Great Sky Solar

As I turned up my AC more than a few times this summer I said to myself, THANK YOU Great Sky Solar. It has been now 20 months without an electric bill and the 21-panel Solar System installed by Great Sky has worked flawlessly. I can view the performance using the ENPHASE monitor. Great Sky was as perfect as it can get with design, installation and commissioning. Winter, summer, spring, or fall the panels have been maintenance-free. I thought the Great Sky team was wonderful to work with and they answered every question I had. My roof, which has multiple “lines” and facing directions, was analyzed to provide the most cost-effective solution. As an environmental and efficiency Professional Engineer, this attention to detail was something I love for my wallet as well as the planet. Go green and save green!

For some context, I am the type of person who over-analyzes and over-researches before making a decision (especially one as large of a financial investment as getting solar) so I did a TON of research and spoke with almost a dozen installers. I spoke with large national installers and more local/regional installers. I ultimately knew that I wanted a local installer for the personal touch and face-to-face type of relationship vs. an 800-number to call. I decided on Great Sky Solar my install after chatting with Darren and also David, who were both so patient with my plethora of questions and comparisons and more questions with follow-up questions. They were extremely attune to my needs and responsive throughout the pre-sales process. From the time I signed the contract all the way through to the installation date, Great Sky Solar remained in contact with me and still answered all my follow-up questions. Timelines were adhered to, walk-throughs of my house/attic were easy and I specifically remember the folks who came over (Darren and an engineer) take off their shoes out of respect when they entered my home. Classy. Finally the day of installation, I walked through the design one last time with the team and made a change in where the conduit was going to be on the roof and how it came down the side of my house. They were very accommodating and placed it exactly where I asked, the first time! Installation was completed ahead of schedule and at one point I think there were about 10-12 people here on the 2nd day installing the panels and getting everything up on the roof. The longest part of the process was getting the electrical work done as the placement of my main service panel is in an awkward area - but again, they did their work, cleaned up and were professional the ENTIRE time! I truly cannot say enough good things about my experience with them. If you're looking to get solar in the Greater Boston area - look further, Great Sky Solar is A++ in my book. Never happened I was "Ghosted" No response to NUMEROUS calls

It went good, they we're some mistake about the measure of the panel but the make through it. They fix their mistake with the warranty. They also hire someone as customer advocate so they can follow up the customer issue.

I had a great experience from start to finish. Working with Great Sky Solar Company was a wonderful experience. They explained every step of the process and installation was smooth and very organized. Installers were very friendly and accommodating with my schedule, they went above and beyond and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend this company to anyone thinking of going solar. There are a lot of options with Solar and the entire process can be overwhelming. Great Sky Solar always made time to address our questions and make sure we were informed and comfortable each step of the way. Installation was easy, the team cleaned up after themselves, and adhered to mask recommendations for COVID. We are very happy with the installed solar system and ultimately our decision to go with Great Sky Solar. The installed panels look great. Note: There are a lot of steps to get the system fully switched on. Great Sky Solar handled all interactions with the city, state and utilities but these steps can take time to get though depending on how responsive the city and utility departments are.

Great Sky Solar was fabulous. We wanted a system that would maximize our small roof and be worry-free. We looked over many quotes through EnergySage. Great Sky quoted us a competitive price but said we could fit more panels by filling every inch of available roof. We liked them because they of the promising quote and the fact that they are worker-owned. They even worked around a skylight, raising the brackets on a panel to partially conceal it but leave it so we could still use it for ventilation and some light. Also they didn't try to upsell. They recommended against a 15th panel in a suboptimal location--they said it wouldn't ROI soon and they didn't want us to waste money. We went with it anyway because it completed the picture and gave us more capacity. Along the way they helped us with the financing, paperwork, online interface, working with the electirc company, and advice. The system works great and we pay no electrical bill. We're set for decades now, but if we ever needed solar again (like if we moved), we would work with Great Sky again without hesitation. (One more thought: Even though they are a successful company, Great Sky has a small-biz, personalized vibe. A different co. dismissed us when they came to give a quote. That company said we couldn't fit many panels and clearly were not interested in a job of our scale. I'm glad we went w/Great Sky because we ended up with more capacity than any of the other companies.)

Purchasing a home solar system was a big deal, and my son and I were very thorough in researching and selecting what we feel were the best inverters, panels, and installer for the cost. We researched 15+ installers and narrowed it down to 4 of them to meet in person and raise the exact same questions/concerns, listen to their advice, and carefully consider their proposals. We were fortunate to have met what we believe were 4 very good candidates, but in the end David at Great Sky Solar was tops--in terms of both expected quality and cost. David and his team are true professionals in their industry, and they write contractual terms that are very favorable to their customer in order to, as David himself puts it, keep their own "feet to the fire" to ensure complete customer satisfaction both during the install and for years after. It's been 6 months since our install was done, and we are completely satisfied and confident that Great Sky will be there if anything goes awry in the future.

