left huge holes in the walls and did not properly patch them. If he had been professional, he would have returned to the site to properly spakle. Contractor complained about the job.

Very quick response and scheduling. Electrician appeared exactly on time, was very professional and helpful, and quickly took out old light and installed the new bathroom light fixture. Absolutely will use again.

They are good. There is nothing I can do about the price. Very responsive. They came right away, and gave me his cellphone number to text them. So he and the staff was texting me when they were getting here. That was great. I wasn't sitting around waiting for them to come. He was great. I have them in my cellphone. There was one person. He came over two days. Probably two hours each day. They were extremely responsive, and communicating when they were here. The area was fine, perfect. I think talking to me, and telling me what they were doing. Communication. They were a great company. Nice electrician. Didn't talk down to me. I like them.

Philip squeezed this into a tight time window we had. He showed up every day he said he would and was always on time. He and his helper were polite, personable, and hard-working. They worked non-stop and did indeed under-run their estimate. Every detail, down to the neat, legible lettering of all breakers in the new panel, was done professionally. I ran a large contracting business myself and hired hundreds of subcontractors in my career. Philip's Electric is a first-class operation from start to finish.

Jeff came out and tested and replaced the GFI with a better circuit. Jeff troubleshooted the fountain pump's wiring and found the wiring was good but the pump was not. He helped home owner replace the outdoor fountain pump, and then Jeff made a new connection with the pump's new electrical cord. Before leaving the job site, he asked if any other electrical problems. We really appreciated this. Jeff then replaced a dinner switch for us in the dining room. Jeff was very professional and knowledgeable. Would re-hire Philip's Electrical in a heart beat. Wish hourly rate was a little lower but when you need quality workmanship you need to pay for it.

It went great! They were here right on time and did an amazing job. Everything looked better than expected and we would definitely hire them again.

Philip and his colleague were great--very knowledgeable and great at explaining the issues and ways forward to resolve them. We hired Phillip for some circuit work and to replace a ceiling fan, and he noticed our broken doorbell on arrival--he went ahead and fixed that too.

Went very well. They were professional and friendly. Performed the work and cleaned up all debris. We hired them a second time for a different outage caused by a faulty outdoor outlet, and their response was quick and repairs made. We are happy with both jobs and will call in the future if needed.

Phillips had a cancellation, and was able to come over the next day and finish the extensive rewiring work quickly. Work included the new wiring for the stove, rewiring the fuses in the basement, and fixing the configuration to work with the increased voltage the oven required (not totally sure how to describe the work since I'm not an electrician) Everything is working fine 6 months later.

Due to a cancellation, Philips was able to come over the next day and install the new line. It was a fairly involved job, required running a new connection through the floor behind the range and doing some rewiring.

Our house has had many renovations, many electricians, and there's lots of odd non-standard wiring that wasn't exactly up to code. Philip ran some new wiring and got everything functioning properly. He tested everything properly and helped me get the smart thermostats configured. He also gave me advice on the difficulty of installing future smart thermostats in other locations. I will definitely call him again.

On time and a good job done in a timely manner

I am impressed by the quality of work and the quantity of work accomplished in two hours. I did not attempt to comparison shop on the pricing ($240 for the first hour, $180 for each additional hour, covering two people working together: Philip and a younger assistant who seemed similarly skilled). There was clearly attention to doing the work in a way that caused the least possible damage to existing drywall and cabinetry. Also attention to cleaning up any mess that was created.

I called my former go-to electrician and discovered that he went out of business. Then I called the first 3 electricians listed on Angie's List for my area. 2 didn't call back and 1 called back but could not do the job. So I was shocked when Philip's actually answered the phone AND agreed to do the job. Plus they had another job coincidentally on my street the next day so they came over the next day, after that job. The malfunctioning overhead lights are pot lights that were installed from the attic above the room. I had had mice up there and I was afraid that they had chewed through the wires. Philips knew immediately that the problem was that the room had a dimmer switch and I had started using non-dimmable bulbs that did not work with the switch. Duh. I asked them to replace the 3 dimmer switches installed in various rooms with on/off switches so I would not have to worry about what kind of bulb to buy. I never used the dim feature of the old switches. They were always on full light anyway. They charged me the price of a service call and were done very quickly. I am so grateful. Now I have a new go-to electrician.

