They surprised us with a bill for almost $1,000 to replace a faucet for several hours of work. The plumber arrived at approximately 10:30 am, diagnosed the problem, then left at around 10:45 am to get the part. He returned at 11:45 am, and then finished and left at around 1:15 pm. Actual labor (installing the faucet was no more than 1.5 hours). I was initially told that the faucet would be high quality, and a high quality picture was shown to me on a website. It should a faucet valued at about $400.00 (price shown). Then the plumber called me to tell me that the supplier didn't have that one in stock, and that they would use an alternate one. The alternate one appears to be of more lower quality. After installing it, the plumber mentioned that it was a "basic" faucet. I looked it up on the internet and it appears to be valued less than $200.00. So, $800.00 for a very short amount of plumbing labor? We are both health care providers, and we don't make anywhere near that kind of money. The work performed seems to be sufficient, but I think we were way overcharged based on the neighborhood we live in. I think they are that kind of company that will milk money out of you if they think you have it.

Please, can you help me? I am an 82 year old woman with spinal stenosis, bad knees and a balance problem. Last month we called Medford Wellington Services to replace a handicapped toilet in our master bath and on Sept. 22, a plumber from MWS came here to measure. Our toilet was 19? high and my husband said we needed one the same height. Richard, the plumber, measured, went out and brought back a toilet and installed it. He gave my husband a bill, for $1144.00 and my husband paid by check. It was only later when I tried to use it that I realized it was a much lower toilet. My husband measured and it was only 16 inches high. He went out to the plumber?s to complain the next day and the woman in the office, when she heard what happened said it would be replaced with one of the proper height, free of charge. The next day when my husband called to schedule an appt., she said she had spoken with the plumber who told her that when he went to their supplier, it was the tallest toilet they had. Besides it was ADA approved, and he refused to make good on it for us. I think this is consumer fraud! Please can you help me? Yours truly, [Member Information Redacted]

It was an extremely difficult time to schedule service due to the extreme cold. Another local provider called us to let us know it would be at least a day before they could reach us. Medford Wellington acquired R&R Battista Plumbing. Battista did an excellent job upgrading our furnace, and hot water heater and getting us set up with a separate water meter for irrigation. The service guys are very professional, clean up after themselves and explain what they are doing. I like that they insist on using the direct entrance to the basement.
Description of Work: Our boiler went out during a night of extreme cold. We called in the morning. But then found another provider who promised to get here sooner. The second provider was overwhelmed and the manager called us back to apologize. After being on again off again - Medford Wellington fit us in around 11:30 pm. They were very understanding about the flip-flop. The technician serviced the boiler, and restarted it without needing to replace major parts.

It went extremely well. My closet is probably the smallest in Boston. They had to remove my washer and dryer to get to the HVAC - this was not an easy job. Rich and Tom were extremely professional. Tom was great to talk to over the phone and was very prompt with responses. Rich arrived in the am and worked for 8 hours straight without a single break. Despite working 8 hours the price was extremely reasonable. We have used RR Battista now Medford Wellington many times in the past and they are always professional, on time and helpful. Because they charge by the hour they offer to help fix other things if they finish before the hour as well which is extremely kind.
Description of Work: Replaced our water heater. In the past RR Battista (which is now part of Medford Wellington) fixed our shower, put in a new garbage disposal, and put in our washer and dryer.
