Bay State Remodeling

I think the work that they did seemed to be quality. They took a lot of time in prepping. It wasn't a sloppy job. It was very well done. They got all the grout ripped off before they actually refinished the tile so there would be no dark spots in the grouting. I think they took the time to do the job right. I really appreciate it. They also gave me a warranty, I think it is five year warranty on the tub resurfacing/refinishing. The only thing I am dissatisfied with is the fact that they quoted me a certain amount and after the job was done they called to say that they made a mistake on the estimate so they ended up charging me $400 more than the original estimate. I wasn't happy with that but in terms of the quality of the work -- it was very good work. We have certain expectation of the cost and had I known that it was $400 more I would have probably considered other options. That was the reason why I wasn't too happy but they did a great job.

It went beautifully. I live out of state, so Bay State had to make arrangements directly with the tenant. They came and did the job professionally and courteously. Since I was not there, I asked my tenant, who can be very picky, how things went. She was delighted. Said the tub looks like new. They gave her specific written instructions on how to care for the newly restored tub, and she said she wil gladly follow them.

I had to have them come back as they did not get the work order to do the nonskid surface. Then return again to clean the title surround after the job was done as it wasn't cleaned well the first time. They were very nice and apologetic. ..

Yurt Brito was on time, and explained the whole process before doing the work. He did an excellent job. We are very satisfied with the work.

Fantastic! Yuri was our tech and he did a phenomenal job. He was prompt (at the house at 8 am). We did a quick survey of the bathroom; he looked at the tub and sized up the job. He gave me some caveats (can't use the shower for 48 hours, cleaning guidelines, what to do in case of accidental damage) and explained the warranty, we shook hands, and he started working. He worked totally independently except for asking where he could clean up his equipment (I showed him the slop sink in the basement). He was done in about 4 hours. The tub looks AMAZING. We're so pleased with the work that we may call Bay State to remodel our half-bath downstairs next year!

The guy that did the work was very courteous. They did a good job. He did extra work that I asked him to do and he did not charge me for it. The were cheaper then other companies we got a quote from.

My job went extremely well!! My appointment was between 8:00 am and 10:00 am, with the employee, Cruz, showing up before 8:00 which was great. He assured me that the completed refinishing would be nice once completed and got me up to date on the process before starting the job. Some of my tile, needed to be slightly re-grouted, which was a total transformation in itself. He immediately got to work and it was done in the time promised. He also was completely neat with covering up the walls, including the ceiling before starting the refinishing. Once he completed the job, he gave me helpful tips on how to maintain by using certain products to keep it clean. The final look is astonishing and I really can't believe that it can look so good with just refinishing. I have an old house with a heavy cast iron tub, so to try to replace this would be extremely costly. I feel like I have a new bathroom with this refinishing job because it looks fantastic! Would definitely recommend to others who are considering their services. Thank you Bay State Refinishing!

The work began on the 12th of May right on schedule and was completed in under 3 weeks. David and Ray were responsive to any questions and/or requests that we had. Phone calls were promptly returned . David checked in regularly on the progress of the project. Edilson and Dali, who were on site each day, did a great job with the dry wail, carpentry, tiling, etc. and were just overall really nice people to have around. They also cleaned up every day, leaving the house a dust free as possible. We are thrilled with our new bathroom. It is everything we had hoped for and more.

