Bay State Remodeling

Bay State did a great job on my bathroom remodeling project. They communicated very well and were very respectful of our house and needs. They cleaned up well and were respectful of our schedule. David has been great working with us on options and coming up with ideas. Yuri, Roger and Darly were also great. Their prices were not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. I feel the money was well worth it for the finished product. My only nit is that they are busy and I wish they could have started the project sooner. Overall very good.

Bay State Remodeling completely remodeled our 565 sf condominium in Brighton, MA, including all new kitchen and bath. It was an excellent experience from beginning to end. They were very accommodating to our needs and design changes. David, our project manager, was wonderful, a great communicator and very willing to “meet” with us on FaceTime as well as in person because we are split between coasts. Bay State assigned a crew to our project who worked with David on most aspects of the project and were knowledgeable in many areas of construction techniques. Mearcelu is a real craftsman when it comes to custom moldings and finish carpentry. The other team members were conscientious, very hard working and always responsive to any requests or concerns we expressed. The whole crew met the challenge of working on a 100-year-old building without a single plumb wall or right angle with great results. Ray, the owner, Roger, the office engineer, and David worked together seamlessly to maintain schedule and their contract documentation is superb. Bay State Remodeling are a very professional group and I felt their main goal was ensuring we are happy customers. We are!

Selected the 1st Class Finish, low VOC, and diamond finish coat. Jose was professional and dedicated to his trade. He provided solutions for various problems with my tub resulting in an excellent result. Schedules were met, and responses to questions and followup complete.

We are in the finishing stages of a full kitchen remodel with Bay State. I don’t have adequate words to describe how responsive, professional, and reliable the team has been throughout the entire renovation. Yuri was our project manager and he is excellent. He had answers for everything, fixed problems that arose quickly and thoroughly, was responsive to and respectful of all of our questions, and was a joy to work with. Darly completed much of the work on our renovation, and his craftsmanship is impeccable. He does very high quality work and is very efficient. He even made a couple of changes to some of the finishing work without us asking, just because he knew it would look better- and he was right! I appreciated both his and Yuri’s advice and expertise throughout the process. Fernando also completed some of the work on our kitchen, and his work was also high quality. Roger was our contact at the office, and he was great to work with. He was so helpful with coordinating meetings, explaining the process, and keeping the billing on track. In addition to the Bay State team, all of the people they work with (electrical, plumbing, countertops, cabinets, etc.) are top notch. Going in to this renovation I was nervous that things would go wrong, costs would get out of control, and things wouldn’t turn out how I wanted—but it became apparent from the very beginning that I did not need to worry about anything with Bay State. They did an incredible job, and they stuck to the original budget and timeline. Plus, they are great guys! They clearly care about what they do and they are extremely knowledgeable and experienced. So—all this to say, if you are considering doing any renovation/remodeling project do not hesitate to call Bay State!

My husband and I just bought a fixer-upper in West Newton and had to move in within 20 days after closing. Respecting our time limit, Bay State worked diligently to complete a kitchen remodel, updated our electrical and plumbing, added a fireplace mantel, and gave us expert advice on future projects. They overcame some unexpected obstacles along the way (which is bound to happen with reno and these old houses), and were very creative in fixing everything while always keeping our budget in mind. The house looks amazing now and we are very thankful for the hard work the whole team put in. I would highly recommend using their services and would do so again in a minute.

In summary, they were prompt, extremely professional, did high quality work, and were reasonably priced. Among the quotes that we received, theirs was the most competitive. They said that they could begin the project in approximately two months and that it would take about 8 weeks to complete. The estimated price, start date, and length of time to complete the project were all met precisely. Our project was managed by David. He has strong interpersonal skills and communicated with us throughout the duration of the project. He oversaw the work and checked in with us regularly, always asking if we had any questions or if there was anything he could do. He managed all of the details, e.g., plumber, electrician, insulation, multiple inspections, providing last minute supplies, etc. Open, honest, and trustworthy. Whenever we wanted to change/add something, he worked with us to make sure we were satisfied. Marcio led most of the work. He is a master craftsman. He is attentive to details and does work of the highest quality. On several occasions, I suggested that we would be satisfied with some compromise, but Marcio encouraged and implemented more rigorous approaches (at no extra charge) because, simply, he takes pride in his work. He, also, is polite, friendly, and a good communicator. At various times when we had special requests, such as when we were hosting a gathering at our home or when we had guests visiting, they were happy to accommodate our schedules. Overall, this is a very professional group that takes pride in its work and is reasonably priced. It was a terrific experience.

