I sought and received an estimate from them for new railings on our front steps. Elaine responded within hours on a weekend using Angie's list, and Eduardo was in touch on Monday, and on-site by midweek to show samples and provide an estimate. Although we ended up going with another provider whose design we liked a bit more, we had a very positive experience from interacting with Amaral Industries. They were friendly, prompt, and price competitive. Recommend you include them in comparative bids.

Eduardo was immediately responsive to my first contact and come out quickly to give me an estimate for the job. These were relatively small jobs and he treated me as respectfully and responsively as if it were a large commission. He called several times to let me know where he was in the process of manufacturing the grate and when he would fit me into his schedule. He was punctual and very pleasant to work with. I'd use him again in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: Eduardo created a cast to manufacture a steel grate for our driveway. The previous one had been broken by a plow. The new one is strong and looks beautiful, even though it is purely a functional piece. He also replaced rusted out hinges on a cast iron gate, welded the gate where necessary and restored its functionality.

It went great. Mr. Amaral met with me, showed me designs and went over options. He drew the design for me and provided me with the quote. He told me it would be appox. 1 month to make and install the access rail. He surprised me by installing it three weeks early. I love my new access handrail.

Eduardo is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He evaluated the stoop and the old railing, gave us lots of options, and explained the manufacture and installation process clearly. He got the job done on-time, quickly, and he also took our old railing away for us. The new rail looks looks great. I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs iron work.

I had a very positive experience with Eduardo, owner of Amaral Industries, and would not hesitate to use him again and to recommend him to others. He is skilled and knowledgeable, punctual, and provided excellent customer service. He also worked with me to find a railing design that I liked (that wasn't a standard design) and recommended a few changes once I found a design that so that I would get the best price. The railings are solidly installed and look great.

We needed a railing installed in the cement steps leading up to our backdoor. Eduardo came to the house, took his measurements and provided an estimate on the same day that I called his company. Eduardo explained that the railing would be made at their foundry and that there were minimum outside temperature requirements for the work to be performed under. I received a phone call to inform me when the piece of wrought iron had been finished and we agreed on a scheduled day for the work to be performed. Eduardo and his helper were on time and efficient (very polite and professional). The job was completed within 2 hours, it is an excellent job of fabrication and installation and the cost did not vary from the estimate.

I used Angie's list to find Eduardo, I contacted him and he got back to be very quickly. We scheduled a time for him to come to the house to take some measurements and show me more of his work (not everything is online). He arrived on time for the appointment and took the time to talk about the different styles that I liked. He was very knowledgable about the product and was the only vendor that I had contacted that had gotten back to me that was available to do the work so I signed a contract at the first meeting. Eduardo took a deposit and gave me a time line of when he thought the railing would be available. He also mentioned the different things that he would need for installation. He called the day of installation, before starting and upon completion. He left no mess, the only way I knew he had been here was because of the new rails! They are very well made and very secure in the stone steps. His estimate on pricing was right on as was his delivery date.
Description of Work: I had rails installed for my new stone steps at the front entrance (about 18 linear feet). Eduardo was very personable and took the time to find out which style of railing I liked best. He was very knowledgeable about his product, a time line for availability and the pricing.

Very well. See above.
Description of Work: I needed a railing on my stair case and path. They are steep, narrow and can be treacherous in snow and ice. Eduardo is a pleasure to work with. He measured the area carefully, took photographs and asked me to call him if I had any concerns before he did the work. I called for one adjustment which was added to the contract. Eduardo's price was reasonable, he came when he said he would, brought the railings that he had ordered. He installed them and before the end of the day I had safe, attractive stairs and path. My neighbors have noticed the attractive railings and paid compliments for the work that Eduardo did.

