Since the project was bought as an Angie's List deal, we were pleased with the price of the work done. If we had to pay full price, it wouldn't be worth it for what was done. The quality of the work wasn't quite as good as we expected, but overall it was pretty good. We didn't see the attention to detail that one would expect from a specialized company like this. I would suggest that if you used Bay State Refinishing, that you make sure you ask lots of questions and confirm every detail before and during the job. The floor tiles aren't completely straight and the stain blocker we supplied wasn't mixed with the grout like it was supposed to be. It was added on top of the grout lines. Since cement board had to be added to the floor, the height of the floor was higher than the original. One of our bathroom doors was cut to compensate for this, but the toilet was replaced as is. This caused flushed toilet water to leak into our basement. Bay State came promptly to fix the issue with a bigger wax seal. As far as the shower goes, we were pleased with how the tub came out, for the most part. We didn't communicate clearly enough that we wanted a non-slip coating on the tub, so we had to schedule another day for that to be done. Ray gave us a break on that and charged us $45 to do it. The shower walls weren't completed regrouted like we expected, but the stained grout and caulk was removed and replaced. Ray & David were pretty responsive and checked in with phone calls and emails in a timely manner. The workers called most of the time when they were going to be late. They also said when they would be leaving for the day. There was one day when I waited a long time for one of them to come and I had to rush to work to be on time. I thought they were professional, polite and were eager to make things right when things came up that was either their fault or our oversight. They were apologetic when there was anything that inconvenienced us. The workers seemed to try hard, but seemed to be rushed a little, maybe because they sold alot of Angie's deals.

They were at my house within four days of me calling them, and that was Friday to Monday. They worked around my schedule because I was having my window put in my bathroom. I wanted it done before it would be ruined from another job.

Since the (white/grey, tiny, and terribly laid) floor tile with its grungy old grout and the (ivory-with-brown-speckles) 4" tiles wrapped around the lower half of all the walls in the bathroom were my largest complaints about my bathroom, I signed right up for this deal. The bathroom is small, with plaster walls (1920 build), which means anything involving the removal of the wall tiles would likely leave large holes or require complete removal and replacement of the walls -- refinishing was an option that I hadn't really considered. Bay State was very responsive, fielded questions from me before and after I purchased the Big Deal, and scheduled the work quickly. Ray was on site for part of the job to ensure things moved quickly and were done correctly. The new floor tile (12" tiles) made a huge difference in the look/feel of the bathroom, and is installed well. After a rest day for the tile to set, the team was back to refinish the wall tiles. The process is a bit fume-y, even with the exhaust system set up, but that's to be expected. The finish is great -- bright while tiles that no longer look dingy. It also helped reduce how noticable some, uh, less optimal tile installation was (by some previous owner of the house) around the corners. Since the remove/replace for the toilet was part of the price, I opted to buy a new toilet, which they installed for me. I separately bought a new vanity which I thought I could install myself, but should have had them do while they were on site. ;) Overall, the bathroom looks massively upgraded, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I've already recommended Bay State Refinishing to my sister and a colleague.

The entire experience was wonderful. The plan was to redo the bathroom including the floor and walls. They removed the entire insides including vanity, sink, toilet, medicine cabinet and existing lighting and tile floor. The tube was left intact and it was decided that it did not need refinishing at this time. The person who did the floor tile and backsplash tile did an excellent job. A sub floor was placed and the floor tile looks wonderful as does the backsplash. The walls were painted, nice job too. The electrician rewired a lot. The fan in the ceiling was replaced and believe it or not it had not been vented to the outside. This company did this job well and quickly. I had new lights installed that required new wiring. The electrician corrected some existing electrical work and gave me new switches inside the bathroom and closed off the original outside the bathroom. Every worker was very professional and communicated with each other. They were consistently prompt and called me if there was to be any delay. There was only one. I did not expect them to work so fast, so I was the one who delayed some things by not having all the supplies needed on time. I found this crew through Angie's Big Deal. I added a lot to the special and the additional priciing needed was reasonable.

Great. As I was told would happen, it came out better than expected. I got exactly what I wanted; a new toilet, goodbye to the ugly light blue color tub, and have updated shower fixtures. It makes my bathroom cleaner, brighter, and more functional without tearing out all of the old walls and tub and doing a complete renovation. I am totally happy. The workmen were efficient and gave a lot of information. It is important to understand the limitations of the spray painting on the tub and walls - no suction cups as the paint can be ruined. The surface has a slightly gritty feel, rather than the extreme smooth surface of tile, and that works well for me when I stand in the tub, I feel safer. Since I am enjoying looking at the white walls it is fine. The tile I picked for the bathroom floor really updates the place from the 50"s to the 2000's. I think this was a very good deal for the price. They spent 4 full days working,and some were very long days. A 5th day was required to let the paint dry. They were very concerned to be sure that I got what I wanted and was pleased with the job.