Cost ? Bay State was not the least expensive (contract price was $7,750 ? extras relocating bathtub shower head and framing shelf $500, Electrical circuit breaker $125, add GFI and bathroom recess light $250) but since it was more like a turnkey project, it was worth the extra expense to me. I appreciate Ray showing good faith by starting work before Bay State received the first 10% deposit under the contract because we had run out of checks and new checkbook had not yet arrived. Ray agreed to purchase the wall tiles I had selected from Home Depot, and the grout (floor and wall) for me first, and to pick up the floor tiles I had bought from Lowes. Ray also purchased the new showerhead and valve with hose for the bathtub through his supplier, which saved me time. Ray was flexible when I wanted to add a GFI outlet near the sink, as well as a recess ceiling light above the bathtub, as these additions did delay the project, and I know Ray had another project after mine so he was working to complete my project promptly. Ray gave a good suggestion to build a shelf along the new wall around the bathtub so we did not have to build a soap enclosure into the wall. Timing - very punctual. Workmen always arriving within time frame promised. Work completed in timely manner and regular feedback given on how different aspects of the job would affect the completion date. With regard to relocating shower head to the opposite wall, Ray and David both said they would not know if it could be done till the wall was opened, not giving false expectations. Later, the job was completed within their estimation. They were clear about possible delays caused by the need to wait for inspections (plumbing, electrical, etc), which were beyond their control. These disclosures showed me professionalism and experience in the business in providing proper time estimates. Helpful ? e.g. When my granite supplier was giving me trouble about coming to the site to enlarge the opening of the hole they had made on the granite vanity countertop for my drain pipe (They had made it too small), David helped by taking the granite vanity countertop to his own granite supplier to enlarge the hole for me so the plumber would not be further delayed in installing the faucet and drain cover for the sink. Workmanship ? Very satisfied. The team regularly asked me for feedback and to 'test' things out and quickly report back to them if anything was less than satisfactory. Edison and his team did a good job, and offered a good suggestion about where to locate the toilet bidet spray. Milano did the refinishing of my bathtub. He was detailed and careful, and also explained the important aspects of care for the refinished bathtub. He gave a printed instructions for care and cleaning of the refinished tub. Bay State said to call any time if there were queries or concerns regarding proper care. On day of final handover, David personally did the final inspection. He went over the whole bathroom from top to bottom and found some slightly less than perfectly painted areas behind the vanity and a small part of the door frame that had some peeling paint. Without having to request, David arranged for these imperfections to be fixed before handing over.

Excellent. I needed to have work done at 2 locations - a tub at my place & a sink at a friend's nearby. Josh was very responsive & able to book a short-notice appointment for both to fit my schedule. Cruz arrived on time, was completely professional, hard working & well-skilled for the jobs at hand. Project # 1 (tub) took approx. 3 hours, project #2 (sink) - 2 hours, both on same day. Both came out perfectly. I highly recommend Bay State Refinishing & Remodeling if you are looking to have your fixtures resurfaced.

A good experience all arountd they prep you well on getting it ready, arrived on time, did a great job. I would use them again.

I had a complaint. I spent $595 for refinishing my bathtub and he said that after a 48-hour period, I could apply silicone on the edge of the tub to finish it off. I thought for $595, he had to come back and do it himself. I had to hire a handyman on top of the refinishing service to complete the job for me. He told me that for every work order that they have two visits and that the caulking did not happen because my first visit was a missed appointment due to poor communication. They did end up reimbursing me for what I paid a handyman to do the caulking . They were punctual and prompt. He was a nice enough guy.

Everything was on time and done very well. Aldo is a real pleasure to work with. I would use him again for future projects

The bathtub is still drying, but I would say that their prices were reasonable, they were professional, and they were really knowledgeable over the phone. The first place I called didn't even know what re-enamel the tub was. This was for a tenants apartment.

We have to say that the responsiveness and interaction between the contractors Ray and David, their workers and us, the clients, was quite an impressive and refreshing experience. What was equally good was that Ray and David always tried to give us several options on how to approach solutions to our bathrooms, and they always tried to give us a less expensive alternative. Nice!!! The quality and craftmanship of their workers ? especially Dali and Edison ? was remarkable. They worked fast and diligently, always double checking with us if what they were about to do was exactly what we wanted too. We would highly recommend this company for their professionalism.

I discovered a hairline crack in our tub New Year's Eve morning. With 2 little kids and only one full bath, this was an emergency. Ray answered my call and asked for a photo to get a look at the damage. Within a few hours we had a call back with an estimate and appointment booked for a few days away. Two days later, with a snowstorm upon us, David in the office was able to send Milano out to our house a day early. Milano was wonderful and great at explaining the options. He was fast, efficient and friendly.

They removed previous glaze and applied three coats of new glazing and added non skid surface. The company was very easy to work with. It was easy to schedule by phone, they sent instructions and a description of work to be done in advance by email, and the technician arrived promptly and was polite and courteous. He was careful to seal the area, and fumes were contained to the bathroom and dissipated quickly. The tub looks fantastic, and we are extremely happy with the work. We'll be moving out of the area soon but would definitely use them again if the need arose.

