I hired Debby, in large part, because of her social work background. I hoped that her background would help inform her interaction with a guy who has accumulated way too much lecture notes, scientific journals & articles, professional conference papers, etc., stored unfortunately/mostly in boxes rather than file cabinets. Because of a short time-line from her start of working with me until my grandson arrives, we didn't have the time to re-organize the attic storage area to which many of those boxes of papers were relegated. But she made it clear that was the only feasible option in the short term - because we agreed that temporary off-site storage was not wise. She pushes you to make the difficult in-the-moment, "so little time" decisions, and is not unwilling to make some of the decisions (e.g., putting some piles on top of other piles) if you move too slowly. She was very solicitous of how I was doing/feeling multiple times throughout the process. She was not hesitant to lift reasonably heavy boxes. Within a few days of her effort, I had accomplished enough on my own to have a quite decent space for a portable crib - although I still have a few small piles on my office desktop surface. She preceded my office declutter work with a thorough walk-through of most of the space in my home - which I think was important in giving her the sense of the clutter in other parts of my house. She is personable and was able to tolerate my anxious sarcasm. I will certainly consider using her in the future for better utilizing my attic storage space and decluttering another important room in my house.
Description of Work: I needed to declutter my home office to make space for a portable crib so my youngest grandson would have a separate quite room in which to sleep.

I was pleased with Debby’s services. She is very hands on. After I had a horrible experience with another organizer, I was nervous to hire anyone else. Debby eased these fears and I felt I got my money’s worth. She’s also kind and supportive. I only wish I had more income to have her over more often! Debby was enormously helpful. She helped me create a vision of what I needed in order to feel calmer and more productive in my office. She helped get stacks of paper and file folders off of my desk top, and my floor, and she helped get rid of unnecessary files and paper in my file drawers, so I could put needed and current files in them, therefore leaving the top of my desk uncluttered and only for current action items. I was inspired after she left to continue to declutter unneeded items on my desk, so that I now have a peaceful and much more "usable" system to get things done, so I am more productive, and I'm motivated to keep my office in good working condition. Debby is very collaborative, and she didn't try to change habits that I am committed to ("If you use piles and lists to organize, let's go with that" ). Overall she was tolerate, insightful, helpful, and a total pleasure to work with. And I have sustained the results! Now I'm ready to hire her again to help me organize my email... I recommend her without reservation.

Debby was totally professional and was amazingly fast at cleaning out an organizing my sons bedroom. She separated old toy, books, papers and clothing into separate boxes, got rid of things that were no longer useful and gave me resources on where to donate items that were in good condition. This task was hanging over my head for over two years and Debby came in and within a couple of hours the task was complete. She provided support and no judgement on getting rid of things that I had an emotional attachment to which was very helpful and needed. I will hire her again for future organizing projects in my home.

I never heard from her again. She was very abrupt and hung up on me when I was halfway thru explaining what I needed. I can understand them hanging up on me if they were really busy, but when she asked if she could call me back and I said yes and she put the phone down without taking any of my information.

I can’t recommend Debby highly enough. I never felt judged about any messy areas-she was always cheerful and supportive. I will keep using her-she gives great value for the price. I got more than I paid for. She is on a sliding scale so hourly rate is negotiable.
Description of Work: I had several areas of my house that I wanted to organize and clear of clutter. She helped me prioritize and estimate time frames. Usually we worked for 3-4 hours at a time. Debby was willing to work longer but I couldn’t. She is a tireless worker, refuses to break for food or drink, is funny and terrific to work with. She has great ideas about space artivend reusing resources. We sorted piles into trash, donation, and put away. She took the trash and the donation piles and gave me a receipt for the donations. Debby was very flexible and understanding. Even though my coupon had expired, she very graciously honored it and was willing to work with my schedule. She was cheerful, friendly, and supportive. What I really appreciated was her nonjudgmental attitude and ability to get things done fast! She seemed to be very experienced and helped me to see why my old system of organizing wasn't working. When we finished for the day I felt lighter and much more optimistic about my situation. We got a lot done in a very short amount of time.

We moved half a year ago, and we've been living with things being about 80% unpacked since then. I had gotten a quote from someone else before my initial meeting with Debby, and while that person would have charged less, I felt completely helpless and overwhelmed after she left the house: she had talked a lot about how much there still was to do and how hard it was for me and how it was all more than I could handle and a lot of things in that line. Debby, on the other hand, made some eminently practical suggestions right off the bat based on how to maximize the usability of the spaces we have and the purposes we want them to meet, and she couched everything in terms of "I can see what you're trying to do here; it seems overwhelming because you've been living with it, but I really think you're most of the way there." It might sound silly, but that difference in attitude and approach were vital for me. We tackled the basement playroom, an area that I had been at a complete loss for how to handle, and we not only had it mostly done by the end of one morning, but I looked at what was left and *I knew how to finish it*. I've since done that on my own. Prior to working with Debby, I would have sworn this would have been a multi-day project. In reality, I think it took between four and five hours in total.
Description of Work: Helped me organize several rooms, including an overly cluttered playroom, and sort through boxes of things from our last house. Made practical suggestions for how to handle some larger items and what to do with things we aren't ready to deal with yet.

