Downing Landscape Service

Well when my wife called to tell him that we did not resign a contract with him, and he became quit angry and rude. He said he was going to send us the bill and threatened my wife by stating he would “track her down for the payment”. Of course we paid the $165 since the service performed, but my wife was quite upset. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN.

It seemed like we were at the bottom of his list so the snow removal did not occur for many hours after the storm ended. More importantly he ruined our lawn. We had to keep asking that he repair it in the Spring, but it wasn’t until early Summer when he got to throwing down some seeds. He did a terrible job repairing the lawn and in the end we had to hire another service in the Fall to repair it properly. If this is any indication of his lawn service then please stay away from him. Needless to say we did not hire him back this winter.

My wife and I purchased a house from a family that Bill (the owner) had done the landscaping for. After we moved in, Bill stopped by and introduced himself and gave me some info on the services he offers. It was a great no-pressure introduction and i really appreciated him swinging by, as it gave me a great place to start were I to need services. Fast-forward a couple months and I’m looking for someone for a Landscape project in the spring. Bill came by on time, gave some suggestions and walked through options. Later, when I was looking for someone to assist with snow-plowing and Bill is recommended. He did not have availability and did not come as far as our house, but went out of his way to put me in touch with someone who could help. I hope to be able to work with Bill on our project in the spring, and if we need any other landscape work he will be our first call.

I have used Bill in the past for regular lawn maintenance and used him this year for a major spring clean up as well as mulching all around the house and doing some other lawn work like cutting all of the beds, removing some debris and fertilizing the lawn. As always, Bill was very professional, did a great job on everything and was very nice to my super curious children during the process. I then asked Bill to do a couple other things after the work was completed and he was back out there with a couple of days to finish off the work. Couldn't be happier with the service. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for an odd job done or weekly maintenance through the year.

I tried to hire them for snow removal for the 2011-12 season as I felt they would be good as they are based close to me, but since I was not a regular summer lawn customer (i have no lawn) they would not accept me as a customer. I did meet with him, he was very nice and I would have hired him, but I did not fit his criteria.

Mike Downing was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Very helpful in material choice, driveway and patio design; garden design. The work was initiated and completed when promised. Exceptional commitment to customer service. Price was competitive.

They do a good job. They used to do the trimming, but we stopped them from doing that because they are so expensive. The quality of the work is excellent.
