We had tim and crew build us a two story barn with water and electrical -- we had him pull all permits, do all inspections, etc. Tim and his crew themselves did a decent job, but his subs seemed to be subpar -- they came out and dug a hole for the foundation/footings, then a couple weeks passed before anything could get poured, the trenching for the water and electrical left rocks (boulders) strewn everywhere -- water was supposed to be sunk to >4' (so it could be run year round), but at the last minute this was too much effort for one of his subs, so that went out the window. etc... anyway, all in all: * tim came in right about on budget * project took much longer than expected (due to delays from scheduling of subs) * he came back over after everything was done to follow up, asked me if there should be any give backs, etc -- told him the above (thought his subs not so great), but no need for give backs. * his guys did good work, but not all of his subs were so great...

Tim came out to look over the job and gave us several options for pricing. We chose to go with the least complicated (time & materials). Rick worked on our barn for much of the summer, working at a modest pace and without impacting on our day-to-day life around the house. He was efficient in his work and kept the job site neat. The Barn had settled more than 8" in one location and he worked to restore it to a reasonable level, while installing new footings, replacing rotten timbers, rebuilding one foundation wall and installing some new bracing to keep things straight and together. He was receptive to requests for having things done in a specific manner and worked very well with us to keep the overall costs under control. I think we got a very good deal for what we spent, and hope that these repairs will last for another 100 years.
