Umberto and his team removed an old built-in cabinet and painted our dining room walls and ceiling. They also converted the woodwork from wood stain to painted. The work is beautifully done and we're enjoying the fresh, more open space. They were neat and efficient and took away all debris. Bryan helped us get large color samples as we chose our color, going from white to a muted but sunny yellow. I didn't think we needed to do the ceiling, but he advised us to take the opportunity -- that is was grayer than we realized, and it was a good idea. Just before the job date, we had a leak in a bathroom, which damaged the ceiling below. Umberto's team efficiently added ceiling patching and painting to the job. Because the lighting was dark that day, they missed a couple of spots in our not-brightly-lit bathroom. It was very easy to schedule them to come back for a quick fixup. Tom Curren Companies is not usually the cheapest choice around, but this is the second time I've hired them for indoor work. Their professional, trouble-free results are worth it. I didn't get additional quotes, so I don't know how their price might compare to others. I'm judging that they are more expensive than some based on quotes several years ago for outside painting. This is the second time I've hired them for inside work.

Interior painting: Tom Curren Companies has painted many rooms in our house at various times over the past few years. Tom has always been helpful in planning the job and recommending color choices. The painters have all been neat and professional, and never leave a mess. We have been very happy with their service. Kitchen remodeling: Tom Curren Companies remodeled our kitchen in approximately 2008. They replaced the cabinets and appliances, installed granite counters, and installed a ceramic tile backsplash. Tom worked with me to choose the granite, the tile and the cabinets. The job was done very professionally, on time and on budget. It turned out just the way we wanted. Bathroom remodeling: Tom Curren Companies has remodeled two bathrooms in our house -- the master bath and a second bath. In the master bath, they installed a marble floor and counters, a new glass shower enclosure with rain shower fixture, and glass tile in the shower and as a backsplash. In the second bath, they removed the tub and installed a tile shower, a new tile floor and new vanity. All of the work was done very professionally, on time and on budget. We have been very happy with the results. Handyman: We have hired Tom Curren Companies on many occasions to do handyman work, including inspecting and replacing siding on the house exterior, inspecting and replacing decking on our deck and screened-in porch, and fixing things in the house. We have been very happy with their work.

Each project began with a visit from Bryan to review needed work. He arrived exactly as scheduled. This visit included a candid discussion of alternatives, including, for some projects, the need to do the work at all. The cost estimate followed promptly, including a clear description of work. Following the agreement to proceed, we had a visit by the person who will supervise the project. These men also arrived as scheduled, were very courteous, and did a great job of explaining the process and work schedule. The work was done as scheduled by a team of men appropriate to the work scope. They are always a pleasure to have in and around the home. If there were any changes in the scope of work, and the associated cost, they were discussed and agreed upon in advance. No surprises. The quality of work is high, and the commitment of the men reflects their pride in their work. If there were to be any schedule changes (weather related in particular), we were called and schedule changes were made in advance. Curren is our "go to" company. We call them first and have never been disappointed.

First, Bryan came to the house to see the scope of the job. He also recommended what colors we might use. He helped me figure out what needed painting NOW and what could wait to next time since this job was so large. He sent me an estimate and we took a thing or two out of the job since we wanted to stay within a specific budget. They are very accommodating and will change any work order, adding or taking things out to stay within your budget. The men who painted were great. They were quiet, paid attention to every detail, cleaned up at the end of every day and even took their shoes off when they entered the house each time when going out to their truck to get supplies. Their carpenter came and fixed some rotting woodwork around the windows, and their handyman fixed a few things as well. Each thing was pointed out to me, and I was given the option to use their "fixers" and prices up front as to what it would cost. The rooms look amazing. They have also painted the outside of my house, cleaned my gutters, done power-washing and repaired my deck. Pretty much anything that requires maintenance, they will do if you want them to. Otherwise, they will just paint. I have hired them again and again over the last 15 years and have never been disappointed. Sometimes they paint just one room, and sometimes much more. They have worked both inside and outside of my home and now my neighbors, one by one, are hiring Tom Curren's painters and workmen as well.

