I wanted something very special for resetting my mother and my grandmother's diamonds into a single setting that I could wear all the time. I had gone to a couple of other jewelers based on strong recommendations from friends. I neither felt comfortable or confident that they would produce what I wanted. From the moment I met Tony I knew he would not only understand but take the time to do a great job. Over about 4 visits to his shop he spent almost 4 hours. He helped me decide on a center stone that would handle the wear and tear. I originally wanted a Tanzanite. Tony told me they were too fragile, identified a few other options including the Ceylon which is much lighter and has more brilliance. He hand selected the first set of stones within a week. We spent a long time looking at them in different lights and Tony listened to what I liked and did not. He then got additional stones a week later and they were beautiful. We were able to choose one that was just spectacular. Once we had selected the stone he spent so much time placing the stones in settings and on my hand, having me look at then in different lights so I would know exactly what it would look like when it was done. When it came to the setting I wanted a design on the band and he found just the right one. I am thrilled with the ring and get compliments from complete strangers.His work was amazing, price was excellent, I could not recommend anyone more strongly. In addition to being a fine jeweler, he is a wonderful person. I was struck by the constant stream of people that came in, his polite request for me to wait, which I did not mind a bit because I could see the care with which he treated every single person whether they were getting a battery replaced or designing a new piece. He did a great job. I told him what I needed and he was quite flexible in meeting my needs. The price did not go over the initial estimate and the work was done 5 days earlier than I had requested.

Both rings were repaired as I had requested and the workmanship was excellent. Tony kept in touch with me throughout the process as he was trying to match specific gem stones and the fit of the ring on my finger. He was very knowledgeable and professional. The final cost was actually less than the original estimate as he suggested using gold beads instead of a ring guard to keep it from rolling on my finger. The silver "frame" was beautiful and simple, well crafted and not too big to overshadow the amber itself, which hung beautifully. The price was fair and what within the range he had initially quoted. I gave it to my 16 year old daughter for Christmas, but it wasn't a hit. I guess the amber was too big for her 5 foot frame and it apparently wasn't her style. However, my wife loved it, wears it all the time, and gets lots of compliments on it! Thanks Tony! Job well done. Just sorry I waited so long to leave you this message! Merry Christmas!

Tony was wonderful. He was very attentive, patient and easy to work with. He never charged more than the estimate and you can tell he really cares about his work and loves his job. He is very knowledgeable about all types of jewelery and easy to work with. We will definitely use him in the future.

Tony was extremely courteous and pleasant. He examined the necklace with me and discussed the fact that its hollow links made it somewhat delicate and might make it impossible to reconstruct it completely. He gave me some options and discussed the magnitude and resulting appearance of each. We agreed on the option that would most closely match the necklace's original length and appearance. He quoted a price which I thought was very reasonable, and said that the necklace would be ready the following week. He gave me his card and pointed out to me that the shop is open on Wednesday evenings, to make it easier for me to plan when I would pick it up. He called me the following Tuesday to say the necklace was ready, and I picked it up the next evening. The necklace looked beautiful, exactly as I had hoped. When I was in the shop to pick it up, Tony gave me a recommendation for another shop that could take care of an unrelated matter (a silver coffeepot that needed repairs). I would not hesitate to visit Benchcraft again, either for repairs or to shop for jewelry. Tony was as nice as could be and treated me like a valued customer and friend.

Tony was initially reluctant to work on my locket because of its fragile state and damage from a shoddy previous repair done elsewhere. (Rather than gold solder, the previous repair had used lead solder, which showed as black edges and prevented a subsequent simpler repair method). However, with those caveats, he explained carefully how he would attempt to fix my locket, which has great sentimental value to me. He also replaced the piece that attaches the locket to a chain, which was in danger of detaching. He did a beautiful job and somehow managed to remove or hide the old, black edges, so that it looks better than it has in decades. He completed the work in less than a week.

The owner was wonderful. I was a little nervous about bringing costume jewelry in for repair because I didn't know if anyone would bother fixing it. But he was quite respectful of the piece's sentimental value, had a suitable stone, and now I can't even tell which one he replaced. He is that good. And the prices he charged were so reasonable. And he cleaned it up for me, also I noticed he cleaned up one of the watches when he replaced the battery, and did a fine job repairing the gold necklace too. He gave me information about and how to care for both necklaces. The jewelry displayed in his cases was very nice too. I noticed that he seemed very kind to everyone that came into his store - respectful to all! I will definitely use his services again and recommend him highly.

A tremendously positive experience. My bracelet had broken about a year ago and the jeweler had charged me $70 to repair it. With this new break, I went to Benchcraft and Tony explained to me why the bracelet was breaking and suggested that I remove a couple of links to prevent the problem from recurring. He soldered the broken links and charged me only $20. Tony is a very personable guy. I highly recommend Benchcraft!

The price was very reasonable and he was an extremely nice, scrupulous person. He was right on time and did beautiful work. I highly recommend him. He also tells you what you have and what it's worth.

Tony did a great job. He took the time to explain all that needed to be done, did it well, returned my old pieces, and had a great attitude. This was a religious medal that I like to keep on me, and Tony tried to get to it quickly so I would have it for the holidays.

They did excellent quality work. The owner was a really nice guy. He showed a lot of integrity about how much it would cost and tried to keep the costs of the jewelry repair very reasonable.

Tony was very knowledgeable and professional. He is very approachable with questions and does a great job. I've been there twice just as he was closing. He is very service oriented. And, of course, the work he does is outstanding. There is no reason to go downtown with his expertise!

Tony was very respectful and honest as he discussed the limited success he would expect in repairing these. He suggested options ranging from adapting them as half circles with backs for $5, to repairs that would cost about $45. I appreciated his creative approach to salvaging the earrings. He was knowledgeable and friendly. I chose the $5 repair but I plan to take different, more valuable earring in for him to repair.

HE NEVER SEEMS TO CHARGE WHAT HIS WORK IS WORTH AND HE IS A JOY TO DEAL WITH. HE GETS THE HIGHEST QUALITY STONES WHICH HE SELLS FOR FAR LESS THAN BIG JEWELRY STORES OR DEPARTMENT STORES. THESE ARE ONE OF A KIND PIECES YOU CAN AFFORD. HE WILL TELL YOU THE HONEST TRUTH ABOUT STONES AND THE RISKS OF THEM AND OF DIFFERENT STYLES AND WHY THE STYLES THE BIG STORES PUSH DON''T MAKE SENSE, FOR EXAMPLE BECAUSE ON A BRACELET YOU DON''T WANT STONES SET A CERTAIN WAY OR YOU WILL SURELY LOSE THEM. HE USED TO DO REPAIRS AT A BIG STORE SO HE KNOWS WHAT STONES AND DESIGNS ALWAYS COMES IN FOR REPAIR.
