McCarthy Plastering

We had a lot of damage from ice dams in one room and some damage in another room. We tried to clear out as much of our things from the rooms Chris needed to work in, but for the furniture we were unable to move out, Chris did a great job covering them all in plastic before he started work. He managed to complete both ceilings in a single day, despite it being an extremely hot day. Chris came back the day after to finish sanding both ceilings and cleaned up fantastically after himself, and both rooms look marvelous now.

Colin came in and did a great job, there were some curves on the stairs that came out fabulous! This is a very old house so we were able to keep all the old molding and the walls look brand new. The job was done in four days, and the clean up was great. Would defiantly hire this company again. We had three estimates and this one was the only one that gave us everything we needed.

The owner, Collin, contacted me within hours of me messaging him through Angie's List. Within 2 days he was at my house to provide a reasonable estimate. He completed the work within the next week. Collin was on time, he covered my belongings so plaster/dust didn't get on everything, and cleaned up before he left. I was very pleased with his quality of work. I would use him again and would recommend him to others.

Colin was amazing! Firstly, he was incredibly flexible and responsive about finding time to come give an estimate. We weren't yet closed on our condo, so we had to work around seller and agent to find time (which was difficult). He was incredibly accommodating, which I really appreciated. When he finally did get in for an estimate, it was incredibly fair for the amount of work that needed to be done. We were on a very tight schedule between closing and moving, and Colin and his team started on-time, were incredibly punctual, and even finished ahead of schedule. Again, he was responsive and helpful throughout the process when I had questions. I would highly recommend Colin for anybody who needs plaster work. Not only is he incredibly professional, but his work was stunning.

Colling was awesome, prompt responses, gave a quote based on the pictures I had sent him. Stopped by over the weekend to look at the work area and came back on Monday and completed the job. Excellent finish and cleaned up the place after work. I had another friend of mine who wanted similar service and I recommended Collin and he is fixing up the drywall for my friend.

It went very well. Colin is very punctual and gave us the best estimate of anyone. He worked around my schedule to make it work and showed up at 7am two days in a row so I could get to work on time! His work was excellent and he cleaned up after he left. I highly recommend him!

Colin was excellent. He made at least two trips beforehand to survey the space, and was extremely flexible with respect to our overall construction schedule, which had several unrelated delays. The quality of his and his crew's work is top-notch, and I would highly recommend and use him again for the future.

I would give them a good grade. I got a couple of different quotes. They were competitive but it wasn’t the lowest price. 1.36 to 1.38. So far the quality is good. I think I have to call them again because there’s a tiny hairline crack. So I may have to have them come back and 2.27 to 2.29. I would use them again.

Colin was great from start to finish. He responded right away and came out to see the work. He gave me a quote and we set up a time for the following week. When he got here (on time), he set up floor protection on all the areas, including two that I added that day. He did a fantastic job, matching both kinds of textures and feathering into existing ceiling. I thought his price was very reasonable (and he didn't charge extra for the two new areas!) and it was obvious to me he takes pride in the quality of his work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing his services or to use him again.

This is the second time I have worked with Colin McCarthy; the first was earlier this spring when he did all the sheet rock and plaster work to finish the walls and ceiling of a space in the garage being turned into a studio. In addition at that time he also finished the ceiling in the garage underneath, which also required the firewall sheetrock specified by the building inspector. On both occasions Colin replied to my initial inquiry immediately, and scheduled the first review very quickly. He always showed up on time, explained things thoroughly, and answered my questions fully. He is thoughtful, relaxed, smart and thorough about everything he says and does. He works startlingly quickly, having explained that plaster dries fast and once it's mixed the clock is ticking. The surface of the upstairs walls, which will not be painted, and the ceiling, and the garage work as well, are as smooth as satin. There was no dust left in the studio or the garage, and when I ran my hands over the walls they came away completely dust free. In addition, as an artist I was interested in seeing the possibilities of tinting a small section with earth pigments, which required mixing a partial batch of plaster with the pigment. Colin was interested to see what it would look like, and since he was freed from any responsibility if the outcome was awful (I would just pay him to replaster that section) he was game, and we were both pleased with the outcome. I have worked through several renovations, all in the Boston and suburban areas, and have known some fine craftspeople. Plastering done well is an art, and Colin is easily one of the finest and most skilled people I've encountered. I am hoping in the future to work again with him, doing one or more rooms with pigmented plaster, as well as more mundane repairs on our colonial era home, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Plastering is a true art and Colin is excellent at what he does. The room looks beautiful.

