 + 0 moreThe pipes were supposed to be under pressure before/when the new deck was laid. Later we found out the pipes were not holding pressure - when the remodeled pool was started there was a gushing leak under the deck due to the busted pipe . The contractor should have seen the lack of pressure on the monitor and should have fixed the pipes before the day the deck was laid. Too many sub-contractors showing up and not caring about the overall outcome of the project. the pool is still loosing more water than before the remodeling and no one can identify and fix the leak...

 + -1 moreExcellent. Caulking is smooth as glass. Company had previously replaced the tile, and copin as well as new caulking seven years ago. Owner of the company told me what I was doing wrong that caused water to get under the coping, and freeze which lifted the coping, and knocked tiles off. since following his instructions, have had no problem. He did say evry 6-7 years, caulking should be replaced, which we just did. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Replaced the caulking around our 20 by 40 foot gunite pool.

 + -1 moreCalled them on Wednesday 8/13/14 and left a detailed message with my name and phone number. It is now Sunday 8/17/14 and I have not heard back from them. To me I find this inconsiderate. Would I use them in the future........maybe. However if they cannot return a simple phone call how would they handle a difficult job of filling in a pool? I wonder. I am looking around for another company.

Several times work was scheduled and no one showed. Overall quality was good, but some small items were frustratingly left incomplete.

 + -1 moreVery well- Charlie negotiated the best price we found. He seemed to present an honest set of alternatives (based on what we were willing to spend), and we never felt pushed on the decisions. The work went generally on schedule. When he discovered the old deck was 50% thicker than normal he absorbed the extra cost of removal. When the work was done there was a slow leak caused by a cracked pipe. His plumber returned several times until it was repaired. In a business (pool rebuilding) which has no regulations or oversight there is plenty of opportunity to spend sizable amounts on an inferior job. Happily, artistic pools is an honest, competent team that can be trusted.
Description of Work: Our Gunite pool (18,000 gal) concrete deck and coping were completely replaced and the pool was re-plastered. The basic gunite pool walls were intact but the coping and deck were cracked and shifted. We worked with Charlie on the new deck design as well as the surface finishes. The work included deck and coping removal, casting a new upper lip, pouring the new deck and finally plastering the interior. After two summers and a winter the results remain excellent - no cracking or other deterioration. The final result literally looks like a brand new, up to date pool.

 + 1 moreArtistic Pools did a really good job. I talked to a number of different people about how to do it. This guy came in as one of the higher prices, but he convinced me that doing it this way it would actually last. Winters, water and freezing, are really hard on pool decks, but doing it with a cantilevered deck is the only way for it to be survivable for the long term. He showed me several. I actually went and looked at other pools he had done and went and watched him install a deck similar to mine. He was very interactive with showing how it was done, explaining to me in detail why it was the right way to do it, and we actually spent a lot of time talking about this. In the end I was convinced his was the right way to go and it looks great. I just wanted to make sure. Fairly recently, about 7 years ago, I had the same work done and it fell apart. This time I was more cautious on how it was done.
Description of Work: Artistic Pools did my pool deck. They removed the old deck, replaced the deck, and replaced all the tile for an in ground gunnery pool.

 + -1 moreCharlie from Artistic Pools is an old school professional, meaning he takes very good care of his customers. He consistently stayed in touch, provided reasonable and accurate estimates, described each step (we had deck repair, tile repair, new coping/deck gasket and a new safety cover installed over the course of two weeks), and he or his workmen were always there when they said they would be. He has a lifetime of experience in local pool construction, and knows the strong and weak points of the various pool installers over the last 30-40 years. He knew the name and specs of our 35 year old pool. He has many talented and reliable subcontractors at his disposal, and ran the whole show while keeping us well-informed. Wish more contractors were like this!
Description of Work: Our primary job was the installation of a safety cover for our inground pool. However, we also needed some deck repair (cracks around our ladder, and the removal of an old diving board base), and some tile repair, and replacement of the deck/coping gasket seal.

Description of Work: This is the second time we hired this contractor - this time for a patio at our cottage in Westford. We had a very uneven hilly side where we placed our outdoor furniture. It was so uneven; we had our picnic table and chairs set on bricks to keep them straight. The yard was thick lumpy wood mulch and unpleasant to walk on. The owner came with several different workers to survey the property to obtain the best option. To say the least, it was a challenging spot. He quickly drew up some plans and reviewed with us and different price options. They started the work on time and completed everything in a few days. The workers never seemed to stop or take breaks. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. They did an outstanding job and everyone that has seen it is totally impressed. The patio is approximately 300 sq ft, made of pavers with a border outlining it. The lot required a small retaining wall in one section to prevent debris from a hill from falling down on the patio. A few days later, we noticed one of the pacers had a chip in the corner. We called the owner and he had it replaced within 2 days. We love the new patio and use it all the time. We would highly recommend this company. Excellent work, ethics, and prices.

 + 0 moreFrom start to finish the service experience provided was excellent. The owner came to the house with one of his crewmembers to survey the site. He offered ideas and valuable feedback. Since the walkway was so long, he offered cost-cutting suggestions. We decided to go with all his suggestions and go with the pavers. It took them only a few days to complete. They were there early to very late each day - rain or shine. The finished walkway has made a huge difference in our curb appeal and home value. It is a very professional job and the artisanship excellent. They were easy to do business with and answered all our questions completely. We would highly recommend them and are planning to hire them again for an outside patio.
Description of Work: We needed a new walkway from our front street area to the front door (which is actually on the side of the house). We bought the house a few years ago and had been wondering what to do and not break the bank . It had just been stone dust which had long run off and was not very appealing. The length had been cost prohibitive - over 120 feet long & 4 feet wide. We had looked at many different options and felt pavers would be beyond our budget. After discussing with the owner, he offered to come out and take a look.

Description of Work: Our 30 year old gunite pool had a cracked surrounding pad and deteriorated plaster. Artistic provided a very competitive quote to replace the pad and re-plaster. They were willing to work with us to keep the price reasonable and to create a more updated look. Despite having to remove a much thicker than expected pad, they held to their quote. The work went quickly and the results were beautiful - basically we ended up with a brand new pool. After completion there was an issue with a leaking pipe, which they investigated and worked on for several days to correct. As they mentioned, pool rebuilding is an unregulated industry with many questionable contractors. Artistic pools, on the other hand, was very professional.

 + -1 moreexcellent. large, very experinced crew. put in full day's work, no slacking. took five day's. owner said he would be on site the last day, for the entire day. he was, as well as his wife. we wanted a company to fill the pool. he even set that up. explained in writing what we must do during the winter to eliminate tile, and coping destruction, which is probably the reason why the tile and coping failed on our sixteen year old gunite pool.
Description of Work: complete coping and tile for a 20'x40' gunite pool. waited until 10/09 to submit report. wanted to make sure there were no problems.
