Description of Work: We needed a new roof (it was a known expense revealed in our home inspection) and since we were getting solar panels installed, we figured it would be good to go ahead and get the new roof done right away. Since we had the time pressure, the team at RP Farina worked with us and even though it was still winter, we were able to go ahead and get the roof done. It was a quick job and we are very happy with the quality of the work so far.

Description of Work: Deposit was paid in early summer, company keeps postponing the job date by 1 month, currently estimated for mid-december (Really??? December for a New England roof properly installed???). Company complete lack of communication, only front desk person answers phone calls and says will forward to manager, no call back ever. Evaluating legal options/action to get refund of deposit.

Description of Work: Removed shingles and reroofed with rubber. Removed section of siding and installed metal flashing. Removed old wood trim and replaced with Azek. | |Work was performed carefully and thoroughly with extra precaution taken to prevent leaks from ice dam formation. The key ingredient was the crew chief who is highly experienced with both roofing and carpentry.

Description of Work: This is to continue from yesterday. They did show up within two hours. Gary was polite and he said that the company had made a mistake and a shingle was split . He fixed it by putting some black tar stuff on the roof and that fixed the leak. He apologized for the company's mistake and he was nice. We don't know if we have damage, such as mold.

Description of Work: Called them several times for estimates. Each time they swore they'd call back. After several months, they called back & apologized. Called them a couple of months later for an estimate. Never heard back. Each time I called, I spoke with someone. If they can't return phone calls, what happens when you hire them?

Description of Work: Emergency roof repair from high winds. R P Rafina Co was very responsive and helpful returning calls and trying to get to job as soon as possible! As it turns out I was able to get another roofing contractor before calling R P Rafina to do the work sooner.

 + -1 morePROS: RICHARD FARINA WAS THE ONLY ROOFER WHO GAVE US AN ESTIMATE THAT ACTUALLY GOT UP ON THE ROOF TO LOOK AROUND. HE HAS A LARGE CREW THAT GOT THE JOB DONE IN UNDER 3 DAYS. THEY DID AN OKAY JOB OF CLEANING UP. CONS: ON ONE SIDE PORCH THE CREW REMOVED TWO WOODEN TRIM PIECES LEAVING UNSIGHTLY GAPS; ONE DOWNSPOUT ON THE FRONT WAS OFF ANGLE BY ABOUT 10 DEGREES; ONE DOWNSPOUT IN BACK WAS PUT ON BACKWARDS. I WAS TOLD THE SUPERVISOR ON THE CREW WAS NEW. THE OFFICE STAFF IS PLEASANT AND RESPONSIVE; THE COMPANY HAS NOT RESPONDED TO REPEATED REQUESTS TO ADDRESS ISSUES. 2010 UPDATE: STILL FINDING PROBLEMS.
Description of Work: REPLACED ROOF SHINGLES; REPAIRED/REPLACED CHIMNEY FLASHING; REPLACED GUTTERS.

 + -1 moreTHEY WORKED VERY QUICKLY, DID THE JOB IN 1 DAY AND A COUPLE OF HOURS. ROOF ISN'T VERY BIG, BUT IS STEEPLY PITCHED. THE WORKERS DAMAGED A GARDEN AND THREW AWAY LARGE QUANTITIES OF WOOD CHIPS WHEN THEY USED BIG SHOVELS TO COLLECT THE SHINGLES AND OTHER DEBRIS FROM THE ROOF. THE PRICE WAS ALMOST $2000 LESS THAN OTHER ESTIMATES WHICH WAS WONDERFUL NEWS FOR ME. THIS COMPANY HAD INSTALLED A FLAT RUBBER ROOF ON THE SAME HOUSE ABOUT 14 YEARS AGO, AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS WITH IT.
Description of Work: REMOVED 3 LAYERS OF ASPHALT SHINGLES, REINFORCED GAPS IN BEAMS, COVERED WITH THE SPECIAL BLACK PAPER, INSTALLED 30 YEAR ARCHITECTURAL SHINGLES, CLEANED UP.

CLEANUP WAS EXTREMELY THOROUGH. GREAT JOB! WHILE FARINA ROOFING IS NEW TO ANGIE'S LIST, I BELIEVE HIS COMPANY HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU FOR 20 YEARS.