I cannot say enough good things about Bay State and the work they did on our house in Newton. They helped us design the entire first floor of our house, with an open concept and new kitchen, as well as replacing hardwood floors throughout and refinishing all of them to match beautifully. They worked quickly and efficiently and everyone was very professional and pleasant to be around. They were always aware of our budget and communicated everything clearly about where we could save and where we needed to spend. They re-did the stairs case for us, updated the electrical and plumbing, and even recommended designing and adding some built ins that we had not thought of originally. I would recommend Bay State in a heart beat and will definitely be using them in the future when we are ready for the next steps in our renovation. So happy to have a go-to team we can rely on!

Jose & Frank came right on time, they were flexible to my need to push out the time in the afternoon and they were in and out within 3 hours. We had new tile installed the previous week and they did a great job to ensure that everything was carefully covered and protected. The tub looks beautiful now!

I came to Bay State through Angie's List and am so glad I did! Bay State has been excellent from the beginning of the process to the end. They do superb work and are highly professional. They are totally responsive to requests or questions, and follow through in a timely way with whatever they say they will do. I have friends for whom renovation with other contractors was stressful. Bay State, however, took care of whatever came up so that I had no problems or stress, and I could sit back and let them take care of everything. David was an extraordinary project manager, and I give him and them my highest recommendation. I would definitely hire them again for other projects.

The technician came to refinish the tub and decided that they could not warranty the work because of the rust spots. He was knowledgeable and patient. He explained the problem honestly and helped me decide on a course of action. I declined the work, but I appreciate their professionalism.

My wife and I are thrilled with result from both bathrooms. Yuri, Marcio and Rogerio were a pleasure to have in our house and worked very hard to keep to the schedule and ahigh level of quality. Yuri, who was the project manager, was always readily available and responded quickly to all our requests. Our small bathroom was tricky to layout and they were patient and responsive as we made a number of adjustments. I also thought they were very fair with the cost of the adders we requested and always documented and requested email approval before they went ahead with them. The reglazing of the 2nd bathroom came out very nicely, although it is not as nice as a completely new bathroom. On the other hand, for only about $2500 we gave an old and tired pink bathroom and new and modern look. Well worth the cost.

I cannot tell you how wonderful an experience this was. First of all, Dave, Darly and Yuri are three of the NICEST guys, never mind that they do excellent work. Of central importance to me was responsiveness. Having been through construction work in the past, I was worried that my bathroom would be torn apart and they would disappear, with no contact. Not only did that NOT happen, but every time I called they answered the phone!! They kept me informed of exactly what was happening and when. And the work they performed was excellent. Darly is a master tile guy, painter and builder, and so polite and professional. Dave and Yuri made great suggestions as to how I should configure the space, which was a challenge. The price was competitive and the add-ons were totally expected and reasonable. They offer a one-year guarantee. I intend to hire them again to remodel my sun-porch. RFM, Newton, MA

The workmanship was excellent. Jose was the guy who came out and did the estimate. He showed up on time and explained the process very well, what the job would entail and what prep work I needed to do. The work was scheduled promptly and was done by Jose. Again he showed up promptly and did a very professional job. The bathrooms look like new. No need to replace a bathroom when you can Ave a new one just by refinishing.

The estimator gave us bad advice on the color, recommending bright white which did not go with the existing porcelain in the bathroom. Martha booked the appointments. I emailed her twice to confirm that we also had a follow-up scheduled after the tile was dry to regrout around the bathtub and remove the tape. I talked to Martha on the phone to confirm as well. It was written in our contract. The original spraying went ok, but no one showed up at the designated time for the follow up. It turns out Martha never booked it. Since I had it in writing that she had committed to the booking, she made one of her workers come over at a different time (my husband had to take time off from work twice to accommodate). The worker was mad about the unscheduled call, and he did a terrible job of regrouting. We had to hire someone else to come in and redo the work. The reglazing started chipping off at the slightest contact (we don't even use this bathroom). I don't know how Bay State has such a good rating. That's why I selected them, but it was a mistake.

