Topping Landscaping

Ron Topping arrived about 8AM Monday morning and proceeded to power wash the walkways. After a couple hours his power washer broke down and he had to rent another unit to continue on. He worked hard in the hot humid weather finishing the walkways and driveway about 3PM. Tuesday morning at 7:30AM Ron returned with two employees and the three worked hard in the hot humid weather to remove the low spot driveway pavers, level the areas with new stone dust and replace the pavers. Then the three guys spread new polymeric sand, brushed it in thoroughly, and blew off the excess. They then lightly sprayed the entire area with water to activate the polymeric sand material and cleaned up the job site and left about 3:30PM. Ron returned at 7:30AM on Wednesday to remove some oil stains that the busted power washer had left. The pavers look like new now and the driveway no longer has tire tracks. Good job!

Called for an estimate. They said that they would be out in a few days and drop off a quote. I never received a quote. If they didn't want the job, maybe they could have just told me.

Did a very nice job installing a curved walkway

told us it would be about 3 months to start the work. Never heard back from him in writing or in person. Very nice person. The first time we scheduled and this happened he came to the house and explained the delay and apologised

A three man crew arrived around 10:15AM as estimated in an email from Ron Topping. The first day was spent about three hours doing the edging and prep work for the mulch. The second day the same men arrived about 7:30AM and mulched for about three hours distributing 6 cubic yards of hemlock mulch from their truck. They cleaned up the property and the street where the truck had been parked during the unloading process. All debris was removed from the property. The workers were pleasant and took care to keep things tidy and handled the shrubs with care. A very good experience!

Topping Lanscaping came right out and did as stated on the proposal, plus a little above and beyond which was greatly appreciated. The guys all worked hard and were friendly. Will have them out again to do work in the future.

This is the third year I used Ron's team for spring cleanup, dethatching, mulching and removing dead plants due to the harsh winter. Ron was very responsive, even though he is extremely busy due to all the work backed by this past winter. His team are punctuate, showing up at the promised, did a great job, and always cleaned up before they left. My yard looks great after the spring cleanup and new mulches being applied. Ron always provides great services at a reasonable price.

Ron was very professional, punctual and did great work. He was not as much of a salesman at the time of the estimate as another landscaper we talked to, but we were glad that we chose him.

Ron Topping did a great job installing our irrigation system. We had multiple estimates from different companies and his was by far the best. We have a very large yard and Ron installed 50 heads and 9 zones. They did an amazing job. I expected a big mess but when I got home from work I hardly could tell anyone was even working in my yard. Ron took the time to explain how everything worked and adjusted every head to make sure I had even coverage in my plant/flower beds as well as the lawn. If you have any problems at all he comes right out and takes care of the situation. We also had Ron and his crew do our mulch and mulch beds, install cobble stone around some beds, add rock to some beds and make a few small walkways. We are very impressed with Topping Landscaping and will continue to have Ron do our landscaping projects and also take care of the weekly mowing and maintenance.

After some delays (expected this time of year), Ron completed the work completed and per estimate. It's not always the case that a contractor does everything exactly like you wanted him/her to do, but Ron did the first time around, which was great. Will use again in future.

The end result exceeded our expectations. A great deal of care and time was taken to cut the pavers to fit the curve of the walk properly and to keep the spacing between the pavers to a minimum. The FineLine pavers have slight color variations between each block and Topping did a great job of mixing the colors and patterns to achieve a terrific end result with great curb appeal. In addition we asked to have the concrete block edging near the front walk replaced with something that would improve the appearance. Ron suggested cobblestones and we relied on his judgement as to what would look best. The cobblestones were a great idea and should hold up much better than the concrete blocks.

We had 5 trees removed and when the stumps were ground it left a LOT of mulch on the side of the yard. So we decided to have all that mulch removed and the area cleaned up as well as to remove all the mulch around the base of the house and replace it with stone. Ron and his team showed up on time, worked in a quick and professional manner, and left our yard looking amazing. There was stone left over and Ron offered to place it in a few other areas of our yard for free, which was great. They accidentally broke one of our sprinkler heads but Ron replaced right on the spot. When they were done, they cleaned up after themselves so it was as if they had never been there! I would definitely recommend this company!

Ron from Topping Landscaping did not honor the coupon deal I purchased, as it was intended. It was suppose to be 8 hours of labor and $40 an hour for addition time over the 8 hours for $249. Instead of doing the 8 hours of work on the items that I needed done, he itemized everything that I wanted done and came up with a cost of $700. Then he subtracted the $249 dollar voucher deal that I had purchased. So I still would have to put out almost an additional $500 just to get started with the work. I contacted Angie's List to make sure that I understood the deal correctly and it was confirmed that Ron was not honoring the deal as it was intended. I since have found a landscaper (also from Angie's List) that would do the work for $185 dollars vs. the $700 dollars from Topping Landscaping. I just needed a small 8x8 area of land cleaned out. The $249 voucher should have been just enough to take care of that small task. I am not pleased at all with Topping Landscaping. In addition, after Ron quoted the $700 price, I asked him when he can do the work. He said in a few weeks and then never called me back. I have never been treated so bad and disrespectful from anyone that I have used from Angie's List. Ron is the worst.

Topping Landscaping did a great job on our project. Ron is very responsive and his crew actually showed up a day early. The bushes and surrounding property look really great. His crew is very personable and professional and they were very easy to deal with deal with and discuss the various aspects of the project. The grounds were left in an immaculate condition.

I was a little disappointed with the responsiveness I received after purchasing the deal they offered on Angie's List. They came out to our property in the fall to take a look at what it was that we wanted to have done, which really wasn't much. Since we'd never used a landscaper before, I wasn't sure what to ask at that time. I followed up the visit with an email asking several questions (how would we decide on plants, who would be responsible for purchasing them, how much would services cost that were above/beyond the services in the deal offered, etc.). My email was answered with a "see you in the spring". I waited until the end of winter to follow up again, but had to email several times before I got any response at all. At that time, they came out to our property again to go over the same things they did in the fall. We decided that I would pick out and purchase the plants. It was not clear that I was also supposed to buy soil. The actual clean up looked great and I was more than happy. However, it's hard to judge if I got the value I paid for, which was supposed to be 8 hours of landscape labor (1 person for 8 hours, or 2 people for 4 hours). They brought out a larger team and were done pretty quick. I would not use this service again, just based on the kind of communication that I had.

Ron is always responsive through email or phone. His team showed up early in the morning and did an excellent job of edging and weeding, in preparation for mulching. Ron also brought a holly bush to replaced the dead one upfront. When I saw the holly, I told him it was too small and didn't match well with the others. Ron said no problem and he was going to find me a bigger bush. Two days later, his team came back to spread 4-yard of mulch around our flower bed and they also replaced the dead holly with a similar size holly. Overall I am very pleased with the work and I will hire them in the fall.

Ron was great. Very professional, returned calls promptly, delivered on time and did an exceptional job without any oversight or interaction needed. We found Ron here on AngiesList and would gladly recommend him to anyone in the area looking for lawncare, clean up or landscaping services. We're very pleased so far across the board and look forward to working with Ron for many years to come.

It was good, there was just a misunderstanding about what the deal was for. I thought it was for landscaping and it was more for yard work.

Ron was very responsive right from the start. Getting a quote, setting up an appointment and showing up for the work. He and his team were very efficient, courteous and finished the work in promised time. I am very impressed with efficiency and will definitely use them for future lawn/garden maintenance
