Atlas Asphalt & Sealcoat Services

This was a special deal through Angie's List and the provider. Offer said they would cover up to 800 square feet of driveway and 20 linear feet of crack sealant. When I asked the crew leader about cracks, he explained that the cracks in my driveway did not count as cracks to seal and only the 1 inch break between my asphalt driveway and the town's cement sidewalk counted as the types of cracks they meant in the estimate. But they did not fill that space which is about 8 feet across. It appeared that they were just rushing through the job because next time I looked out they were gone. The driveway did receive a seal coating. We have plants in garden areas along each side of the driveway and found that we were required to clean up residue of the sealant that overlapped into our garden area on each side. It appears that this residue (or perhaps heat from application) also killed some of our small plants. I would expect that they would have some way to protect against this. The estimate was written up with a price of $179.00 instead of the $200.00 paid to Angie's list and when I questioned the crew leader about this he suggested that I speak with someone from Angie's List. They indicated that the lower price was a previous special but issue us a credit for the difference.

I purchased an Angie's deal for the driveway seal. I bought the deal on 7/23 and the work was completed on 7/30. They were quick to respond and gave a date to complete work almost immediately (which was way sooner than I thought). The driveway looks a lot better! Now I'll just have to see how it holds up.

I originally purchased a "big deal" to have about 600 sq feet of asphalt sealed. During the estimate Atlas advised that it would be more cost-effective to expand the job to have the entire driveway area sealed. The price for the additional work quoted was in line withe the deal cost per sq foot. The job was scheduled a few weeks in advance and was contingent on the weather. The work crew arrived on the scheduled date. I recommend confirming the work scope with the crew before they start as they did not have the exact details upon arrival. They were courteous and efficient. The work was completed in a short time. Atlas provided detailed post-job instructions on how to care for the surface after the work was completed. They also addressed some questions I had. It was a good experience over all and I would recommend Atlas to those seeking sealcoating.

Overall pretty pleased with service. Initial quote was very quick and professional with detailed explanation of how to prepare and care for newly coated driveway. Coordination of time to perform coating wasn't quite so good. It would have been done more quickly except for voicemail left on home phone and no email asking if it could be done a day later... I was on vacation and didn't check home phone voicemail so couldn't respond and it was about 3 weeks later before the final work was coordinated. Very good job getting right up to but not overspraying onto house or brick garden edges. Not so good with white mailbox post which now needs painting, also not so good with grass as it did burn out edges past a couple of inches in some cases, though this of course will self repair in the spring.

They contacted me right away to set up a date to come out and look at my driveway. They came when they said they would and gave me what I thought was a very reasonable estimate. A date was set up for them to come out and do the work. I was out of town when it was done but when I returned the work was done, everything was cleaned up and the drive way looks great.

The guys came and did a nice job in a timely manner. My only complaint is that with the hot weather the sealed top was still pealing off many days after the seal coat was applied. The following weekend (well after the 72 hour drying recommendation) I left my car on the blacktop and when I drove away a big hunk of sealant was stuck to my tires. I can't say if this is a problem with the sealant that was used or the directions from the company on how long to avoid parking on it in the hot sun. Either way, it was potentially dangerous for me and left a mark on the driveway.

They took a long time to get back to me after my first email. I had a hard time getting information. The arrangement was more complicated than I realized because I learned that they needed two days with no cars on the drive, information not revealed in the deal until I bought it. I had to arrange with the town for parkers to park overnight and let all of the parkers know. The ground was wet in the AM. I had asked what was the plan if it rained but he never told me. No response that AM or all day despite phone calls and email. Still haven't heard from him 3 days later.

Considering the cost, it was a good job and a good deal. He was supposed to come some time around 3, when he came it was around 7-7:30. They said they were late due to traffic.

Everything went well. They did a good job for a competitive price.

I asked for extra crack service and was given a quote but not all cracks were done. When they came to evaluate the driveway and decide on price they first sent an estimate to tear up and redo the driveway (~$10,000). They agreed to do the cracks and figured out a per foot cost. They did come as scheduled and what they did was fine but not all cracks were filled in. I will be calling them to see what can be done.