First, my experience calling Bay State Refinishing was more then I expected. I actually looked up a company that does tub refinishing and found them out on the web and then checked them out on Angie's List. The professionalism of this company is above par. I had to cancel out on the first date we chose and there was not a problem rescheduling it. I was fortunate to have gotten in on a special they were having - not sure what the estimate would have been, without the special deal. The cost was $350 and we spent another $45 for the special Kohler Almond color, as it is the same color we chose for our Kohler Toilet. Our tub was done on May 14th and Milano Stakowski did an outstanding job. He walked us through the process before he began the project. We loved working with him - professionalism at its best. He made certain we knew exactly when to remove the masking paper and stated it more then once, as it needs to be removed when they tell you to remove it, which is usually 48 hours after completion, in our case. He also made certain to tell us to read about the cleaning products that we need to use going forward. We thought he was very thorough in his talking points. The points are also on the On Site Certificate you sign after the job is completed, so you have for reference. AND, Milano contacted us the next day to see if we had any questions. Since the masking tape was still around the tub we wanted to wanted to get back to him after the masking tape was removed, but did state the tub looked great. I felt all around the tub today, Monday, May 20th, and felt a few sharp pieces on bottom of tub and Milano is coming back out tomorrow to lightly sand those pieces and respray. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be taken care of to our satisfaction. We sent out pictures of the old green tub (which was the original tub from 1978, when the house was built). The new refinished tub, in Kohler Almond color, looks brand new. Everyone that has been in to see it and that we sent pictures to could not believe how great it came out. We are more then pleased and we would highly recommend Bay State Refinishing. Infact, I put photos up on my Facebook page and recommended Bay State Refinishing.

We decided to refresh our bathroom; re-glaze the tub and wall tiles and update the tile floor.. From start to finish, Bay State was great to work with. From the moment we called them, they were helpful and accommodating. Our bathroom was small and older and it presented some issues. They made it work. They were professional and courteous. Best of all - they did an fantastic job. We are so pleased with our new bathroom. I would definitely use them again

We contacted Bay State Refinishing after seeing their deal on Angie?s List. Their supervisor, David, was able to come to our house a few days later to give us an estimate for renovating our guest bathroom, and the job was started within a couple of weeks. They completely renovated the bathroom, including refinishing the navy blue bathtub, replacing the toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet and light fixture, replacing the tiled walls with drywall, painting, and replacing the floor tiles (we purchased all the fixtures, floor tiles and paint separately). David worked closely with the sub-contractors they used for plumbing and for tiling/drywall/painting. The original bathroom was put in during the 1960?s, and the project turned out to be more challenging than anticipated. However, they demonstrated great flexibility throughout, although we changed the scope of work mid-stream, and were very committed to providing a high quality finished product. The job was completed within a week (not counting drying time after the tub was refinished). We felt we got excellent value for our money and would use them again. Highly recommended.

It went very well. Bay State was able to fit me in on fairly short notice - their communication was excellent throughout, before and after. The job supervisor, David was extremely attentive - good communication and follow-up. The technician, Jose was as pleasant as can be. These folks seem to really care that their customers are happy with the job.

I recently purchased a mid-century home with horrible pink, orange, and black tile and a big old cast iron tub. The tile was mudded in and two new bathrooms were going to cost me between $15-20,000. Although I know it's only temporary I decided to just re-tile my floor and refinish the tile to hold me over a few years. I chose Bay State Refinishing because I was very busy with other jobs in the house and they were going to coordinate everything for me and not just the refinishing. Over all everything went well from start to finish. They were not the cheapest company to bid on the job, but they are trying very hard to grow their business and worked very hard to ensure that things went well and that there were no issues. David, the supervisor was on site everyday inspecting the work of the employees and making sure that I was happy. The job did go a little bit over what was scheduled, but other than that everything was done just as specified in the contract.

Bay State Refinishing and Remodeling saved me (and my bank account) with my main bathroom remodel. I really wanted to remodel the entire bathroom, but didn?t have the budget for a complete gut job. Ray came over to take a look and assured me that he can make my bathroom look brand new with a fraction of the price that it would cost me to completely remodel the bathroom. His team did a marvelous job refinishing the bathtub. It looks like a brand new tub:) They also installed new porcelain tile, new fixtures and painted. The bathroom looks great. Everyone that sees it thinks I spent so much on this project. Give them a call, it?s worth it!

I was a little skeptical with the company due to the low price. They were running a special. But I was VERY pleased with the overall result. They were very professional, answered all my questions kindly, and were very responsive to emails and phone calls. The gentleman who came to do the actual work was just as professional.