When a plumber removed a pipe that ran within the walls, he cut a hole in the kitchen wall and damaged the adjoining dining room wall with a reciprocating saw. Colin McCarthy showed up when he said he would and fixed the walls perfectly, even matching the textured Craftex surface of the dining room so that you can't tell it had been damaged. He charged what I thought was a reasonable amount and cleaned up completely, including mopping the kitchen. I'd hire him again, and in fact I have.

I provided Collin with a very aggressive timeline. He was able to make it happen. Quality was top notch.

Colin was joy to work with. Showed up on time and was friendly and very professional. I have to admit it was one of the better experiences I have had with a contractor. Colin's Prices are very fair and the work was well done, he returns phone calls quickly was was very responsive to working within my scheduled. I would highly recommend McCarthy plastering to everyone who needs this work done and will use him for any other jobs that need to be done.

This is the second time I have used McCarthy Plastering, and I will absolutely call him again for any plastering needs. He is responsive, friendly, and priced well. I had a spot in my dining room that needed to be patched from a leak. I contacted Colin, sent him pictures, and he gave me a reasonable quote. Once the leak was fixed, Colin contacted me and found a time the following week to fix the ceiling. He showed up when he said he would, did the job in a good amount of time, and cleaned up very well. He even was so kind as to patch a spot on my wall and a crack in the ceiling since he already had the plaster mixed. Everything came out great, and I am very pleased with his work. I am happy I used him again, and there is no doubt I will use him in the future.

Quick response time and very reasonable pricing - same as before. Good to see that Colin maintains the high level of service that he gave us in the first round. We had two additional areas open up for plastering (during some electrical work) while he was there and he was very flexible to get that taken care of even though we were starting to bump into his next appointment. Job well done - highly recommend his services. Best parts is that his helpers are also polite - not always the case sometimes.

We could not have asked for better service than we got from Collin. He was super nice, extremely helpful, his work was flawless and the price was more than fair. He went above and beyond in his work, and we've had several contractors and visitors comment on his work in just the few days since he finished. Everyone was impressed! Collin will be our first call the next time we need plastering, and we would readily recommend him to anyone who is looking for plaster work in their home.

- Colin responded quickly to my request to meet to get an estimate. - Colin left one message on my cell phone that said, "If you have a chance, let me know if we are still on to meet". - I called him two times on my way to meet him. The first at 3 minutes after we were to meet. He did not pick up the phone. The second was at 8 minutes after we were to meet. He picked up then and said I was too late for our appointment, that he had already left,. He then said he had been back on the road for 15 minutes. - I would highly suggest that If you'd like to get an estimate from him, don't be late, or tough luck for you.

Colin responded to my phone call promptly. He was very courteous and professional. Colin told that he will be at my home at 7am on a Saturday. He was in time, even though it was a weekend and early. It did not take him much time to get started. He broke the old defective ceiling in the bathroom, installed the blue board and put plaster on it. The design on the ceiling was exactly what I desired. His work was 'A' Class. Additionally he also plastered some minor work in a closet and basement. It took him about 3 hours to complete everything. Colin cleaned the floors and left the home in a perfect condition. His attitude and workmanship is SUPERB. You will be Very Pleased by his work. I recommend him HIGHLY. Wonderful experience! The quote arrived when he said it would, he arrived days earlier than expected, went to extra lengths to keep the house neat and cleaned and cleaned up after his team. They were pleasant and wonderful - the experience makes us want to plaster more walls. We can't enough wonderful things about this experience!

Best impression was created during the quote process. came out on a saturday and promised to send quote by the next day. Guess what? the quote was in my email ready to be considered! Had multiple reschedules due to other projects that were ongoing at our place but Colin was very responsive via email. Clarified the work and changed the scope at my request. Arrived on time on the start day and did a meticulous job setting up floor covers and working to ensure minimal dust or debris. Work was done to my satisfaction - used a helper who was also polite. Job well done - highly recommended!!