My first experience with Bay State Refinishing and Remodeling was when they came over for an estimate of our bathroom remodel. Our bathroom had ceiling to floor pink tiles and my initial idea was to re-glaze them another color since we couldn't afford a full-blown bathroom renovation (which gutting walls would entail). The representative was honest enough to tell me why that wasn't a smart idea, despite risking losing the business. It was because of this I changed direction and decided to keep tiles, replace everything else, and hire Bay State to re-glaze the tub. I've had experience with other bathtub re-glazes, and from the beginning, Bay State's re-glaze proved of a higher quality. It's worth it to pay the extra bucks to have them add a floor grip for safety. Unlike other glazer's floor grips, Bay State's grips are easy to clean.

I called to get an estimate on the phone. The person was able to give me a quote base on my description (just refinishing a bath tub). The scheduling was easy as well, she gave the earliest available time slot which was three business days later. The person came on time and was courteous. I asked some questions about the process and additional work to the bathroom. He answered my questions and gave me a rough estimate of other work for my reference. The work was finished in time and the result has been satisfactory so far (it's been few months since it was refinished). The only weird part was that he left the house for 30-minute while waiting for the 1st coat to dry (that's my guess) without telling me. So I was wondering what happened to the person and the work. He finally came back and finished the job. It would have been nice if he told he would be away.. just so I wasn't left wondering what's going on. But overall a good experience.

Work only took 3 hours and the bathtub looks gorgeous.

In a word...terrible. They were late to their very first appointment & it was a sign of things to come. Ultimately, most of the people I dealt with there were very professional & courteous. The one exception was a service manager who was so rude I can't believe he's in customer service. Regarding the issues, they began when they didn't have the appropriate saw blade to cut marble, they used what they had and mangled the cuts. When the floor was finalized the grout lines ran from 1" down to a 1/4" (crooked), the edges and corners looked serrated, and cracked tile was laid. Moreover, they used a Thinset for ceramic tile not marble so it's not even adhered correctly. Additionally the paint job was patchy and faded in some spots. I'll leave out the details of arguments with them (I was accused of cracking the tile and told the floor wasn't crooked, etc) and missed appointments but suffice it to say they did come back. On the floor they improved some of the mis-cuts but the tiles were laid at uneven heights so you'll hit your foot on the higher tiles. On the walls they said they couldn't fix the blotchy paint because it was too close to the sink area which I would have to remove and re-install for them to do it. About a month after that the paint really began coming off. It's now peeling off the wall in a dozen places and rough to the touch in other areas. When I called to ask them for compensation for inconvenience of having to be home for numerous appointments and lackluster workmanship they didn't offer me a single dollar. Not even payment for the extra marble tiles they had to use for the re-install. I would never use them again and don't recommend you to either.

It went great! When I first called I believe I talked to Ray. He was friendly and we immediately set up a date to have our bathtub refinished. He then emailed us a set of instructions for preparation and information on how to care for our refinished tub. When I had concerns about the preparation, I emailed Ray and he just told me not to worry which was great b/c I tend to worry too much! Russell arrived at my door right on time last Friday and did the work scraping the old caulking off and refinishing the tub. After he left I had a question so I called and Helen was very nice and answered it for me. The following Monday, Russell arrived on time again and did the re-caulking and added the skid proof surface. The tub looks even better than when I bought the condo back in 1999!

the biggest problem was getting the cabinet and sink from Home depot--was delayed they were great in the installation and the guys could do carpentry and anything on site. They were fast and responsive

It looked beautiful right after they left. Then the next day a bug got into the porcelain when it was still wet. I was so upset because that certainly wasn't their fault. I called and talked to Ray who said no problem. They had someone out there the next day to fix it at no charge..... Then last week I noticed another little chip and Ray called to follow up. I told him I was going to call him to find out what kind of enamel I could buy to touch it up. He said send us a pic of it and we'll see if it's something we can fix! NOW THIS IS THE KIIND OF COMPANY YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH!!! Great customer service. Every single person I talked to in the company was professional, courteous, and cared about whether or not you were satisfied. I was so surprised at the follow up. No way ever does that!! I highly recommend them.

They were professional, responsive, and interested in doing their best work. Someone even called me today -- several days after -- to get feedback about their services. There was a need for a few touch ups after the initial work was done, and they came right back and did the finish work. I was happy and would recommend them to others.
