Description of Work: I had no heat and the pilot had gone out on my gas furnace. I called Unique Indoor Comfort (who had helped me with my A/C two years prior). The tech showed up on time - actually a little early - and determined that the furnace needed a thermal coupler. Tech's name is Mike. He installed a new thermal coupler, performed a complete cleaning of the furnace and showed me where there were a few minor issues I'd want to keep an eye on in the future. He noted everything down on the receipt. This company will be my "go to" company for heating and a/c from here on!

Climate Technologies put in a unico mini duct system for us 10 years ago.. we recently sold our house and had a challenging building inspector who felt the garage ducts were not and quot;up to codeand quot; as they could be punctured and CO could seep in from the garage.. Even though the wrapping surrounded a solid pipe, he wouldn't budge. Don sent his guys out and they wrapped the garage ducts in sheet metal. I am moving out of state and hope to be able to use this system in my new home.. if not, Iand quot;ll have these guys come down and install it.. they are awesome to work with. if you are considering central air, this is the first phone call I would make!

Wow... where do I start? For a few days I'd been smelling an awful smell in my diningroom and on the night of July 4th (around 8:30 to be exact), I finally noticed the problem. I never thought to look up, but as I was turning off the light in my diningroom, from the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a drop of water falling. Sure enough the ceiling was wet and water was dripping right through the chandelier onto the diningroom table. All the guts (vents/duct) of this a/c is in a crawlspace and it's packed in there pretty good with very little wiggle room. I did what I could to get the water to stop leaking onto the floor of the crawlspace, including moving the pan ever-so-slightly so the water dripped into the pan, and not from the bottom of the air duct, onto the crawlspace floor, and also bought a water pump to pump out what water was in the pan, but that only worked temporarily. The pan was cracked so water was leaking out of the crack as well and because the pipe taking the excess water out of the house was clogged, there wasn't much more I could do. After calling one vendor that was recommended - and never getting a call back - I looked up places on Angie's List and found Climate Technologies. Reviews were excellent and they are also in the same town I live in. I left a message, told them what I was experiencing and that I hoped they could help. I got called back within the hour by Steve. He told me they could help and that Leo would be by in a couple hours. Leo showed up at the time I was told he would and checked everything out. He told me what the problem was and what he could do to fix it. It took him about three hours from start to finish. There was so much water in the pan it filled the wet/dry vac twice! He cleaned out the clog in the pipe that exhausts the collected condensation out of the system, (and I think he had to install new pvc pipe to do that) cleaned out the duct of the water that had backed up and fixed the crack in the drip pan. He also washed the air filter (it's a permanent filter) as that was dirty too. Since then that drip pan is bone dry, and all condensation is draining out to the gutters and on the ground - OUTSIDE the house - where it should be! I'm very thankful to Climate Technologies - they were great from the first contact. Leo is terrific - great personality and a very good technician. I will be calling Climate Technologies in the Spring for a seasonal check up and cannot thank them (and Leo) enough for the help they provided. I definitely recommend Climate Technologies.
Description of Work: Cleaned out a blockage in the overflow pipe and also fixed the drip pan so it no longer leaked.

Climate Technologies is a model company for how customers should be treated. Even though by now they have unfortunately lost a lot of money on my high velocity AC installation, they have stood behind their work for the past 6+ years, regardless of the cost and time required to ensure everything works properly. I am very impressed with them, they are responsive, they return phone calls, and they have a relentless commitment to customer satisfaction. When other companies could have easily skipped town, Climate Technologies stepped it up. I am confident that I made the right choice when I picked them many years ago and I only wish other companies had the same integrity as these folks. I highly recommend them because they stand behind their product.
Description of Work: Climate technologies replaced my Unico air handler and refrigerant lines, checked for any leaks, and recharged the system with refrigerant. I would estimate that the services provided were in excess of $3-5K between parts and labor, but was provided free of charge because of their commitment to ensure that my high velocity AC system operates properly.

