The project would've never gone forth w/out the difficult neighbor agreeing to remove his overflow pipes from our d-way. It took a letter from a lawyer & James technical advice to get this done. James did most of the "convincing" & included a plan to redirect the neighbors water underground into the catch basin. James didn't have to do this, getting involved in a situation like this & most contractors would say it is our problem, call us when you get a lawyer. The d-way has done well in wet weather. He s gone more than that extra mile.
Description of Work: We had a driveway put in 3 yrs ago, that was beginning to sink due to previous installation problems & a neighbor who drained all his overflow water from his septic system along our driveway. The d-way was like a sponge, w/severe cracking & icing. The neighbor refused to acknowledge his water caused part of the damage. A letter from a lawyer, he agreed to remove his water. James rebuilt the failing portion of the driveway which included a catch basin. The neighbor was allowed to pipe his water underground to our catch basin. James set it up w/the pipes for him to hook into, realigned the catch basement in the driveway & so far there is no standing pools of water.($3500.)

Our septic system of seven years failed. We hired an engineer to draw up plans for a new septic and eliminate the "water in the basement" issue at the same time. When we first received the plans we brought in several contractors, most of whom found many problems with the plans. The engineer would not provide any guidance or modify the new plans, when I notified him of the problem. Several contractors refused to even bid on the project or bid so high it was ridiculous. It appeared to us, no one would take the job, we knew it was a very difficult and timely project, with many problems. We met with James Schmidt of Ashland. The job took over a month. James came up with solutions to the toughest problems. Each obstacle was a challenge for James, the site plan had to be redone. James worked extremely hard, everything was done right and on a timely manner. I have absolutely no complaints at all and recommend him highly. James handled everything and was a pleasure to have around.
Description of Work: I needed a contractor to remove our existing septic tank, excavate leach field, install septic tank and pipes, build retaining wall and landscape new top soil. Install drains from wet basement to catch basin on street, underground.
