In today's day and age of communication and competition I wouldn't and shouldn't expect to be treated the way I was by these representatives from Beverly Glass Co. I realize I should have read the estimate better or followed up sooner but then again the technician who visited my home should have explain the deposit process and that they didn't deal with insurance companies. There is NO EXCUSE for a customer service representative, whether its and administrative assistant or a transactional employee, to treat a customer the way I was treated. I had no idea how their process worked and I shouldn't have to. I also shouldn't have to be admonished or yelled at or treated rudely for not expecting them to conduct business in a way other than what I expected. A better experience would have been for them to say "Oh. Hey, no wait a minute. Sorry you got confused there. We need a deposit. By the way sorry that your that your house was broken into and you've had a boarded up door in your home for over a week but we only operate on deposits and we don't go through insurance. If you come down and give us a check we can put that order in for you right away and hopefully it won't be too long till the works done." Also I find it odd and inconvenient that a company that replaces and repairs home and auto glass doesn't deal with insurance companies. That probably wouldn't have deterred me from going with them had I figured out their billing process sooner, but it might deter some. If anyone ever tells asks me about this company or replacing and repairing glass in general, or if I ever have any conversation with anyone about break-ins or broken glass or home insurance or replacing glass I will tell them this story and I will recommend that they shouldn't contact Beverly Glass Co. under any circumstances.
Description of Work: Initially I thought this would be a great experience. I figured I'd get work done quickly while giving business to a local company but boy was I wrong. Please bare in mind I JUST got off the phone with this company. My house was robbed about a week ago. The thieves entered by breaking a sliding glass door on my property. I had a boarding company come out that night to clean the glass and board it up and they billed my insurance directly. I called Beverly Glass Co. the next day to come out and give me an estimate for the glass and any damage to the door. They were there at 8:45 the next morning which I was extremely pleased with. The technician seemed like he knew what he was doing, and quoted me a fair price with a paper estimate for my insurance company. The technician told me it was safety glass so it would take a week to get here. I was pleased with their punctuality and professionalism till that point, I was fine with the wait so I wanted to move forward with the work. I told him I wanted their company to perform the work and I would pay whatever they quoted plus any additional expenses so long as the door was fixed to its original condition. At that point I figure the technician would put in the order for the work and in a week or two I'd have a new sliding glass door. Fast forward 8 days, I called them to check the status of the order and the representative told me she didn't know anything about the order. She said they didn't have any order, no order was ever put in and that I needed a deposit in order for any work to get done, which is fine but that wasn't communicated to me at the time of the estimate. That wasn't my major problem though. When I starte to ask why no order was put in she got upset and it seemed like she was getting angry with me for not figuring out the process. She talked to me like I was stupid, like I didn't know anything about Beverly Glass' ordering process....which I don't. Since the boarding company billed my insurance company directly, I figured a company that repairs and replaces glass would do the same. She got very upset when I asked her about this and said that they didn't do any work without a deposit from a customer and they didn't deal with insurance companies at all, again basically admonishing me for expecting a glass repair company to deal with insurance companies. Finally, she told if I wanted the work done or an order to be placed I needed to have a deposit. Now, there is a line on the estimate that says "50% deposit required for special orders." But then, I was willing to wait for the order and I didn't figure there was anything special about a standard size window pane for a sliding glass door, at least not for a local glass company. Also I figured that they woul be dealing with my insurance company.
