In order to perform renovations I contracted Metrosexual Movers to move bedroom furniture from our house to my in-laws house (accross the street). Estimating was accurate and straightforward. Service was provided promptly and professionally by 2 people. no furniture or household items were damaged in the move.

I hired this one man (plus part time helper) shop, this is a tiny operation, perhaps only appropriate for tiny moves. First of all, he did not come to my house to give me an estimate of cost or time. He just trusted my and quot;judgementand quot; to estimate the amount of and quot;stuffand quot; which was wrong (I am not a mover). So my stuff did not all fit in the truck. Next time I will not hire a mover unless they come to my house and eyeball my stuff. He did a good job of cleaning out the errant stuff in the basement, which I appreciated, as I did not do a good job of packing the basement stuff. Upon delivery, which went smoothly, he offered to connect my washing machine, which he attached incorrectly, and I then had to call a plumber to fix it. I tipped the owner fifty bucks, and his worker one hundred, as he did most of the lifting and carrying. Owner seemed annoyed with that. In short, I would not hire this guy again.
Description of Work: Moved my household stuff 25 miles from arlington to a town out on 495.

Response from Metrosexual Movers
This review/commentary has a few inaccuracies/mischaracterizations we'd like to correct for the record. First of all our business has been licensed and insured since 2004. The company's owner (Joe) has over a dozen years of hands-on moving experience and serves as the crew chief on every assignment. Having the company's owner (and a mover with that much experience) on EVERY booking is a unique benefit to using Metrosexual Movers - in stark contrast to just about all other moving companies which traditionally send nothing but transient day labor to your home. The rest of our team are all professionals in other areas, who ALSO happen to love moving. As we say: "it's like getting paid to work out!" But the truth is, moving is a fun and unique combination of physical and mental problem-solving, combined with fascinating aspects of care and customer service. Metrosexual Movers' staff are all hand-picked and trained (by Joe) to BE Metrosexual Movers; and the company draws exclusively from this pool of said professionals. Since 2004 we have been serving large and small residential clients, commercial clients, and performing local and interstate moves. Ours is a boutique service, not a "tiny operation." Furthermore, as far as this customer's specific move is concerned, WE DID in fact fit her entire inventory in our vehicle(?!). The day before her booking, we received an email from this customer (excerpted here) alluding to the fact that she "may" have omitted several items from the inventory she provided us. "Hi Joe, I am getting things wrapped up here, but I feel like I have more stuff than that inventory list now, due to the shed stuff which I might have forgotten to mention. What size is the truck? No big deal, if it doesn't fit on the truck, my neighbors can store my bikes and mower till later." The morning of her move we expressed concern that many of the items in her basement and the large items in the shed that she had failed to mention might make the packing difficult. At this time we offered her an additional trip the following day if some of the outdoor items would not fit. She seemed appreciative of that offer. Then, to her pleasant surprise, we managed to fit her ENTIRE INVENTORY in our truck - including all the large outdoor items and basement inventory that she failed to inform us about. The only thing we left behind that day was an extension ladder (which we offered to lash to the top of our truck, but) which she happily said she would have a friend transport later. Due to our unparalleled ability to pack more into a truck than seemingly possible (and this is what having a professional designer as a crew chief does for the service), we saved this customer a few hundred dollars (for what should have required an additional trip out to Harvard, MA) by carefully and "surgically" fitting all of her unreported inventory in our truck. As far as her complaint about the "incorrectly installed" washing machine is concerned - upon bringing her washer and dryer into the new home (after having uninstalled these units at the pick-up locale mind you) we offered to reconnect the machines. This is the service we always offer, and we un- and reinstall hundreds of washers and dryers per year. She said that she had a plumber coming out to the house to do this. We told her that it would take us about 5 minutes, that we provide this service on almost every move, and that it would save her whatever money the plumber was going to charge her for his visit. She was surprised to hear that we would be capable of doing what (she may have thought) was a technically difficult procedure (even though she hadn't given the uninstall of these machines any pause). She cautiously but happily accepted our offer. The reinstall took 5 minutes, went off without a hitch . . . the only thing we mentioned to her was that the dryer vent hose could have been replaced for one that would better fit her new layout (as we were simply using the length of hose that was cut for her previous home); and that she could get those parts at any hardware store. It now seems likely that she went ahead and paid for the plumber to come to her home anyway (perhaps out of insecurity?), and the plumber probably fed her a line like "well, it's a good thing you called me, to fix this 'incorrectly installed' washing machine" . . . in an effort to justify his mostly superfluous presence there. But only that one particularly trustworthy plumber will ever know the real truth! All and all, we found this review to be confounding (at best), and we would urge readers to take it with a huge grain of salt. (Just as an aside, no Metrosexual Mover has ever made a disparaging comment about ANY gratuity!)

The day stretched from the projected 7 hours to more than double that (due to our own inaccurate estimate.) The work was done efficiently, in a pleasant and professional manner. Our concerns as well as our possessions were carefully attended to. We were so pleased with our experience a year ago, that we called Metrosexual again last month when we needed something moved. We plan to keep their number "in our Rolodex" for whenever we need moving services, and would refer them enthusiastically to anyone.
Description of Work: We have used Metrosexual Movers twice. The first was last year when we moved from our long-term home to an intown condo (ie we had lots of "stuff.") We had underestimated exactly how much we had, so the move took much longer than we anticipated. Although the work was exhausting, the crew was efficient, pleasant, and seemed tireless. They were attentive to our concerns, and the move went far more smoothly than we had expected a move like this could go. Last month, we needed some help in transporting some furniture to a vacation home. It was a small load, but we found the same high level of performance and responsiveness
