No problems at all. Very well done and would recommend them to others. They cleaned up well and everything works as expected. Price was competitive.
Description of Work: Install internal french drain along one wall of the basement and re-installed a sump pump which was incorrectly installed by a previous contractor.

The provider was prompt, and very responsive to the concerns of the client. The work area was cleaned and vacuumed at the end of each work day. The job lasted for approximately two weeks. I would give the provider an overall rating of B+ if this category existed. I would readily say that the finished product turned out very well. However, there are some areas that could have used a little more attention and care.
Description of Work: Eastern Waterproofing painted the walls (primer and two coats) and ceiling (primer and one coat) of a three-story entrance stairwell to a condominium, including repairing divits and small holes in the plaster, smoothing-out margins of the underlying wall paper, and skim-coating areas of the walls and ceiling with plaster. Additionally, the handrails, ballusters, newel posts and caps, stringers, and exposed treads of the oak staircase were scrub washed, dings and scratches sanded and touched-up with colored varnish, and a finish coat of varnish was applied to the staircase. The same work was performed on the four-foot high wainscoting which is located on floors one and two, as well as on the three unit doors, including some extra work on two of the wainscoting panels that were partially covered in silver radiator paint. Finally, one of the unit doors required further work to remove the old finish, prior to restaining and varnishing.

It went smoothly - it couldn't have been a better experience. Right on time and on budget. Steve supplied the scaffolding and tarps, and did not harm any of my bushes. He even went to the library to research the appropriate shade of green for the window frames (for a house of that period). He was able to exactly match the color of the lime mortar. He even removed the birds' nest that he found in the cavity of the wall. Steve gave me a quick education about how to safeguard my house from the elements. Can't give him enough kudos. I am very guilty of writing a very belated review...
Description of Work: Scraping and re-pointing of an 1887 brick house, which had weathered poorly, and allowed dampness to invade our house. Scraping and painting of all the window casings (some birds had squeezed through the cracks), letting in even more water. Re-directing gutter system, which also was a source of water on the lower level.

I hired Steve due to his expertise with waterproofing and masonry and I am grateful for his having been able to fix the water problem with use of proper materials and craftsmanship. Unfortunately, he was quite slow with providing the estimate which required several phone calls. I did appreciate his responsiveness to my requests during the job and his attention to detail with the final presentation.

They didn’t charge me a lot for their services. They were very good. I got some other wild bids and theirs was the best. I would recommend them to the others. Overall the job they did went pretty well. Their responsiveness was very good. They are problem solvers. So when other things came up, they totally talked about it and they fixed it. It was a very good experience. I will use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Eastern Waterproofing Co. I last used their services about a month or six weeks ago. They did a major job in the basement and they came back and did another drywall. They also put in a French drain for me and they did the drywall on the other side.

He is very nice and very low key. My friend liked him the best too. He is really good. He really took his time to come and do the estimate. He said he would be coming sometime that week. He called and showed up the same morning he called a couple of days later. We felt that his approach was very rational. It wasn’t like coming in and having to do everything. He basically said some things needed to be done, and we sort of agreed with him. He told us about how things should to be changed because we had to have some things changed. We didn’t know that it was illegal to have water from our basement go in to the drainage system. Somebody did that years and years ago. The later ones don’t do that anymore, so he made some very rational and cost effective suggestions. It is what we liked about him. It took him 2 or 3 calls to get him out here to get an estimate, but the other people came out really quickly. He is sort of low key. He didn’t answer our phone calls and we preserved. However, we liked his overall approach. He said he would get back to us. He did get back to us in a timely way about the estimate. He listed it all. He really spent time and itemized it, which gives us a sense of confidence. We felt like he really knows his work. We had a confidence in him about his work.

I asked for an estimate. The principal called me three times to confirm the appointment. He showed up and took over an hour of my time to look at my basement. He said he would send an estimate and did not. After about two weeks, he called and asked if I still wanted an estimate, and I said, "yes." No estimate ever came. I left a message on his voice mail. He never called back or acknowledged my call in any way. If he did not have the time or inclination to take on the job, he should not have wasted my time.