An exceptional experience overall! Eduardo is extremely knowledgeable, professional, reliable, honest and helpful. I received a quick response after placing my initial call, discussed the work with Eduardo and received a ballpark price quote. He arrived on time for a consultation, to discuss some of the finer details and provide an official price quote, which I found to be very competitive. The installation wound up being done a few weeks earlier than scheduled, which was a great surprise. We were actually away on vacation when it came time to do the work. It was great to come back from vacation and see the new beautiful railings installed! I highly recommend Amaral Industries and should I need work done in the future there's no doubt I will call on them again!

This was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The initial phone call was courteous and helpful in getting a ballpark idea of price. The Web site is also helpful when looking for ideas. The owner -- Eduardo -- called back promptly to set up a time for the estimate. He arrived on time and discussed several design alternatives that really helped us determine the best route to go with our project. We gave him the job because of his service orientation and competitive price. It took a few days for him to fabricate the railing, and then he called to schedule installation. The install went great. We are so pleased with the result, and really the whole interaction. We highly recommend Amaral to anyone looking for wrought iron work. Not only are they excellent craftsmen but they also are terrific with their customers. Thanks Eduardo!

Amaral Industries was a joy to work with! They acually won the job by default, as the first company took weeks to get me a quote, and I finally gave up trying to get one from them, and the second company never got back to me. Eduardo got back to me in a timely manner, showed up on time soon after initial contact to help me pick a design. He has a book of pictures he shows to give clients some ideas re designs, and it is clear he really knows how to match the railing design with the house and the stairs. I opted for the galvinzed steel, which will probably last longer than me and so worth it! He called me every step of the way from the creation of the railings, to the completion of the galvy, to the installation date which was as promised, and he showed up when he said he would, and took his time installing the railings; did not have to rush off to another job like other contractors. Overall, I'm very happy. My only concern was the welding blobs seemed bigger than I expected, and there are a few places where you can see where the paint ran down due to gravity I guess. However, I am obviously very picky, and at the end of the day railings need only to be something sturdy to hold on to when going up or down stairs, and mine are very sturdy and don't wiggle and really look fantastic!!! I enjoyed working with Eduardo/Amaral Industries and recommend them based on my experience.

We plan to work with a more professional vendor rather than a temperamental artist for our railings. The fact that they had to take clients [plural in Amaral's own words] suggests that these clients may have had reasons to withhold final payment. Not a chance I wish to take with out guarantees of on-time installation and return of deposit if the work is not completed as specified.
Description of Work: We requested a proposal and pricing to create extensions to the railings at the front of our house as well as to the stairs leading to our basement. Amaral responded with a quote 20% higher than other vendors AND demanded 50% upfront. We requested that Amaral commit to a delivery/installation date of six weeks from signing and receipt of deposit. They refused. We also requested the deposit modified to 25% upfront as without a commitment to a delivery date we did not want to be waiting until Spring for installation. They refused. We suggested that if for some reason, Amaral could not install the railings, our deposit [about $1200 at 50%] would be returned to us. They refused Below is the response from Amaral: Hi Leslie-We received your revised contract but have decided to not sign any further stipulations to our work. I understand your caution due to past experiences, but we believe strongly that at a certain point, the agreement becomes one of trust rather than of legalities. Eduardo is a fine craftsman and takes great pride in both his work and the service he provides. If there were some unforeseen circumstance, such as weeks of rain, or illness, we would hope that you would be able to wait a few days beyond the agreed-upon date out of understanding and courtesy and not expect the deposit returned. (That being said, I can honestly say that I could count on one hand the number of times he has installed a job late in 15 years) For example, on our end of the bargain, we understand that clients do not always pay us "upon installation" as the contract stipulates, but we would never include language to say that we would come remove your railings if payment is not received immediately. This is one of the many scenarios we do not include in the language of the contract, although we have had to take clients to small claims court to be paid in the past. At some point, the stipulations stop and trust begins. We feel that we have added all the adjustments we are willing to make to the contract. If you are willing to accept it as is, we will be more than happy to do the work for you- correctly, and on time. Otherwise, perhaps you can find another company to work with.