It went well. The process took a while as they were backed up by the time we ordered (this was explained at the time). The installation took 1-2 days and went smoothly. Bottom line was that I trusted them to do a good job and they did. Their prices were good and their "pitch" was accurate.

Came across the company thru routine internet search. Loved the idea of supporting an employee owned firm, and was confirmed in my expectation that there was going to be a high degree of service and support. It started from day 1 of contact, when one of the staff happened to be in the vicinity after my initial outreach call to the company. He came by, with a ladder, went up to the roof to give feedback about was the roof in good enough condition, would it be possible to have panels given the number of trees in the area (and other relevant questions). He was so helpful as were the other member of the team that I talked to about panels and the process, etc. The company discussed every detail of their proposal and we discussed adding some panels to further optimize production. They communicated the timeframe for all the phases, and they delivered! Any question along the way they have answered timely and with the right people who know what they are doing. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

For a complicated project like this, it went very well. We heard about Great Sky from a relative that used them and was very happy with them. Great Sky was right beside us every step of the process. They were helpful in financing options and signing up for energy credits, the whole package. Our panels are working great now. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to go Solar.

Great Sky Solar installed our ground mounted array five years ago. They were great to work with, even attending Conservation Commission meetings with the City to help us gain approval for our project. Our inverter malfunctioned last year and Great Sky were very responsive. It's good to know that we've purchased from a company that services and stands behind the parts they install. We're so happy we decided to go with Great Sky.

I can't even begin to describe how happy we were in our experience with Great Sky Solar. We did extensive research when it came to choosing a company to work with and Great Sky blew everyone else out of the water. Their professionalism, experience, and honesty could not have been better. Before anything was signed they made sure to get up on our roof and actually look at the condition and how the panels would best be installed unlike the other companies we got estimates from. During the time of installation the installers, electrician, and owner of the company could not have been more communicative and thoughtful. The fact that they have salaried employees who are paid well and are not rushing through made all the difference. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get solar panels installed - you won't be disappointed!

I did considerable research on many solar installation companies in the fall of 2019. I chose Great Sky Solar because they clearly explained the pros and cons of residential solar; helped me cut through the jargon to understand the technical essence of panels, inverters, monitoring systems, and tax credits; and provided several different designs and helped me choose the best one for my house. They even extended a 4% rebate since my installation would take place in 2020 at a 26% federal tax credit versus the 30% tax credit if the installation occurred in 2019. We were scheduled to install my panels in mid-March of 2020...and you know what happened next. COVID-19 interrupted our lives. Great Sky Solar's installation schedule was delayed due to COVID restrictions, but they stayed in touch with me and provided frequent updates, and were able to install my solar panels in early June. I decided to upgrade my main electrical panel at the same time. Great Sky Solar provided detailed specs for the panel, but the electrical contractor I hired to do the work installed the wrong panel, delaying my ability to begin solar production until early October. Great Sky Solar supported my efforts to get the electrical contractor to admit their mistake and pay me for the lost solar production from June to October, and much to my surprise (and delight) the electrical contractor reimbursed me for the lost production...thanks to Great Sky Solar going to bat for me. Great Sky Solar stuck with me through COVID and through electrical contractor issues, and have been a great partner throughout the journey.

David, his partners, and their employees at Great Sky Solar are a stellar bunch! They were personable, responsive, and all-around wonderful to work with. They did an excellent job installing efficient solar panels that have given us an enormous amount of satisfaction, knowing that we're getting all of our electricity from the sun!! Since the panels' installation almost two years ago, we've not paid one electric bill and have received a check every month from our electric company. And any time we had a question or needed anything from Great Sky, they were prompt and courteous in their responses. I've recommended them to at least eight friends since our installation and will continue to recommend Great Sky Solar — they are reputable and good people.

I went through a thorough evaluation processes that started with EnergySage and with a friend who was an expert in the field. The numbers such as install price and warranty cannot describe everything. In the end it boiled down to two things (1) Do I trust the company to do a good job at installation and future maintenance and (2) Will the company survive the length of the maintenance window. Here, talking to the owner of Great Sky was super helpful and I realized that he truly believes in creating a sustainable future. His words were backed up by his crew who were professional in the installation and helpful in getting the system setup. I highly recommend Great Sky for your solar needs.

They were great. Communication was excellent. Follow up has been excellent. Always there with answers and follow through. They create an excellent relationship that doesn't end when they finish the job. Most months we pay nothing for electricity. When we do it is a modest amount. Couldn't be happier.

They arrived to give an estimate almost instantly and delivered a high quality project with some special adaptations such as an outdoor charging outlet for our electric car. Fabulous communication throughout the experience.

quick effective installation providing great ROI!

I've had Great Sky install solar panels twice. Both times they delivered superior quality panels with excellent service: better equipment than the (bigger, fancier) competition, at a competitive price. Excellent service, smooth installation, meticulous cleanup, great communication, and--most important to me--spectacular follow-up whenever I've had a question. I've known Great Sky for around ten years. They are ethical, reliable, service-oriented, and they deliver a great system at a fair price. Can't say enough good about them. I've recommended them many times, and I'd use them again in a flash.
