A-Tec Chimney Sweep

I called and inquired about the price and they said the first flue was 200 and the second would be 150 or so. I made an apointment and they arrived very promptly. First guy came to the door, greeted me without a smile and introduced himself. I invited him in. Second guy comes in, hood over his head, no introductions. He pulled the cleaning polls in and accidentally brushed up against the door but apologized as he moved forward. Didn't look like a mark was left so it's fine. I pointed out the fireplaces and I didn't need to say too much beyond that. Both guys weren't much for conversation and just headed in to work. I did offer to show him the cleanout underneath but he evidently didn't need to see that as it didn't seem to be something they did. Fine. Maybe they don't go that far. I try not to hover over anyone brought into the house for work so I busied myself elsewhere while the two guys tackled the 2 flues from the hearths. 45 minutes passed and they were out. The last conversation was the first guy telling me that the chimneys didn't need that much cleaning and they seemed barely used and well cared for. Nevertheless I was glad they had gotten cleaned. I didn't check their work before they left but I wish I had. The fireplace on the second floor had the same debris behind the damper as it had before they came. In fact I actually told him that I'd seen debris and leaves behind the damper before they came and I saw the same leaves there after they left. There was also some webs left behind on the wood holder. Shouldn't they be gone? The second floor fireplace didn't seem very thorough. I didn't investigate the flue further. I tried to see if they were still outside and but they had left. Despite the expediency and the apparent light work, the price didn't reflect any sort of break. I don't know.. Maybe it should?! 348.00 dollars seems like a lot of money for such a short amount of time and for what he admitted wasn't a heavy cleaning. They could have also inspected the chimney outside or something else for the money but they seemed to be rushing? This company missed an opportunity to have a great review. Just a few things could have turned it around.

I had scheduled the inspection only, but after that I decided to add the sweeping. The guys were on time, they were very professional and left everything clean. I will call them again for installing caps and sealing.

I could not be happier! I am a perfectionist by nature and was relieved that my expectations were surpassed by the work executed by Dave and his team! The level of skill and professionalism was truly something I was impressed with! I have been recommending A-Tec to friends, family and colleagues whether they have a chimney or not as I was just that impressed by the final product. I will absolutely be calling on A-Tec for my regular chimney sweeps and related maintenance. I had quotes by eight different companies... I felt the most comfortable with Dave's knowledge and professionalism which is what sold me on A-Tec. A-Tec also fell on the lower end of the spectrum for quotes which was a plus as well. The two A-Tec service providers were on time, professional, and fast. You can't beat this service provider!

This will be our 3rd review of A-Tec and, since not much has changed, we'll keep it brief. We plan on using A-Tec, yearly to every other year based on need, to maintain/repair our furnace chimney, fireplace chimney, fire brick, etc.. They are pros and, with safety at stake here, we're sticking with the company we trust. Every person they send is not only courteous but very knowledgeable and informative, letting us know exactly what needs to be done and even scheduling work further out if we don't need it. They're also fast and clean - they've never left a trace and chimney work on an older home could potentially be very messy. We highly recommend them.

They gave me a window between 7:30 and 9am. I received a call at about 7:45 to let me know they were ten minutes away. When they arrived, they looked over the job and gave me a good understanding of the current state of the chimney, listened to my intended usage, and gave recommendations on what repairs may be worthwhile and which could be deferred. They spread a blanket over the floor and the hearth and used a vacuum system to control the ash. They inspected the chimney inside and out and gave me an illustrated report on the condition. The whole job took less than an hour and they left me with an estimate for the optional maintenance work if I wanted to do it in the future.

I thought they did a good job but when my house went under agreement, the home inspector said it wasn't. they were very professional and came back and redid it.

From start to finish, A-Tec were very professional and courteous. They were very good about explaining not just what they were going to do, but why they were going to do it. As I recall, they were a crew of 2 (plus a very friendly and well-behaved dog). The work was done very quickly, within a single afternoon. I would definitely hire this company again.

I called them last week and they were able to come out today. I was home from work and today fit into my schedule perfectly. They were scheduled to come between 2 and 5 and called at 1:45 to tell me they would be at my house in 15 to 20 minutes. They showed up at 2:10 and immediately started working. They covered my rug immediately and commented on how dirty the chimney was. They worked efficiently and thoroughly and cleaned the chimney without making a mess in the house (although I don't know how they did it!!!). There were two men and the one who was on the roof doing most of the work came in and checked the work of the gentleman in the house to be sure he had thoroughly cleaned the inside of the stove and the pipe inside (there is a curve inside that is difficult to clean ~ he worked diligently to clean that out). I will definitely use them again and have already set a reminder to make an appointment for the spring!!!

