 + -1 moregreat experience. the owner is very knowledgeable on the subject and the time it took to fix was what was estimated. Has been working perfectly.
Description of Work: Needed a Gustav Becker clock from the early 1900's fixed. It had previously been taken to someone else who charged a lot more and didn't fix it properly.

 + -1 moreBob Frishman was entirely punctual and professional, and a pleasure to do business with. He met us in Maine to collect the works and other portions of the clock for testing and any necessary repairs, then met again at my son's house in Boston to reassemble it and instruct us in how to set the chimes and so on. We will continue to call on him as and if the clock needs attention. Worth every penny.

 + -1 moreThe overall experience was very good. He kept the clocks hung on his wall for over a week to make sure they were working correctly. He is very knowledgable and a collector of clocks. He even told us about a clock that was going up for auction that had the same name as our last name.
Description of Work: I had two clocks that were not working, he came to the house and picked them up, then called with an estimate.

 + -1 moreBob was responsive from the start. He responded to my initial email promptly and gave an approximate estimate over email, but stated that for a full assessment, I should bring the clock in. I brought it in and he had already pulled out his reference books on antique clocks of this maker and showed me approximately when it was made, and told me a little bit about the history of clock manufacture in Connecticut. He has a true passion for timepieces and we had a interesting conversation on what he would do and he declared that he could definitely fix it for the amount stated above. He said it would take about 4 weeks to do, but actually got back to me in two weeks saying it was ready. The clock now sits on my mantle and has kept perfect time since the day I brought it home. Not bad for a 88 year old mechanical wind up clock.
Description of Work: We brought our family's antique Gilbert mantle clock to be assessed and repaired. The clock was made in 1922 and no longer operated or chimed. The clock movement was completely disassembled, cleansed of old dry grease and oil, new bearings installed where applicable, repairs made to cracked gears, and put back together and bench tested. Note, that the exterior wooden case and clock face were not touched, just the movement. The clock now keeps perfect time and chimes as expected on the hour. Just wind it once a week and the thing keeps tickin'!!!! A great job for a fair price when you consider what was done. Now we have family heirloom that looks great and is operational.