Eduardo, the Owner and Head Blacksmith, visited the member's home on a Friday. The member was not present. Eduardo spoke with her husband Gregory. He measured the job, discussed what they would like, and then on Monday, wrote up a proposal with clear terms, complete with drawing. It was emailed to them Tuesday morning. I had a phone conversation shortly afterward with the member. She asked about some details which were unclear to her, and explained that they were being a little over-cautious due to a bad experience with another fabricator. I answered all her questions, including her question about our 50% deposit, and she seemed satisfied. At that point, the member asked me to clarify in writing that the existing old wood posts would be removed and that we would be installing 4-6 weeks after receipt of contract & deposit, as discussed during Eduardo’s visit. We did not refuse. This is in fact written into the revised contract we sent the following day. Over a week later, we received the contract back, signed by the member's husband, but with several addition stipulations the members had written in themselves. As explained in my email, we elected to not sign it for the reasons stated. All correspondences were handled in a timely matter, and our prices are competitive (if they weren’t, why did they sign the contract?) We just could not agree on the terms. When you work outside, the weather is a factor. We do everything in our power to install within the timeframe we promised, as written on the contract. We would never make a client wait from Fall until the Spring, and never have in 15 years of business. If we think we cannot do the work on time, we do not do the job (see other Angie’s List report about our honesty with time frames) and refer customers to another fabricator we recommend. Demanding a deposit back on a custom product because unforeseen circumstances may put us a few days behind is a bit unreasonable in our view. We have had to begin proceedings with clients for small claims court in the past because we too have dealt with crooked building contractors. We installed work at homes they built, and then they tried to withhold pay as long as possible in order to try to sell the house first, or to claim bankruptcy. How does our needing to go after bad clients for payment reflect on us poorly? It does not. In my email, I used this fact as an example of extreme situations, which do not need to be addressed in the context of a legal contract- this falls into the arena of trust. We do not apply the “One Bad Apple” rule to all our clients, and expect the same. Both clients and contractors need to understand business is a two-way street, and good business practices are ones in which both customer and provider are well-served. Our policy is to be clear, honest, and accurate in our time frames, our payment terms, and work to be performed. We have been in business for 15 years and our proud of the level of artistry, craftsmanship & professionalism we bring to the field. In the time we’ve been on Angie’s List, we have gotten 12 reports with straight A’s- then this one. Our work and record speaks for itself. You just can’t please all the people all the time!

In both instances, we contacted them requesting a design based on some very rough sketches and ideas. For the trellis, our needs were somewhat unconventional, but Eduardo and Alaine really caught on to what we needed and helped us find the best solutions. Their ideas were innovative and inspired. When they came to measure and install they were prompt, friendly and efficient. Their pricing was very fair and the work was executed beautifully. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Amaral Industries created decorative custom iron trellises for us as well as new railings for our exterior steps. We worked together to decide on the overall design of the pieces. They understood right away what we were looking for and made beautiful pieces that have enhanced the curb appeal of our home enormously. Three years later they are still impeccable. Eduardo and Alaine were real joys to work with.

During construction of our new house, we contracted Amaral Industries to fabricate and install several hundred linear feet of exterior wrought iron fencing with gates, stair railings, and balcony railings. The fencing was installed on top of curved stone retaining walls and between stone pillars that enclose sections of lawn. the stair railings follow curved and switch-back stone stairs The semi-circular balcony, is nearly 30 feet off the ground. This project had a high level of technical difficulty, but Amaral industries executed to perfection to deliver beautiful work--on time, on budget. We liked their work so much that we subsequently commissioned them to build a custom wrought iron/barn board vanity for one of our powder rooms, fire screens for our granite Inglenook fireplace, and a decorative wrought iron foot rest for our wet bar. They are a pleasure to deal with--very creative, courteous, and an incredible value for their beautiful, high quality work. In fact, I plan to call them this week for another project involving some decorative trellises for the gardens.
