KEENAN CONSTRUCTION CO INC

Description of Work: Ed Keenan of Keenan Construction first pulled a building permit for Lee Belanger to renovate my home knowing he was an unlicensed carpenter. Lee Belanger was paid for services and never completed them. He also performed shoddy and incorrect carpentry in the installation of windows, French doors, and molding to exterior doors, He currently owes me at least $7,500. He began work on a basement clean room , was paid in full and never completed it. He stole radiators from the property and illegally dumped building materials from other jobs behind my garage. I contacted Ed Keenan because his name was on the Building Permit issued by the City of Beverly. Ed Keenan told me Lee Belanger had done this to him at least two other times when he pulled a permit for him. All the while, Ed Keenan was pulling building permits for an unlicensed, unscrupulous thief. Ed Keenan came to my home, which was unoccupied and agreed to complete the remodel correctly for a total cost of approximately $39,000. It has been over a year and he has been paid $37,000. He rarely showed up, as promised to complete projects. I have holes throughout the home that he left unmatched. He installed a tile bathroom floor and shower wall so poorly that the floor needs to be ripped up and reinstalled with new tile. the tiles are sticking up and could cut a person's foot. Some areas are missing grout. He left grout on them for over 2 weeks while he "Went on vacation." He never finished the shower wall so, the tub can't be used. I paid him thousands to do this as well as sand/wax the hardwood floors throughout the home. Before he disappeared for two weeks, he walked all over the newly polished floors with grout on his shoes. He keft grout-encrusted drip marks on the floors and in my new sinks. There are stains on the drain in my new porcelain sink in the kitchen. He left grout colored footsteps throughout the entire house! The hardwood floors need to be done over again. He told me to make check marks on the tiles in the bathroom that were improperly installed and he would replace them. He also told me he would take care of the damage to the hardwood floors. My home is in shambles because of Ed Keenan's damage. The damage to the hardwood floors was done purposely. He should have known better. What reputable contractor would not put a tarp down if he had to walk on the floors which were newly refinished. He has work to do in every room in the house and HE HAS BEEN PAID! He sent me a text message that I owed him $7,000 + and if I didn't pay him, he was "moving on.". I tried contacting him by phone, left voicemail messages, emailed him, and texted him. He refuses to contact me. I told him I was happy to sit down with him, face to face to discuss it as I found his mistake; I found a $7,100 mistake on his final invoice. Contacted him to discuss it and he agreed that it should be removed. I deducted it and wrote a final check for $17,00 on June 3. He now wants that money and will not acknowledge his mistake. He wants to charge me for work that was never done , overcharged for, or simply not requested due to it being so costly. I have repeatedly asked to meet with me and he ignores my requests. I have reported him to the BBB and have contacted the MA Attorney General's Office. They have contacted numerous times with phone calls and letters to sit down at the North Shore Mediation Center to discuss this issue. He has ignored these repeated attempts. I want my money back or I want him to do what he has been paid to do, he sent a lie-filled narrative to the BBB . I disputed it in writing and asked why he wouldn't meet with me. Never received a reply. Instead, he sent me 4 letters accusing me of "crossing the line" with my letter to the Better Business Bureau. He has threatened me by stating he is going to send slanderous letters to the Mayor of Peabody, the "School Board," and the Principal of te school in which I teach telling them how "underhanded". I am! He has also threatened to place a Mechanics Lien on my home. All this and he has been paid in full! Additionally, the address he uses on his business card is erroneous. It is the address of his brother's office. Ed Keenan works out of "an office I built on the back of my parent's house." Worst of all, he refuses to return the keys to my home. Who would want to sleep in a home when the cowardly contractor kept the keys. Not only is Ed Keenan unscrupulous, he is a coward! He is obviously guilty or he would have no problem discussing the issues. I am preparing this same narrative for the MA Contractor's Licensing Board. If he values his license, he will have to appear before them. Ed Keenan is not going to get away with this. I am fully prepared to pursue all legal channels available to me. His will be held accountable for his lies, thievery , and threats. Angie's List members, stay away from Keenan Construction and spread the word!

Description of Work: We had installed a ceiling fan; however, were not able to get the wall switches to work. Their rep was prompt, courteous, and very helpful. He installed a new light switch for us and it works great.
