE WORK. HOWEVER, BILL EASILY SEEMED THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE OUT OF THE 3 CONTRACTORS WE SPOKE TO. THE CREW DID A GOOD JOB AT REPLACING THE BRICK PATIO THAT HAD TO BE DUG UP AND EXPLAINING EVERYTHING THEY HAD DONE. THEY ALSO DID A VIDEO SCOPE AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETE TO ENSURE EVERYTHING WAS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THE ONLY COMPLAINT: THE WORK DISLODGED THE GATE TO THE GARDEN AND IT TOOK THEM ALMOST 3 WEEKS AND MANY PHONE CALLS TO COME BACK TO FIX.

WE WENT WITH THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEIR ESTIMATE WAS THE LOWEST AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO THE WORK WITHIN TWO DAYS. HOWEVER, THEY DIDN'T SHOW THE FIRST DAY, AND DIDN'T CALL US BACK UNTIL AFTER 3 CALLS FROM US. THEY ALSO DIDN'T MAKE THE SECOND APPOINTMENT DESPITE 2 CALLS. THE THIRD RESCHEDULING, THEY SHOWED UP, BUT REALIZED ONLY AFTER INSTALLING ONE OF THE NEW TOILETS THAT THE BATHROOM DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE. ANOTHER MISSED APPT AND SEVERAL CALLS LATER, THEY RETURNED TO FINALLY INSTALL THE TOILETS AFTER I HAD PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT FOR THE TOO-LARGE TOILET. ON THE LAST VISIT, THEY SAID THAT THE OWNER HAD NOW DECIDED NOT TO DO TOILET REPLACEMENTS AS IT WASN'T WORTH THE MONEY. IT CERTAINLY WASN'T WORTH OUR TIME! INSTEAD OF TWO DAYS, THIS ADVENTURE TOOK WELL OVER A WEEK, AND RUINED MY LAST TWO SUMMER VACATION DAYS WITH MY KIDS WAITING FOR A PLUMBER INSTEAD OF ROMPING AROUND OUTSIDE. WORK IS OF HIGH STANDARD, BUT IF YOU'RE NOT A BIG JOB, YOU'RE NOT A PRIORITY, REGARDLESS OF WHAT WAS PROMISE

THEY WERE VERY TIMELY, THEY GAVE US ADVICE AND NOT NECESSARILY THE MOST EXPENSIVE OPTION. GAVE US GOOD SUGGESTIONS, IT WAS SOMETHING WE COULD DO ON OUR OWN.

THEY WERE EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE. I'VE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS AND I CALLED THEM, AND THEY CAME OUT THAT DAY TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE AND DID THE WORK THE NEXT DAY! THEY ALSO HAVE A 10 YEAR GUARANTEE ON THE NEW WORK THAT THEY DO.
