+ -1 moreI was a long time customer of Whiting Oil of Western Massachusetts, which unbeknownst to me was bought out by Dead River. I was in a bind with no heat, and called Whiting for boiler service. I told them to let themselves in because I was not nearby. The guy came and left because Dead River wants cash on the barrel, even for long time customers. Unlike Whiting, Dead River doesn’t trust it’s customers enough to do the $215 service and send a bill. When I had payment in advance squared away, the guy come back but refused to work on the boiler because it has asbestos. At least a quarter of the old homes in the area have asbestos in the basement, which is only hazardous if it is in bad shape and crumbling. There are lots of small local oil companies around. I will call one now.

Description of Work: I had them come in to do and estimate for a basement bathroom. I had purchased all fixtures, and needed the rough in plumbing done. In there estimate which was quite high, they stated they were not responsible if they broke or damaged any of our fixtures. Decided not to go with a company that put in writing they were not liable for damage done by them.

Description of Work: Name:Joseph A. Parzych MemberID: 5948328 I had good and bad experiences with Country Oil. They did a good job of a furnace installation at one of my houses, but later installed an oil tank with fill & vent pipes obstructing electrical panel which does not meet code. Electrician called them and they installed the pipes correctly without charge. They replaced a hot water coil in a boiler at another house because it was leaking. The service manager said it would stop leaking when the boiler was in operation, which it appeared to do. Several months later, I had the oil tubing cemented in the floor which required shutting down the boiler, at which time the new coil installation began leaking. The repairman said it didn't show a leak while in operation because the heat evaporated the water as fast as it leaked. He drilled out the cap screws, now corroded, and replaced them with studs and nuts which he said should have been done in the previous installation so that the nuts could be tightened or removed without them corroding. He also ground the boiler surface smooth and doubled the gaskets. He stopped the leak, but I got a bill for about $485 because of the time needed to drill out the corroded cap screws which had broken off when attempting removal. When I complained of being charged for a call-back, the service manager reduced the bill by $200. Country Oil has excellent repairmen and lousy repairmen. I don't like being charged for worker incompetence. Despite years as a customer for service, furnace installation and fuel oil, I don't think I will continue doing business with Country Oil.

+ -1 moreCountry Oil Company is reputable. It’s a larger full service company. They sell heating oil and do plumbing and HVAC and what not. I think they are probably in line with any other company around here. They respond quickly. The technician who came out was very nice. He was very careful around the building.
Description of Work: I used Country Oil Company in October. They came to fix a wire extension in the outside of my house that was leaking. They had to take the entire system off and put new guts in the anti frost mechanism inside the house.

+ -1 moreI use them frequently. I have 11 bathrooms so something is always going wrong. They come right away. They are pretty prompt and I've used them for many years. The experience has been very good. The price is fair because plumbers are expensive.
