Don & Steve arrived on time, inspected the boiler, pipes, valves etc. The guys are very experienced. They gave me free consultation. Our boiler is extremely undersized for the building. We will have to replace it sometime. We will keep Cassidy Plumbing & Heating in mind, for sure. I highly recommend them.

Don and Steve did a great job installing a new hot water heater and disposing of the old one. Two days later, by chance, my sewer line backed up and Don came first thing the next day (a Sunday!) to root it out and reseal it--even running out to Home Depot to get the part for me as I was without a car that day. Donald Cassidy is just great to work with. He and his assistant, Steve do superior work. They are super friendly and responsive. They provide prompt service and expert guidance on our options for repairs and upgrades to the various systems in our home. Excellent speedy work. Fair pricing.

It was 1 degree out, our gas furnace pilot was out, and I couldn't get it lit. We actually had a contract with the gas company's service people, but the account got messed up, and by the time that got straightened out, we were at the end of a huge line of people with heat problems, and could only get the next day. Temperature in the house was dropping, and we needed to do something to keep the pipes from freezing. I found Cassidy on the net, and picked them because they're a few streets over from us, and I thought we had a better chance of someone close coming on such a busy day, and I was right. He told me they'd be over after they finished up where they were, estimated an hour and a half, and said he'd call when he was on his way over. He did exactly that, and showed up right when he said he would, 6:30PM or so. He told me the best shot was to replace the thermocouple, at a cost of $200, and if that didn't turn out to be the problem, he wouldn't charge us. It was the best choice we had available, and a fair if-it's-not-the-problem arrangement. The price seemed high, but getting it fixed was a priority. It worked, furnace lit right up and stayed on, and that was great. Afterwords, I looked around on the net to get a sense of the fairness of the price. It's a $10 part, which you can't replace yourself because of the danger of gas leaks, and everyone says you should expect to pay way more than that to have it installed, but they were talking in the range of $100-150, not the $200 we paid. This is an expensive part of the country, short notice late on a very busy day, for work we really needed done, so I don't feel *that* bad about it, but the price was pretty high.

Don never showed up! After all the coordination of when he's going to show up and what exactly he's going to do - nothing. I left him 4 voicemails on the phone "that he always answers", but not even a courtesy call to let me know that he's tied up elsewhere or that he's running late. This after a "we're all about customer service" talk he gave us after the first repair he did for us. The problem is that we have to keep making arrangements with the tenant below (who has a gaping hole in her ceiling), and we have to keep taking time off from work to be there for plumbers that don't show up. Don Cassidy does not give free estimates. He'll charge $75 to take 5 minutes to look at the repair. After that, you have no choice but to hire him. His prices are not fair. We have somebody else coming to make the repair for a lot less than what Don quoted us.

DON RETURNED ALL CALLS ON TIME AND SHOWED UP FOR BOTH THE ESTIMATE AND APPOINTMENT EARLY. HE WAS FRIENDLY, PATIENT, PROFESSIONAL, AND FULLY COMPETENT. EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A SMALL JOB, HE WAS HAPPY TO DO IT AND NEVER GAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT HE WOULD RATHER BE DOING A MAJOR ($$$) PROJECT INSTEAD.

HE WAS LATE FOR THE ESTIMATE, BUT HE DID CALL TO LET ME KNOW. WE JUST FEEL LIKE HE WAS NOT INTERESTED IN THE JOB. WE NEVER RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE OR ANY OTHER RESPONSE.

HE WAS VERY THOROUGH AND EXPLAINED THINGS REALLY WELL TO ME. HE TOOK HIS TIME AND GAVE ME GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE CARE.

I WAITED A COUPLE OF DAYS AND STILL HAVE HEARD NOTHING.

THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE AND PROMPT, BUT I THOUGHT THEY CHARGED WAY TOO MUCH FOR A JOB THAT TOOK LESS THAN TWO HOURS TO COMPLETE. I USED THEM BECAUSE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY (COLD WEATHER SO I NEEDED HEAT, CARBON MONOXIDE RISK) BUT WOULD HAVE PREFERRED TO SHOP AROUND FOR LOWER PRICE.

HIS PLUMBING WORK WAS GOOD. HE CUT A WHOLE IN CABINET TO INSTALL NEW PIPE AND IT WAS VERY SLOPPY. OTHERWISE HE DID A GOOD JOB AND EVERYTHING IS FINE.

THEY DO VERY GOOD WORK.

THE PRICE CHARGED FOR WORK DONE SEEMED HIGH, BUT I DID NOT SHOP AROUND, AND HAVE NO BASIS FOR COMPARISON. ALSO, HE BILLS BY THE JOB AND DOES NOT BREAK OUT LABOR AND MATERIALS, FURTHER CONFUSING THE ISSUE.

AS TO PROFESSIONALISM, IF IT IS LIMITED TO CLEANLINESS AND COURTESY, THEY WERE TIDY AND USED POLITE LANGUAGE. HOWEVER, I THINK THEY THOUGHT I WAS AN ARROGANT FEMALE, WHEREAS I FEEL I WAS RIGHT TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT NOT HAVING WORKING TOILET, WANTING MY PHONE CALLS RETURNED PROMPTLY, AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, NOT WANTING THEIR SPURIOUS STORY ABOUT HAVING TO SPECIAL ORDER THE PART, AND THEN NEVER GETTING BACK TO ME, DESPITE MORE PHONE CALLS. I THINK THAT IS ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE. IF THEY DON''T WANT MY BUSINESS, THEY SHOULD JUST SAY SO IMMEDIATELY TO FREE ME UP TO LOOK ELSEWHERE.

DON IS SUCH A GREAT PROFESSIONAL TO DEAL WITH. HE'S INTERESTED IN REPEAT BUSINESS; THEREFORE, HE'S HONEST AND UP FRONT. HE'S NOT CHEAP BUT HE'S THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. DON TOLD US THAT WE NEEDED TO REPLACE OUR PIPES BUT SAID WE COULD WAIT A FEW YEARS TO DO IT. HE EVEN QUOTED US A PRICE IN 1998 THAT HE PRETTY MUCH STUCK TO WHEN WE FINALLY HAD HIM DO THE EXTENSIVE WORK IN 2001. HE'S CLEAN, PUNCTUAL, FUNNY, AND PROUD OF HIS WORK. FOR ALL FUTURE PLUMBING PROBLEMS, WE'LL BE CALLING OUR PLUMBER, DON CASSIDY.

MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. HE IS VERY HONEST, FUNNY, AND NICE. SMALL COMPANY; LIKES BIG JOBS.
