College Hunks Hauling Junk

First, I want to emphasize that my complaints are not against the actual movers, but their management overbooking them. I was given the window of 1pm-3pm during which the movers were supposed to show up. The movers did not show up until almost 4:30pm. I tried contacting the company 10 times throughout the day, constantly being sent to voicemail or that they would "tell the manager" on my behalf. I do not hear from the actual movers until they are ~5 minutes away from the apt. Then, because we were moving into the city, my girlfriend and I secured a parking permit, but because of them being so late, the parking permit expired by the time they got to the destination apt so I actually had to leave work early to make sure that no one took our spot. I then learned that they were late because they were so overbooked that day by their management. Also, being so late forced them to rush and be careless with our items, breaking a few in the process. I will never use this service again.

Two men, both super nice, made all the trips up to and down from the attic that we no longer can. No damage to walls at all even though both flights turn 180 degrees. The pricing is by percentage of the truck filled. They pack well, creatively. When the truck was half filled, they gave us the option to stop or continue. We filled the truck. They were incredibly efficient, super polite, a pleasure to deal with. I can’t compare the price to other firms, but for us it was money well spent. That they donate and recycle before disposing was a huge factor for us. Our only quarrel is the plastic-coated sign they left, that we cannot throw away in good conscience. I called the firm about getting it back to them for reuse, but have not heard anything.

These crooks low ball you on time and amount. They told us 5 hours. Then at 5.5 hours all our things in the truck the say we have to sign a waiver to unload the truck at the new house. 8hours later they charge me 3X the estimate. When I call to complain they said, "well you signed the waiver". Watch out for the bait and switch.

My two "College Hunks," Don and Frank, were utterly gracious, punctual, accommodating, articulate-- I would want my daughters to marry guys like these. They took a large sofa of ours to GoodWill---charity places like GoodWill can't pick up furniture donations anymore (understandably, with today's expenses and liabilities), and College Hunks are the perfect solution. Don't hesitate, use these guys. (They are very reasonable, too)

The Hunks were fantastic. They worked hard for several hours removing dusty, moldy, mouse poop and spider web covered items. They were friendly, personable and professional. Many items were in great shape and I am happy to know these will be donated. They called, emailed and texted to confirm and provide information.

Was quoted that it would be around $130 minimum truck load. Three nice young men came and said it was actually $250. They did do a good job: no floor or door scratches. They would have had an easier time of it with non-marking dollies and ramp for outside steps. They came within scheduled time and called before coming to confirm and let us know where they were. I would use them again, but would confirm price with local franchise before move next tIme. The owner was very easy to speak with. I Forgot to ask for my $10 senior discount, too.

The *hunks* were very professional, showed up on time, worked hard all day. They were efficient and pleasant. They started at 9:30 am and finished up at 4:30 pm. Needless to say this was the biggest job these hunks had ever tackled.

We called College Hunks, and they showed up just as scheduled. They were dressed nicely and behaved professionally. They had to haul hundreds of pounds of junk onto their truck. Some of it was heavy and smelly wet books, and other old things that had not been moved in years. They did not even mutter as they carried the disintegrating boxes up the steps to the truck, or moved two porches down the stairs to the truck. They also left a cupon for $10 off their next engagement. We will be using them again this year - it was worth the cost to know the trash was gone, and the recycleables were donated to good causes.

They were great. It is very easy to scheduled online. And they are one of the few junk removal company that actually donate items to charity and provide you as receipt. They are very efficient and careful and clean up after themselves. They called the night to confit perm and called 30 mins before they arrived. They were an hour late compared to the time they told me they would arrive but it was a rainy day and they explain that their previous job was bigger than they expect so it's ok.

I was specifically looking for a company to remove yard waste and found College Hunks online using google. I particularly appreciated the online scheduling feature. It gave me information regarding available appointment times and allowed me to book their first available appointment and receive immediate confirmation by email (after midnight!)

Overall, it was a great experience that was completed efficiently and professionally, even though the work that was required could be fairly described as unpleasant. Bill and Kevin were a pleasure to work with. They accommodated a last-minute schedule change that I requested, arrived exactly when they said they would, scoped out what had to be done, and got right to it. With remarkable cheerfulness and good humor, they braved an ancient set of steps, low ceilings, dampness, an ancient and uneven cellar floor, and a sizable load of nasty, yukky trash and junk, which required multiple trips up the steps and then to the truck for loading, and doing all this IN THE RAIN! And, to top it off, once they'd cleared the stuff out of the cellar, THEY SWEPT OUT THE CELLAR FLOOR! I was so impressed. When they left, the cellar was tidy and neat and visibly cleaner--a far cry from what it was before their hard work. And given what they accomplished, under challenging conditions, the price was more than reasonable.