Bay State was fantastic from beginning to end. Their initial estimate was very competitive and they seemed to care about getting the job and making me happy more than anyone else I talked to. I had a very detailed design that I wanted them to follow and they executed perfectly. The team of David, Marcio, and Rogerio was skilled and a pleasure to work with. David kept the project running smoothly, and Marcio did a wonderful job of making sure everything was exactly as I envisioned it (do not pass up the opportunity to get Marcio on your team--he is a great craftsman, very friendly, and very trustworthy). On the first day I told David to promise me one thing: no surprises. He kept his word and made sure I was in the loop every time a decision had to be made. Incredibly, we got through this entire project without a single major issue--and hardly even a minor one. The bathroom looks amazing and I appreciate how strongly Bay State seems to stand behind their work--even long after the job is finished. I highly recommended these guys for bathroom work.

The job was never put on the schedule, and was marked as closed prior to any work being performed. I was never contacted or given a better reason. I cannot use them for anything else because they obviously cannot be trusted.

Excellent, David came to our home and did an excellent job refinishing the tub and explaining next steps and preventive measures going forward to make sure there would be no scratches. The smell was strong for a few hours and then went away! We were considering replacing the tub but with 100 projects to do on our new home this was great solution for the kids bathtub. He even installed an anti skid base.

It was great. The scheduler was very easy to work with, and the men who did the refinishing were on time, friendly, and efficient. The tub now looks great!

Yuri, David, Marcio, Rogerio and the rest of the team were an absolute joy to work with! Yuri and David, our project managers, were in constant touch with us and always kept us informed about progress. They were always available by cell or text. And Marcio’s work on the tile and carpentry was beautiful… he is a true craftsman! Marcio and his assistant Rogerio made every detail of the bathrooms beautiful. They were reasonably priced, and had loads of practical suggestions to help us get the most from the project. Yuri, David and Marcio did a brilliant job! They kept our home clean while the project was going on, and were a pleasure to have in our home. We would definitely hire them again, and would recommend them to anyone!

David, Marcio, Rogerio, Yuri & team did an amazing job. They were on time and extremely responsive. It came out even better than I had imagined. David was my main contact for the project management and he always picked up the phone and was very clear and upfront about any unexpected work and timelines. The work on the cabinetry was excellent, and Marcio and Rogerio did a very detailed tile installation in the master bath shower. They had great recommendations when I wasn't sure about a choice to make, and were very upfront about pricing as well. All of the subs they brought into my home did an excellent job as well. I trust this team and loved working with them, and would hire them again and recommend them to anyone!

David arrived on time and did an amazing job. We could not be more happy with the end result of David's work. Bay State was a pleasure to do business with and we will definitely hire them again.

From Day 1 - Bay State impressed starting with Yuri on the initial bid suggesting how to approach the job when others had said it was impossible. Throughout the job, project manager Yuri made sure everything stayed on track and exceeded expectations. Roger handled all financial, contract, and license aspects and insured this part of the process was smooth. Baystate did high quality work across all aspects led by Yuri and Marshal, which resulted in a "WoW" end results. We're really happy with all aspects. Initially we questioned if Baystate would be available to meet our "higher-end" design requirements - and they certainly did. The painting and floor were also extremely well done. Overall, this was a high quality job, with strong craftsmanship, strong project management, and an job that stuck close to the overall timeline. I highly recommend them.

It went Great! The team for the job was well skilled and arrived right on time. They did the job assigned quickly, professionally and cleaned up before they left. The coordination of workers and supplies was right on. I was lucky I found such a good group.

Juan was punctual, professional, and did a fabulous job! I would definitely hire Bay State Refinishing again, and I'd ask specifically for Juan. He finished the whole job in about 3 1/2 hours and he cleaned up perfectly. The price was very reasonable and I'm thrilled with the result. Bay State is a real find!

The project was challenging requiring one wall to be removed and others gutted to studs. And then finding the perfect floor plan to maximized space that also included an entrance foyer.. Project proceeded on a day by day basis. The original plan looked nothing like a finished product.
