Farina always sends a good size crew and they are efficient and skilled. They arrived at 7 and were done by 5:30 or 6. It was painless and they did a decent job tarping below to collect debri. We had the company do our main roof and found their work to be high quality and reasonably priced. They use high quality roofing material and arrive when they say they'll be starting the job.
Description of Work: Price was for stripping and re-shingling of addition that had 4 skylights. Work included ice and water-shield entire roof, reflashing, and hauling away of materials.

While traveling abroad our tenants told us of a leaking roof (rubber on a flat roof). Our house contractor suggested Farina Roofing. I made contact with an international telephone call and I was told by Ms Vita Trainor they would look into it. No results for a week so I called and asked again and was told they would get to it. I told them we were flexible on time and they could fit us in as long as it was before October. Then no word. I sent 3 emails and no response. I called my original contractor and asked him to try, which he did and he wrote an email back within one day to say Farina Roofing would be contacting me. I waited one week and no reply. I called and left a message with an assistant to Ms Trainor and still no email. I called again to get an answering machine. Now it was late September and still no response. I continued with one more email and one more phone call into early November and I finally gave up. The lack of response, even to say they didn't want the job, showed an very poor professionalism. I don't know what to conclude but wanted to let people on Angie's list know that if they get no response and their situation is urgent then probably they should try elsewhere. I am now left with a scramble to find a roofer and also the weather conditions make it difficult to replace a rubber roof in the cold.
Description of Work: No service as I could not get a response despite numerous telephone calls (international) and 5 emails over a period of 4 months.

Excellent experience beginning with several consultations when different companies suggested different ways of handling part of the roof replacement.
Description of Work: Replaced complete roof in 2009 during some of the hottest days and did an excellent job. And in August, 2010 did work to repair a leak around a window. The second project required two different days of work until the problem was solved. Very capable and competent crews. During the winter came several times to try to solve the leak problem. We highly recommend them.

Overall, they were very good. They did everything they said they would do. They had to bring a small crew back for a second day to finish up at no additional cost. The roof looks great. We have had some leaking problems around the fireplace now though. We had them come back out to look and they said our whole chimney needed repointing - not their problem from the original install. We had some masons come out to look and they said it could use some work, but should not cause the leaking. Subsequently, we are hiring a different vendor to fix the flashing around the chimney. I would absolutely use these guys again, but I would watch more carefully how they do the flashing is all. Overall, happy with the work.

Arrived on time, Finished quickly. Cleanup was good. On-site foreman was responsive and helpful. Living in Cambridge, houses are very close together, and I was concerned that neighbors not be inconvenienced. Neighbors on both sides were very satisfied.
Description of Work: Re-roofed entire roof. Dealt with difficult situations including need to keep old roofing material from falling on flowers in front yard & odd rubber roof at ridge. Suggested installing twirling vents since the hipped roof would not permit installation of ridge vent. I got 3 estimates, and this one was exactly in the middle of the other two; neither of these suggested the twirling vents.

They did show up for an estimate, but would not negotiate how the job was to be done, so I got someone else.
Description of Work: Farina's estimate to reroof a 2nd floor bay window, and replace the siding trim which had rust streaks from the old rusty metal roof, was high ($1500; I got the job done very well for less, by another company), AND Farina wasn't going to remove the old rusting metal roof that was causing the rusty streaks - they were just going to put rubber over it.

I obtained several estimates and Farina was the lowest. The estimate was done while I wasn't there so I was a little wary of items not fully covered. I spoke with Vita in the office who assured me they had covered everything I was worried about. The workers showed up on time day one and got right to work. When I got home that evening they were still working and the yard was trashed... an hour later when they left for the day, the place was spotless... no dumpster in the driveway, no nails or debris obvious. They had completed a little over half the work and had not stripped any roofing they did not replace that day, so the sheathing was never left exposed. They arrived on time on day two and when I got home that evening were cleaning up. When they finished, once again the place was thoroughly clean. I had asked for a non-standard detail at the gable rakes and I was pleased when the job foreman called me to clarify the extent of this detail to ensure they did it to my satisfaction. I've actually had neigbors comment on how clean the place was and how quickly the work was done.

