Ok...little long, but needs to be said. We initially hired Roy of Roy's Masonry to install a bulkhead and stairway connected to it. No problem. Post install, it rained a few days later and saw that it was not sealed since it leaked water after, so we asked him to come back and seal...he did not seem happy about having to do that 😞, but he came and did. At that time, he noted he had some bricks he was looking to get rid of that we could use for a future hardscape project out back, so we agreed he would at a later date. He showed up this morning to do said hardscape work. As he begun, we realized there was some miscommunication on what we thought was discussed prior vs. what he was actually doing. After we asked for clarification, we understood where the miscommunication was, but he was not happy that there even was one to became with and became very loud in his explanation because we were asking for clarity. He would not let us get a word in for the most part even though we were calm. Despite that, we let him continue on cause we overall understood where the communication became broken and was ok with what he proposed. When he was almost done with the 2nd half of the project, my husband met him outside, paid him, and then checked in to make sure everyone was on the same page to finish up. He almost immediately freaked out on my husband and starts yelling 'I am done, I don't like the way you talk to me, you talk to me like I'm a dog, I'm f%@#ng done, that's all I'm gonna do!' on top of his lungs that our neighbors could hear, with our kid inside homeschooling and walked off. Hub was stunned and was left there asking him as he walked away 'what do you mean, how did I talk to you? I was simply explaining how we wanted to wrap the project' 😟 He never answered my husband and proceeded to pack up and walk away. The pic (square block areas) are what we were left with...ungrouted and unfinished. The red patio curved area is what my husband did a couple years ago (learned from YouTube), but can't do that type of work right now as he's still healing from a work injury. While his install work was good (up until that point), his attitude was **** poor and we cannot excuse that on top of cursing us out and becoming irate when we because we asked questions. Just simply not ok and inexcusable behavior. People will often forget what you said, but will always remember how you made them feel.

The work itself was done as arranged but apparently Roy was having a bad day. It did rain so maybe he was behind on his work but that was no excuse for his attitude. He yelled at my wife who was home alone with my 2 toddlers because things weren't going his way. He was supposed to come on day 2 to complete the work but didn't call or show up but then he showed up the 3rd day to finish. The problems resumed.... He was cleaning the front door with a pressure washer and water seeped underneath the door. When my wife came out to let him know, he yelled "then shut the door!!" and ranted about how "I have a job to do and to put a towel down.." I left work early to have a conversation with Roy before things got worse. He was rude, unprofessional, even got agitated with me for pointing this out. Was I supposed to let the man just yell at my wife!!?? He was also smoking in the property and I had to ask him politely to not smoke in our property please. He did a good job with the stairs but he has big problems with his attitude and needs some anger management. He walked away from me after the exchange of words. He apologized to me but not to my wife.

David Roy is probably the best tradesman I have encountered. He is on ttime he cleans up,returns your calls and one of the most polite people I've ever had doing work for me. He dug up around the perimeter of my basement and installed a drainage system andnew sump pump and had it done in a day and a half. Digging up a cellar floor is messy but he cleaned up after himself. He actually offered us an extra year warranty on the pump. When he was done he explained how it works. The week after we had it installed we had very heavy rains and lots of it. My basement is bone dry! First time in 30 years that has happened. Last year he replaced a brick patio and again the workmanship and reasonable price was astounding. I would recommend him, and I have, to anyone looking for superior workmanship, polite, pleasant worker and the end product exactly as promised, Dave Roy is your man.

it didn't-we arranged to have the work done after receiving an insurance check -a few weeks later I called and explained the insurance company was dragging their feet, but said I still wanted him to do the work-over a month went by and we received the insurance check and I called him immediately-when I told him we were all set, he said he was no longer interested in us and unprofessionally hung up on me. my wife called him back to talk -as soon as she said her name he hung up on her. -very, very unprofessional and rude-would not recommend this gentleman to do any work, for anyone!!!!

Dave Roy provided an excellent service, from quoting to delivering the job. His communication along the process was very good, scheduling time slots while navigating with some bad weather, this was essential to finish the work on time. I will hire him for my next project without hesitation.