They were prompt & the they did a good job on the repair . But I found out after the fact that the downstairs ( basement ) was covered in soot , I've been cleaning it ever since .

Very friendly and professional. Installed large chimney cap over existing cap for some reason. New cap appears to be high quality.

Arrived right on schedule and got the job done quickly and with absolutely no mess. A fair price, and they will be coming back to install the cap once they've ordered it.

I found this company through Angie's list and they had a lot of good reviews from customers. While I can agree that they were responsive, fairly priced, and punctual, I felt that they did not have the courtesy to try to keep my carpet clean. When they installed the liner in my house, they had to go through my basement which is finished with carpet. They made a MESS of my carpet walking from the bathroom to the boiler. There was a lot of soot/dirt stains I have to figure out how to clean. I'm not even sure if it will come out! Not once did the workers ask for a towel or something to put over our carpet so that it would not get dirty. I felt that was disrespectful. My suggestion is that A-tech invest in some of those plastic disposable shoe covers to keep their clients homes clean. Had I been told that they did not have anything to put over my carpet, I would have gladly provided a tarp or some towels so I wouldn't have to deal with a filthy carpet now. I have not contacted A Tech about this, because they did not give me fair warning or the courtesy of informing me they would stain my carpet, so I will not give them the courtesy of knowing about my less than stellar review of them and let them read this review on this site. Also, I needed my chimney rebuilt and wanted to have this work done some time next year and was going to have them come back to do the job, but I'm going to have to find another company to do this. Their actions showed me that they don't care about my house or retaining clients.

Seeing that A-Tec has Kent County listed as one of the areas they provide service in, I contacted them through Angie's List on July 28th, 2015, but did not get a response. I then bought the chimney repair coupon where it states "$20 off cleanings. $50 off repairs over $500. $100 off repairs over $1000" on August 14th, 2015, but did not get a response. Finally, I called August 19th, 2015, and still did not get a response. Not exactly helpful.

I got quoted 2450 a few weeks before they did the work. While taking the old chimney down, they found that it needed to be rebuilt further down to the attic floor rather than just to the roofline. they took it upon themselves to do the extra work free of charge. i didnt even know about it till i came back to pay them. After the chimney was finished they spent another 45 minutes cleaning out my clean out, which also turned out to be more work than anticipated. very clean efficient and professional crew. A+

I used these folks based on their Angie's list reviews and their coupon! They were super. Prompt, courteous, and CLEAN! When cleaning a chimney flue/wood burning stove it gets messy. But the man they sent was super clean & professional. I am writing this review because I'm about to call them this early Fall to clean my chimney again! They are great and reasonable price for great service!

Very professional, from scheduling the estimate to performing the work. They showed up on time, completed the work in under 2 hours. The chimney looks great, they cleaned up everything. Would definitely recommend/use again.

Wonderful service. Arrived on time and went right to work. They had to build staging near our small vegetable garden and they were very careful,even covering it with plywood. We also thought that we might need more work,but they assured us what we had done was enough. I highly recommend this company.

These guys were excellent. I was in a pinch - my flue was falling apart inside, causing my boiler to turn off...which meant no hot water. I called A-Tec - they were at my house in a few hours. They cleared the obstacles in my chimney and got my boiler going again. I had an appointment for a few days later to have the chimney lined. When the boiler turned off again, I called them back and they expedited my appointment for the following day. They showed up on time, were courteous, left zero mess, and everything is back up and running. I don't have enough nice things to say about this company. Many thanks to the A-Tec team for bailing me out of a lousy situation!

Staff were all very courteous and professional. Workmanship is excellent. They did a great job of finding bricks to match a 38-year-old chimney. Job was completed in about six hours and they left everything neat and clean. I would not hesitate to use this company again in the future. Highly recommended.

A+!!! These guys are awesome! They did a beautiful job on our chimney rebuild, brought it up to code and left everything very tidy. They were prompt with coming out to give the estimate and were able to schedule the work to be done soon afterwards. We weren't home when the work was performed but the guy that gave us the estimate was really friendly and professional.

They service was absolutely excellent. They were neat and clean, they did everything they were supposed to. They came out within a day or two and were awesome. They were helpful, patient, very thorough, and they came when they said were going to. They put cloths down because I had just had the floors refinished, and were very respectful of the property. The damper works great, and there are no complaints.