The job went very smoothly and painlessly. A very pleasant man came out and evaluated it the next day. Within three days, the work was completed by another pleasant man and his assistant.
Description of Work: They evaluated leaks inside the house and checked the roof. He determined that it was the flashing around the chimney and plumbing vents. He reworked the flashing. He also replaced some shingles and reattached the fascia board which was loose.

We had a couple estimates and based our decision on those. They did the work in two days time. They made sure that the neighbors car was parked away to avoid damage. I liked that they paid attention to detail when they cleaned up. They made sure that it was spotless.

We expected the job to take a couple days, but they had a cancellation and sent a crew of 10 men over. The house and garage were finished in one day! They did a superb job cleaning up our yard and our neighbors' yards, and left us plenty of extra tile for future use. If you need a roof, call them!
Description of Work: Complete stripping and re-shingling of our house and garage, approx 25 squares of shingles in all. The roof needed to be replaced when we bought the house. We got three estimates, and Farina's was in the middle. We had a personal reference from a friend who had used them, and that person had spoken to other people who used them. One thing we really liked was the policy of only removing as many shingles as they could replace in a day, so we'd never have to deal with a blue tarp on half the roof for 2-3 days. They returned calls and answered all of our questions.

They are responsive getting back to you if you had a problem. They do good work. They seem to care a lot about how the customers feel about their work. We've used them before and they always come if there is a problem without any kind of argument. They even follow up after the repair to make sure its ok.

The hard part was getting in touch with the office to find out when the job would be done. Any roofer is subject to the whims of the weather, but once I had accepted their estimate, R.P. Farina did a poor job of informing me when they would do it. It was very difficult to get an answer from them. After two reschedulings, they promised Monday. They never showed up. It wasn't until noon that day that I was able to get an answer and learned that they had rescheduled the job for Tuesday. This was very annoying, since they had my home phone number (and had left a couple of messages before), so they should have left me a message over the weekend. On the positive side, when the crew did finally show up, they were very efficient and seemed experienced. They got right to work and used tarps to protect the grounds. The job only took a day. They also did a very thorough job of cleaning up.

Work was done quickly and well. Clean up was thorough and complete. My only concerns were they were the only company I spoke to before the work was done (I got 4 estimates) that did not send a representative out to meet with me. They have also been very pushy about getting paid and asked me for a check before they even sent me a bill. Since I need a detailed bill for tax purposes I am being a little reticent about paying them without one. The contract stated that they needed partial payment before job was finished but they never asked for it even though I would have gladly paid it. When I asked them to send me a bill so I could in turn mail them a check they were kind of rude, acting as if I were going to stiff them. Also, hardly anyone who performed the job spoke English so it was difficult to ask questions while they were working.

The biggest problem was the crew didn't have a graph of the English language. The owner was friendly and I mentioned to him that we had some plants that needed to be protected. The owner was not on the site and everyone on the crew was non English speaking. This was not explained to the Foreman about the plants. The place was trashed and the roof was slapped on. I had to leave work to come home and supervise the job. It was a horrifying experience. There were always that they didn't show up when they were suppose to. When I pointed out the plants they pretty much ignored me and kept working.

Although, I'm also in the market for a new roof and am collecting estimates, Farina was the first company willing to do the small repair on short notice on a roof in such bad shape. They came out early the day after I called and did the repair, careful not to do further damage to shingles. They were polite and friendly and I'm hoping they'll be able to do the full roof replacement.

These guys were great. Big crew (10 men) worked fast. Job took 1 and 1/2 days. Complicated job completed with care to detail. No dumpster needed, they hauled debris away in a dump truck so driveway remained free. Crew was very nice, polite, hard ( !!!! ) working and careful. I was very impressed at how clean they left the yard, not a trace of stuff left. Magnet used to pick up stray nails.
Description of Work: Striped 2 layers of roofing off smallish house and garage. Replaced boards. Ice shield on first 3'' of roof and tri flex paper on the rest. 8'' drip edge around total perimeter. 30 year architectural shingles. Replaced lead chimney flashing and ridge vents. Liberty roofing on 2 dormers and porch. Debris removed. Ten year 100 percent guarantee. I first contacted them during this very rainy period. Very responsive, quick to visit and send the estimate. Scheduled the work quickly with our leaks in mind.
