I sent out bids to see who would respond and compare prices. Payne was one I had high hopes for. They never responded to the big. I further sent an email describing my situation and never got a return call or email. I am sick and tired of these companies not respond to inquiries.

I can't speak more highly of Mike and his team. Despite the difficulty of accessing the crawl space below our condo, the work was done efficiently and with excellent quality. His work passed inspection, with one minor detail, on the first inspection. I will use Payne Electrical for all of our electrical needs going forward and will readily recommend him to friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Mike and his crew of 2 upgraded our service from 60 to 100A in our 150 year old building. He also provided service to newly installed central AC and its outdoor condenser. As a side project, he installed a motion sensitive light fixture on the exterior of the building.

Mike and his assistant arrived on time. This was a large, complicated project because the old panel was in very bad shape. The new panel was installed and wired, all new breakers were installed with proper amperage ratings for the circuits, all circuits were traced and labelled. Previously our house had two meters and two panels. The second meter was removed and the second panel (for the finished basement) was tied to the first panel as a sub with proper cabling and breaker size. All worked passed inspection. Everything was neat and clean and Mike was courteous and helpful throughout the process.
Description of Work: Replace existing 200 amp electrical service panel. Replace all breakers. Tie in sub panel.

In April, we had Mike give us a quote for the work on our attic. The work, at that point, was a ways out, because we were still collecting bids for all of the contractors for our renovations. Unfortunately, due to work, I was forced to put off selecting contractors until the beginning of July. I contacted him again in July, and asked if his quote was still valid. He responded affirmatively, and I sent him a contract for review. The contract listed 1. The parties involved 2. A complete list of the work to be done 3. The standards of work 4. The terms for payment 5. The standard Massachusetts terms for home improvement contracts 6. Terms about permitting, insurance, and subcontracts I used the same form for my carpenter and insulator, without issue. Mike responded as follows, after a significant delay: "I have to tell you that a 6 page contract for a $4000 job is a major red flag for me. I understand you want to cover all your bases and I don't blame you. I've never signed a contract for a job that I haven't written myself and I'm not looking to start. At this point I think I'm going to pass."
Description of Work: Payne Electrical gave us an estimate for rewiring the entirety of our second and third floors. He then balked at signing a contract that listed the job requirements and work to be done.

Mike worked quickly and did the job correctly. Mike installed the breaker panel, ran new wires and installed GFI outlets for the garage door opener and the utility outlet. He also repaired a double-tapped breaker in the main house panel. Everything went smoothly, Mike showed up on time and was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Added an electrical sub-panel and breakers to detached garage. Replaced existing outlets with GFI models.

Due to the extent of the project, and working around the fact that were were living in the house as multiple renovations were being done, Mike had to accommodate our requested schedule which required him to perform the needed work in phases. He was very helpful in making suggestions on how to schedule the various tasks - plus he was always here and on time and the costs were exactly as estimated. I would definitely use him again and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Upgrade incoming service to 200 amp for a 95 year old house along with the removal of old knob and tube wiring and rewiring the full house including two furnaces and air conditioners, water heater, laundry, full kitchen, two new bath rooms and exterior outlets.

Mike and his assistant tech arrived on time. They were very courteous and professional. Work was completed quickly and without any issues. Mike purchased a wall-mount prior to arrival, installed it, and installed wire molding to hide the wiring to the TV. Mike was very knowledgeable about electrical matters and inspired a very high degree of confidence in his abilities. He also did an estimate on combining our 2 electrical panels (on separate meters) into a new larger single panel, eliminating one of the meters, and replacing all the breakers and bringing everything up to code. The estimate price was very reasonable and we'll be using Mike for this project at a near date in the future.
Description of Work: Install TV wall-mount in master bedroom and estimate total electrical panel replacement.

Mike Payne was prompt to reply to my initial enquiry. He came over the next day to quote for the job (and find out just how much knob and tube wiring there was in the house). He then provided an estimate and fixed a date on which he would come to do the work. I particularly appreciated this as although my work is flexible I need to know well in advance when I will have to be at home. He turned up with an assistant promptly on the date. The work went faster than expected (because of a low attic over the kitchen) taking half a day instead of a day or more as he had anticipated. To my amazement he then gave me a considerable amount of money off the original quote saying he would simply go on to the next job. He had said that the job might leave holes in the plaster and I was worried about having to repaint, but as it turned out there was only one small hole which they patched with plaster and I can easily repaint myself. The whole experience was excellent. I couldn't have asked for more.
Description of Work: Removed old knob-and-tube wiring which was supplying lights on the ground floor of the house and replaced it.

Payne Electrical upgraded my Electrical Service to both units of a two-family house. Michael was great from the very first call to completion. His quote was better than the 'larger' firms and he didn't try to upsell for extra work. He always answered his phone, was very direct and honest, and he showed up when he stated (a few minutes early actually) and completed the job efficiently, cleanly and as quoted. I will certainly recommend him to friends and will call him again if needs arise. Great job!

Mike and his assistant, Alex, were on time, courteous and professional. It was a very cold day and they persevered in the difficulties encountered in getting to the hard to reach area for installing a motion sensing safety lighting fixture.

Mike was great - very easy to work with and offered good advice on what to do with two existing outlets that we were covering with some new cabinets. Mike was a professional throughout, came on time, completed the work in the time he'd predicted and cleaned up after himself. I highly recommend working with Payne Electric!

They were a little pricey, but came in the same price as they quoted. I have worked with him in a couple of projects in the past one and half years. They have always been very helpful and understanding. They will show up when they say they would. They do good work and they are nice guys. Their price is fair.
Description of Work: I have used Payne Electrical Contractors LLC four times. They were here today for rewiring our stairway and bathroom. They installed some hardwire in the entire place.

Michael and his apprentice Alix were great. They did a fantastic job on our condo. They were punctual and very neat. A contractor that actually cleaned up after themselves. Their work was great and their advice was even better. They were very good about recommending what we should do and what we didn't need instead of just trying to sell us everything. Excellent experience overall.