Tom Curren himself was always available and very cooperative with the issues that usually arise in projects of this scope and complexity. He offered valuable suggestions. His crew worked fast and efficiently, high level of quality, neat, polite, and generally nice to be around

The project came out beautifully. The main thing to say is that Tom showed the integrity and determination to make sure the project came out right. He would not rest until it was all as it should be. We are very happy with the result.

The man showed up on the agreed date, with the materials and went to work. The bead board was given coats of varnish on both sides, and when dry the next day, the ceiling went up, the fan was installed and it looks great. Couldn't be more pleased. Would definitely use them again.

This was just the latest in dozens of jobs Tom Curren Company has done for me, starting with painting the exterior of our house around eight years ago. I use them for EVERYTHING. They've painted interiors, stripped wallpaper, done major remodeling of my upstairs, and all sorts of smaller jobs. I love Tom Curren Company for so many reasons but most particularly because I can count on them 100 percent: They show up when they say they're going to, the job takes as long as they say it will, and it all costs pretty much what they estimated. They also do excellent work -- the one and only time I wasn't totally happy, they were back the next day to make it right (which they absolutely did). And every single worker who's ever been in my house has been polite, professional, and a delight to deal with. Really, I can't praise them highly enough. Highest rating!!

The carpentry work was done on time, but they had neglected to factor in who would move the heating vent. Apparently the person who sold the job mistakenly thought the carpenter could do this work. No one could give me a definitive answer as to when the heat vent would be moved despite my making several calls. I finally called the owner of the company, Tom Curren, who came to my house and looked at what needed to be done. He had someone come to my house within the hour, and the work was completed the next day. He also called me afterwards to see if I was satisfied, which I appreciated. In addition, the bedroom was not sealed off very well so there was dust everywhere, and my bathroom was not left in great shape after the workmen used it.

The job involved subcontractors for electrical and plumbing, and separate contractors for the granite counters and the floor. Nevertheless, the job was finished within 3 weeks of the estimated completion date. Curren's carpenter and painters were pleasant and professional, and we felt comfortable leaving them in the house while we weren't there. The area was carefully cleaned up at the end of each work day. We were pleased with their design solutions and their execution. The outdoor and indoor painting jobs in the past have gone equally well. Courteous workers, good cleanup, punctual performance, and price close to estimate.

We've used Tom Curran companies for 8 years, starting with a whole house exterior paint job in 2005 which was done so well we never even considered other companies...they are not the least expensive but the extra is well worth it. The first time they painted the house the paint job lasted almost twice as long as previous paint jobs, done by others. They have painted it again since, and we are more than satisfied. We also have had them do interior painting and minor repairs, always done on time, on budget and leaving the house as clean (or better) than when they started.

I decided to paint the outside of our 4,500 sq.ft. house this year as it was due. The Curren Companies had done the previous job. Tom came out and gave us a good quote so we did not get a second quote. his people, Gilmar the carpenter, Humberto and Gilman the on site leaders, and Melissa the scheduler where great. Sage Cont did a great job in helping us adapt but not dramatically change the color scheme. It all came out superbly.

I think we've found our "go-to" guy for home maintenance and repairs... From start to finish, Tom Curren and his team were a pleasure to work with. They were prompt, courteous, and efficient; they handled a small change in the scope of work with ease, and were meticulous throughout the project. Though ours was a relatively small project, Tom personally called to follow up and make sure we were satisfied once it was completed. We're very happy with the results - our home has never looked better!

These folks worked with me on a very tight timetable and bent over backwards to get the work done. Two hallways had wallpaper stripped, walls patched, primed, and painted. The crew showed up on time, ready to work. They protected everything (entries to surrounding rooms, floors, electric outlets, light switches, etc.) with great care. They cleaned ALL the mess as soon as the wallpaper stripping was done. Once the walls were dry, they patched all scratches and scuffs thoroughly (including little dings I would not have noticed). They warned me in advance that the primer they were using stank to high heaven (and it did, but they said it was the best for my walls), so I was able to go outdoors for the brief time it took to dry and the odor to dissipate. They then painted the walls beautifully and even took my trim paint to touch up tops of baseboards and other areas of trim that were not originally included in the work order. They did not charge for that additional work, but insisted that they would not be happy with the final look of the project unless it was done. When they had finished, they cleaned absolutely everything and -- aside from ugly, stained, old wallpaper being gone and a beautiful paint job left behind -- there was no trace of them ever being there at all.