To finally resolve this problem required the technicians to utilize a high-tech refrigerant leak detector and then they had to correct any issues that were found. I am highly confident that I picked the right company since they have continued to stand behind their work. I wish I could say the same about every other business that I have hired. I highly recommend this company for your A/C needs.
Description of Work: This is the hardest working and most trustworthy A/C company in the state, if not the entire country. For some background, Climate Technologies installed our high velocity AC system about 4-5 years ago since then, we have had a slow / difficult to find leak in the refrigerant line which has required them to come out to investigate the problem numerous times. Certainly I prefer never having a problem, but this company has never let me down. They are extremely responsive and they stand behind their work which is the most you can expect from a company you do business with.

Excellent results and experience. Chose Climate Tech after considering other contractors, even though one contractor quoted slightly less. Don Martin and the Climate Tech crew did great work even though it was a challenging installation in an old building without much space to install the a/c. Don problem solved quickly and effectively when the building's structure presented unforeseen obstacles to installation - Don and Mike were able to devise plans that did not compromise the effectiveness of the system nor the looks of the condo. The unico system has been working great at cooling, dehumidifying and filtering the air. Strongly recommend.

We had been considering replacement of our ancient, dust-collecting, rusty-looking, hot water radiators which heated our home well, but somewhat unevenly, in our 1929 Dutch Colonial. We also wanted to move away from window air conditioning units that had to be put in and taken out each season and finally move into the world of central air. I looked into conventional central a/c and heating and the quotes I got were more expensive or equal in price and because the required large ductwork would practically eliminate my already pathetic closet space and be much, much more invasive. So HVSD was definitely the only viable way for us to proceed, if at all. I remembered hearing about HVSD at a wedding years ago from my husband's colleague who had used Climate Technologies for installations in 2 different homes and he couldn't stop talking about how great it was. (Since then he's had it done in a 3rd home, too.) Fast forward to 2008 when I've finally saved enough money to consider having the work done. I asked my husband to get the name of this contractor and it was Don Martin at Climate Technologies. I contacted them in mid-April of 2008 and Steve Martin came out within a day or so. I signed a contract at the end of April and they came to do the job in early May 2008. Although I had good recommendation on which to base this decision, I was reluctant to do the whole house all at once, because I still worried about the potential for noise/loudness of the HVSD and if we would be happy, which is why I only contracted for the upper floor. I wanted a soup to nuts job (removal of my aforementioned humongous radiators, electrical, central heat and a/c, air filtration for my child with seasonal allergies, etc.). The work took a day or so longer than I thought it would, but that can be partly attributed to them not doing something invasive, which they avoided by thinking outside the box--in this particular case, running a drainage pipe so it would flow into my gutter, instead of a quicker, uglier solution. I did not submit this report earlier because although we used our a/c over the summer, I wanted to test my heat during the first winter, too, so I could give a thorough report. At the end of the summer I was satisfied enough to schedule Phase 2 (ground floor/lower level) for the fall. We are very happy with our HVSD heating and cooling system and the work performed by Climate Technologies.
Description of Work: They installed a HVSD (High Velocity Small Duct) heating and A/C system in the second floor of my circa 1929 home, and we were so pleased with the results that we had them install an HVSD unit in the basement and the first floor of our home as well.

The rep. came out in about 2 week time from the initial contact. I asked him how he calculated what we need for tons for the compressor and expressed uncertainly if the unit presently on the house was the correct size. The rep. didn't do any special calculations taking into regard number of windows, doors but moved quickly to selling us high velocity system in which they specialize. So the house would have two systems, one in the basement and one over in the attic with new high velocity ducts installed in the ceiling. This was an over selling in this case. It doesn't make any economical sense nor it would not mean a well balanced system. We had 2 other contractors established in business give us an estimates to what makes sense to a home owner accounting for energy use and comfort, and they did discourage us from putting high velocity system as it is better used in old buildings without ductwork in place and with space constraints. One of those contractors jump started our system for the summer which took him less then 10 minutes so we could see what the distribution of heat is like in our house during the hot month. thanks to that we know that the cool/heat is fairly uniformed throughout the house, without any comfort issues. Again, this would have been an over sell of a system that is quite expensive.
Description of Work: The rep. came out to give us an estimate to change a compressor in 3500 sq ft house. The compressor outside was 20 yrs old and would not give any cool air, but it would spin. With the compressor we would change the coil in the basement as well, all the duct work was in place.