Communication was instant at first, got a little more difficult as time went on (and newer potential customers made contact with him). This is a typical problem for clients in all kinds of projects. All in all, however, we are satisfied with Nate and his guys. They did a good job, at the time and date we had requested and at the agreed-upon price.

Went smoothly even though needed a few times of postponing due to the weather. They did inform us ahead of time that might happen. It was very nice to work with this company.

We were overall satisfied with the work, but see it as a temporary fix to what may need more extensive work. However as new homeowners the price for the service was right and is approximately what they expected. Provider was responsive and punctual. Concern grew after a few days because the driveway sealant appeared to be "melting" which left tire marks from the car into the driveway. No instructions were left telling us when the car could be moved back onto the driveway. Otherwise, I think they performed an adequate job.

Came on time and did neat job.

Company came out and provided an estimate that was 60% too high from a square footage perspective. Upon being alerted, they corrected the estimate. It took 3 weeks for the updated estimate. The work was completed 7 weeks after the estimate was revised. The seal on the driveway looks like it was applied neatly. Its too early to comment on the longevity of the seal. Update - 4/29/14 - The applied seal is gone in several spots on the driveway. I'm not sure how long it should last, but I assumed it would be longer than seven months. I contacted the company, but have yet to hear back.

A few days after I purchased the deal for seal coating from Angie's list, they contacted me to schedule an estimate and sent me the estimate soon after. Though I waited a few weeks before they contacted me to schedule the actual work, I think this is reasonable because they told me that it will take a while. They did an OK job with the seal coating. The problem is with the price. Even with the coupon from Angie's List, their price more than doubles what I paid last time.

On scheduled date Atlas called early to indicate they would not be able to make it that day - they called early to let us know early so as to not create an issue. They showed up promptly the next day and completed the job in a courteous and professional manner. Well worth it and would highly recommend.

I'm happy with the job. The initial contact was slow enough that I got nervous, but this was a "big deal", and I believe they got a bigger response than they planned on. Once we got in contact everything went great. It turned out that I had a bit more square footage than the 800 sq ft I'd paid for, but it was a pretty small balance, seemed fair. Nate got me the estimate when he said he would, and gave me some choices for the scheduled date, which I appreciated. There was one reschedule due to rain, which of course is not their fault. I had a conflict on the new date and I wasn't home when they came to do the work, but they finished and left everything neat and the result looks good. Anyone considering using Atlas should be aware that they use the spray stuff. I didn't read closely enough when I responded to the ad. I've never used the spray stuff before, always got the product that comes in buckets and gets spread around. I don't really know what to expect from this material but it looks great right now. Bottom line -- they are busy and doing their best to get everyone serviced before the cold weather sets in. I would recommend.

They charged my credit card in a timely manner, but never contacted me, and did not provide any service. UPDATE: They did a beautiful job and were courteous. It has only been a day since the job was completed, so whether it will last will be seen.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. It worked out fine. They were very efficient and they did extra things that they didn't have to do such as blowing the leaves off the sidewalk when he did the driveway. We didn't check out other places but we thought they were reasonable. They were definitely professional.

After some initial confusion as to the date when the sealcoating job was to be performed, once they arrived, they were professional and courteous and did a very good job of sealcoating the driveway as advertised and I am very satisified with the job they did. I even had them estimate another job I might want to have done on my patio in the future and should I decide to go ahead with that job, I would not hestitate to call them to also perform that job.

Signed up for the Angie's List deal in the morning; they showed up at our house an hour later, and tried to talk my wife into far more work than we wanted. She asked them to break out the additional work in a quote. Never got a quote. Two weeks later, they called and asked if they could come out that morning to do the work (which still hadn't been defined, not to mention that we were on our way out the door for a week's vacation).... I wound up doing some heavy patchwork to repair the driveway (since I still hadn't seen any info from them, and our dealings with them seemed shady -- as did the fact that the company seemed to have been sold just before the Angie's List deal was offered), so asked them to only repave, using our deal voucher. Wound up taking 2 months and several phone calls/emails to get a written contract and get them out to do the work -- which wound up looking fine, but nothing spectacular. No need for us to use these guys again.