When their salesman Barry came, he was very professional, but he did not include re-doing the stairs in the price. The company came out and told me the new price. The people that came did a very good job though. The two men that did the work were excellent.

The price for the amount of "touch-up" painting was very high >$4000. I accepted the price expecting that our walk through "punchlist would be fully addressed. Sub-contracted workmen showed up very punctually -- working quickly and accurately. The communication between the labor team and owner did not convey what I was expecting -- The owner did not adequately record or communicate the scope of work to his team. It took several revisits and calls to the office to get the work complete. In addition, I spent more than an hour reviewing a customer cabinet proposal with their carpenter describing the work needed. After accepting their quote ($4800) and scheduling a date, the new estimate to complete the work grew by $2800. I decided I had enough and found another carpenter who completed the full scope of cabinets for less than original estimate. Office staff and labor very responsive. I would not use this service again due to poor project scoping and communication by owner.

When I reviewed Curren before, I gave them a B for price since they were more expensive than our other quotes. But, since they were the only company we talked to that would replace wooden gutters and they offered a touch up on all their work for the first 3 years, we decided to go with them. I can say it was worth EVERY extra penny! First, the job they did we great. Our home looks amazing. But, we recently took them up on their 3 year guarantee on their work. There were a couple of spots that had a little peeling , so we called them. It did take a bit of time to get them out to the home (it was summer, their busy season). They carefully checked the entire home and took care of any spot that even looked a little suspicious. Their men were here for a couple of days and did a very complete job. This company is worth the extra money.

I have lived at the same location for 35 years. All of the handles and locks on our two kitchen doors and one screen door were worn out and not working properly. They had been in that condition for quite some time because I kept telling myself that I would do it, but never did. At about this time Tom Curren Companies announced the availability of their new "handy-man"; an individual experienced in all home repairs and also licensed as an electrician and plumber. Having lived in an older home for so long I have developed an excellent relationship with Tom Curren Companies whose specialties throughout the metro-Boston area include painting, carpentry and remodeling. For the past twenty- five years Curren has maintained my 103 year-old home by keeping my gutters clean; painting both exterior and interior portions of my home; restoring and in part rebuilding my back deck which involved mildew removal, R&R rotted wood in the railings, balusters and post caps, deck cleaning, sealing and repainting; cleaning the garage cinder block construction and repainting. I also had Curren out to the house to provide a quote for cleaning my home's exterior vinyl siding and removal of the roof moss. I was asked a number of question including one regarding any intention now or in the future to sell the house. I was given a reasonable quote for the cleaning job with the caveat that years after the cleaning, the dirt, stains, moss and mildew would return and probably have to be removed again if we decided to sell. Their caveat simply re-confirmed my opinion of Curren's reputability. So, it was without hesitation that I made an appointment with Curren's handyman. Joe was timely, pleasant and very professional. He finished the work in a short period of time and I've had no problems with the new door handles and locks since then. Even if I did, Curren is fully insured, guarantees all of his work and Joe would have been back to the house in a day or two. In fact, Joe is scheduled this month to R&R our old kitchen range hood, install a new dishwasher and replace the kitchen faucet.

Theirs was the highest by far (almost 3 times higher than the provider we're going with) and didn't include any of the necessary carpentry work we need. As the representative was going through the quote, I couldn't believe when we got to the end and it didn't include replacing/repairing any of the rotted wood we have (and we have quite a bit that is obviously in need of replacement). When I asked about it, the representative said they thought it all looked good, which made me wonder how he'd looked at my house in such detail and missed the very obvious -and still managed to be so much more expensive than anyone else! Very nice, prompt people to deal with, but their pricing is seriously out of line with the market. And I think maybe the person we were dealing with needed some more experience in identifying problem areas they were going to be working on.