The company was prompt in setting an appointment and the estimator arrived on time; however, things went downhill from there. The estimator engaged in poor humor from the start and took over an hour of my time to assess a house of less than 1,200 sq. ft. It's been two weeks, and I have yet to see an estimate from them. It's just as well, as my experience with their estimator would not make me inclined to hire them.

We also like to take our time when evaluating a potential customer's home and take pride in being known as quality company. Climate Technology's estimate was the higher of the three I received, but was full service, including all associated costs for electrical and drain, which others did not. Work started a few weeks later on Monday 3/31. The job took two days to complete the physical install. Both days they were late by over an hour. The second day they asked to show up early, by 7AM to avoid traffic, I agreed, but they still didn't show till close to 9AM. The crew was young and did not appear to be greatly experienced, with the exception of one, they were however friendly and took care to lay down plastic and not leave a mess. Because of the age of the building (100 yrs) and the height of the roof next door, the install was a little complicated. Neighbors allowed them on their roof and condenser pipe was run up into the ceiling joists before exiting the exterior wall in order to clear the roof next door. The electrical was a sub. I requested a copy of the city permit to run the electrical (I had verified with city hall this was needed) to run a new circuit off our breaker box. No copy was provided and i was told to contact the sub if I needed it. During the install several holes were made in the drywall, including dislodging a previous patch I was not aware of in my wall when running the drain. At the end of the second day they spackled these holes. Since the spackle was still wet, it could not be painted. I was told they would sand and paint these holes in a few days. We verbally agreed on Thursday, 4/3 for this finish work. Per my contract I should have withheld 1/3 of the total cost, but instead the lead installer proposed withholding $500.00 as there was not much to do, I agreed. I was told by the lead installer that someone else from the company would come out to do this finish work who had more experience with mini-split systems and that if i had additional questions on the operation of the system to let him know. Thursday came and went and no one showed. I called and spoke to someone at the office and was told I would get a call back. I was next contacted at the end of May and August, both times for collections. Both times I explained the situation and was told someone would call me back. In August I was told that the finish work was never part of the contract and they were 'trying to be nice' when it was offered. I was offered a $25.00 discount for the one hole I had sanded and painted myself, but was told one way or another I still owed the remainder of the cost, even if they didn't come back out. After reading the owners manual for the AC, it is not supposed to be installed in a kitchen, it is directly over my stove. It is supposed to have full clearance from the ceiling to the floor, it does not, it sits right above my cabinets. The dust filter caught on fire and melted last month, they suggested I go to the manufacturers website to order a replacement and did not offer to fix it.

We interviewed a half dozen different companies and Don @ Climate Technologies was by far the most responsive and his pricing was extremely competitive. During the installation, the team worked very hard to ensure that they did a clean installation job. After the work was done, we called him to add another HV drop in to a room and Don immediately came out to take care of this. I would high recommend Don and Climate Technologies.

The Unico system sold to us is great and works well. Climate Technolgies did a good overall job installing the system, but could have been more accurate predicting the requirements of the system equipment and the time to install. CT did not correctly assess and convey the size of the equipment installed in the house, which takes up a pretty large portion of what was attic storage space. None of the components fit where the initial estimator had indicated. The 5 to 7 business days to do the installation stretched out to 18 days total. Part of the problem is that the installation staff was onsite for 8 hours per day, but worked 5 or 6 hours with long breaks and no supervision. The installers took liberties in the rooms of the home, and did not totally contain tool damage and debris from drilling etc. I would recommend the system and the company with the caveat that the installation workers must be monitored quite closely if the homeowner is a stickler for tidiness.
Description of Work: They installed central air-conditioning to older home. The home did not have forced hot air heating and the architectural integrity of the home had to remain intact. A 3.5 ton chiller was installed with air handler, condenser unit and air filtration system.