I was totally happy with my experience with Philip's Electric, from the time of the initial call to a follow-up a couple of weeks after the work was completed. I needed a bathroom exhaust fan installed quickly, before plastering and painting could be completed on a bathroom in time for new tenants to move into the apartment in our two family home. After hearing from a larger local electrical contractor that he had no openings for more than a month, I was worried about finding someone who could do the work on time. I called Philip on a Friday, he answered his phone, gave me a quote for the job and said he could come on Monday afternoon. He and his assistant Jeff arrived on time, completed the job within 4 hours and cleaned up beautifully. They were polite and friendly, and I felt comfortable leaving them alone in the house when I had to go out while they were working. A couple of weeks later, after other work on the bathroom had been completed, the fan was not working and the switch was sparking and shorting out. I called Philip and he again answered his phone right away and sent Jeff out to fix the problem (faulty outlet) within 2 hours, at no charge, of course. Everything about working with Philip was positive, and we will absolutely use him again and recommend him to our friends.

Good communication and response for scheduling. Contacted ahead of arrival and arrived on time. Answered all my questions and responded with various options to help me make a decision on what action to take. Worked thru my entire list w/o issue. The Philip did clearly communicated prices and got OK prior to installation.

I was surprised to learn that the cost per hour included the time spent traveling between the provider's work/home address and my home. This substantially increased the advertised price of the first hour. This should have been clearly stated on the the advertised price. We have not had this price inflation with the other electrician we used recently.

Philip was awesome. He was prompt, professional, and a really enjoyable presence. He did a great job not only with doing what we asked him to do, but also with providing very welcome feedback and ideas for how to achieve what we wanted. His demeanor is really appreciated as well -- very professional, but also very relaxed and friendly. I know that we'll be calling him again when we're ready to tackle the kitchen!

not so well... An electrician came to my house, took one look at the junction box and said that the wire ends were too old (insulation worn off) to do the installation. They charged me $180 for this. I asked what could be done and he said that the entire circuit must be replaced. He then traced the rooms that the circuit serviced and called the owner (Philip). I asked Philip to give me a ballpark estimate to replace the circuit and was told approximately 3 days and $5000. I'm not bothered by the fact that a $180 job may have turned into a $5000 job - sometimes these things happen. What bothered me is how quickly they declared that the entire circuit needed to be replaced. They didn't even suggest that they may be able to recover the existing wires by replacing the junction box with a larger one and slipping insulation over a very small length of the wire. When I told Philip to send me a proposal but that I was going to get other estimates, he seemed a bit agitated about this. Two other electricians I called said that in these situations, they can usually reuse the existing wires by putting in a larger junction box (required by code anyway for the weight of this chandelier) and insulating the existing wire ends. I had another electrician do just that for about $480 (it took 2 hours). So I saved $4520 and three days of my house being worked on. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, but I got that awful feeling that they were trying to take advantage of me and/or the situation to up-sell a much larger job. Maybe they took a look at my house and neighborhood and figured that they could. Fixing the existing wire ends didn't seem like a big deal to the 2 other electricians I called, why was it with Philips Electric? They just took one look at it and said "no", that it would cost $5000, take 3 days, and then charged me $180 for the privilege! I feel sorry for people who don't know better when to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I wasn't born yesterday.

He arrived on time. Quickly swapped the new fan for the old fan. There was a bit of spackling and reinforcing to be done. He was not able to vent the fan and that was ok. So the job was done in under 1 hour--which is why I was so surprised to get an invoice listing 2 hours of labor... I thought maybe it was an accidental over charge--since he was on the property for 60 minutes, but then after I questioned him, he said it was "travel time." That literally doubled the price of the job. The shifting explanation is why I rated Professionalism as only fair. The fan is completely functional but I was overcharged.

A cable was needed in order to allow streaming of the TV. The electrician came precisely on time, was confident, assured. Ran the cable from the back office, up through the attic, across the house and down to the TV area. I had purchased their deal so got $30 off the four hour job.

I called Philip's Electric after being given the runaround from another electrician that had previously done work in my home. Philip called me right away and put me on his schedule. I live in an old house with no wiring for cable and internet. Philip was very detailed as to what he was going to do and did the job ahead of schedule. He and Jeff were very neat and clean. Philip also followed up with me if I had any questions about the job or any questions in the future. I highly recommend him and will call him for an electrical upgrade I'm planning this Spring.