Debbie was professional, friendly and had several suggestions of how she could help organize the items cluttering the rooms in my home. She was able to help me sort through everything and prioritize/decide on the importance of the items in each room. Debbie helped me to feel less overwhelmed and in the end created space that is now useable for me and my family. The process did not take too long and Debbie was flexible in arranging her visits around my very busy schedule. I would recommend her to anyone needing help with organizing and plan to use her again to help with me with my mothers home which is also in need of some organization.

It went well. As I said, Debby was happy to offer suggestions, but also actively went through piles of stuff to help us to decide what could be discarded, and then to help us organize and improve the appearance of the items we kept and the places we kept them. We were able to greatly improve a bedroom/office, kitchen, living room, multiple closets, and two stuffed basement storage areas. I can now see and find everything in there, and can actually walk into the space without climbing over and squeezing by piles. We now have a much more habitable and hospitable home, and Debby is responsible for a good part of that.
Description of Work: Debby had lots of great organizing ideas, but she also did hands-on stuff---sorting through uncountable clothes, books, and general stuff. She took clothing to be donated. She literally did heavy lifting. But most of all she found a way to motivate me to face and undertake the massive task of cleaning, purging, and organizing decades' worth of stuff. Not insignificantly, it made my wife very happy.

She offered to take away some of the books and items I was getting rid of, but it would be charged as part of my time (and she said it would take at least an hour and a half of the three hour session). I declined. I asked if we could actually do the three hours another time, as I had a lot of books to clear out and didn't want to spend my "time" on her bringing them to her preferred drop off place in Belmont. She charged me an additional $75 for the time she spent traveling to my house, talking for ten minutes, and then leaving.
Description of Work: Sent email about a date, did not confirm. Showed up at my house at the date/time she set. I was not ready. She charged me an extra $75 for her trip to my home, then left without doing anything. I paid $175 for nothing.

Debby helped me go through stacks of papers and clutter in two rooms that were making me feel defeated. She helped me break it down simply with keep, recycle, trash then we put it away in a designated place or in an alphabetized file. She is so quick at what she does and was a friend beside me making it fun in the process. I will definitely call Debby again in the future!

After avoiding the paper piles for so long it was such a relief to have Debby make order out of the chaos. I had a filing system that I wasn't keeping up with and many stacks of papers. Debby went through everything thoroughly and efficiently, making stacks of things to act on, things to file, things to shred, and things for me to review and decide if I wanted to keep or recycle them. As we worked she answered all my questions about how long to keep different types of documents and gave gentle encouragement to let things go if I didn't need them. Now that I'm a homeowner, was there a reason I would want to keep all the leases for houses I'd rented over the past 10 years? No. Into the recycling bin they went, along with a whole lot more. When we'd culled the piles she filed the remaining papers neatly and set up new files for the paperwork related to my new home. Throughout our session Debby was a joy to work with - friendly, encouraging, and you can tell she really loves what she does. I feel like I have a fresh start now, and I highly recommend her services to anyone feeling overwhelmed by paper clutter.

Deb is warm engaging and professional. I liked that she wanted to understand the full scope and define what specific value she could deliver. (We had a family members extensive figurine collection to sort). She dove in straight away and produced a result in the initial 3 hours. She then took it upon herself to create a spreadsheet and send it after the deal engagement even though she exceeded her 3 hour deal. She is extremely productive and takes ownership. In my experience many would have used the 3 hour deal to scope out future work with minimal a deliverable and a quote for follow on. Deb seamlessly blends her nurturing nature with a get it done approach. I was impressed how she took things on and independently figured them out. She did not take a lot of my time to do so. I have worked with her past the initial "deal" hours. But she didn't push to do so. She is a joy to collaborate with and a professional whom I can recommend without hesitation. Her follow up and attention to detail is excellent (which has not always been my experience with Angie's list vendors).

The job seemed overwhelming to me and so it was wonderful to have someone work along side of me, helping to distinguish what needed to thrown out and what was to be saved. Debby worked very quickly cleaning and organizing areas that had less interest for me, and was especially helpful in protecting me from throwing things out that I really didn't want to part with quite yet. We had estimated the job would take 3 hours, but we finished in two ! In the last hour, she offered to take all of the items that I wanted to give away to Goodwill, and then send me the receipt. Other than taking items to the dump, this job is basically finished. Step two is going through some of the items that I have packed away in containers. I would hire Debby back in a minute. She has lots of resources and suggestions for how to organize your life's precious and not-so-precious "stuff".