Wonderful service, very reasonable pricing. Before I called Eastern Waterproofing I obtained estimates from two big basement waterproofing companies. Both companies sent inexperienced sales reps who briefly looked at my basement and announced that waterproofing would cost at least 10,000, regardless of whether I wanted to finish my basement (I don't). Steve from Eastern Waterproofing spent much more time studying my basement and roof gutters. We worked out a waterproofing solution that would prevent flooding, keep things clean and protect our heating system for a much more reasonable price. He also did some minor repairs of cracks in the foundation and a great cleaning job. He and his workers were polite and friendly. He is clearly very experienced.
Description of Work: Cleaned and waterproofed basement, re-dug old french drain and replaced it with new drain, new sump pump, repair of cracks in foundation, removal of old lath, cut and seal up old, unused oil pipes.

Steven Lewis was very prompt in all his responses, calling back the next day and arriving at the time he predicted. He and his assistant worked steadily and conscientiously to complete the work. The work around the bulkhead was satisfactory, but the barrier across the path had to be redone, as it didn't block the water as well as expected. Mr. Lewis was very prompt and responsive and returned within a couple of days after we reported the problems. He carefully built up a new barrier and filled in a hole that appeared at the bulkhead where the Perma-Patch barrier had settled a few days after the first work.
Description of Work: Several repairs were made to deal with major leaks in basement: Downspout and gutter installed by previous company modified to stop water from pouring off the roof into puddle by garage Eroded soil filled in around stairs to bulkhead and covered with Perma-Patch and Portland cement Barrier across path to basement bulkhead built to shunt water away from basement onto lawn

Steve was friendly and responsive and honest. It ended up being a little more expensive than I thought, but the scope of the work also expanded a little. The stairs weren't put back perfectly, but in some respects are better than they were before, so I'm fine with it. Very trustworthy, I plan on using Eastern Waterproofing again.
Description of Work: I found some spots in my basement where it was clear water would soon start leaking in. It turned out that the pointing had disappeared on one section of the foundation, so Steve repointed that area and coated with cement on the exterior, then created a sill on another exterior wall where my foundation met the sidewalk, so that water wouldn't leak in there either. The repointing necessitated pulling off my back porch stairs to get to the bricks -- which had never been stuccoed and so water was just going right through the bricks into the wall.

They were very quick to arrive. They first did the gutters, then tested the basement for leaks and found a lot. They then dug a huge hole in the lawn to seal the outside wall of the basement. The work involved three men and took about a week. The style is quite rough and ready but serviceable and they gave me a 10 year warranty on the work.
Description of Work: Waterproofed a basement which flooded with about 3 inches of water during the February storms. This involved repairing gutters, testing where the basements was leaking, re-pointing walls of basement (a major task since the walls were near disintegration in some places and the foundations were underground so a lot of digging was involved) and covering them with concrete seal. Patching various other spots where leaks might come in (woodwork, concrete bases for rotten posts).

No one could figure out why our finished basement was flooding during heavy rains. Steve removed the leader and downspout and found out that not only was the downspout filled with old tennis balls (how did that happen?), but he pointed out the fact that the origin of the water was racing on a incremental slope to the basement, than to a clogged underground pipe. Rather than excavate the underground line (which would have cost us lots more), he disassembled the entire 30 feet, from the roof to the basement, provided more appropriate pieces, painted everything, and did a great job cleaning-up after his work.
Description of Work: Steve replaced and re-engineered the gutter leaders - re-routing the way in which the rain water fell, relative to our home.

After a big snow/rain storm, water was leaking through a window sill in our finished basement, soaking the carpet and damaging a section of wallpaper. We panicked, they arrived the following morning. Problem solved within a week. Steve is thoughtful, thorough, and honest. I hope this will be the last time we need him for water in the basement, but he's the one we will call for future problems.

Steven has done a number of jobs around our house and has become our go-to guy for any problems involving water leaks. His team came out immediately (on Christmas Eve!) to inspect the roof after we noticed water stains in our master bedroom ceiling. They took their time installing the roof wire in order to get the proper materials, but then had it done in two days.

This is a small and friendly business. Steve Luis (owner) ran some tests before making a recommendation, which was definitely helpful. A few more issues with our foundations became visible only after starting the initial work. Steve kept us updated at all times. I felt that he was honest and responsive, and could be trusted to choose sensible solutions. As a result, we decided to go in for a larger job than originally envisaged, but I don't regret that at all, and feel that I got my money's worth. Once the work got started, it proceeded rapidly and with few interruptions.

I had a to call a couple times to get them to call me back. He came and he was really nice and seemed experienced. Initially he estimated $1000 for what is a kind of big job. Meantime, I got another estimate from Ronchetti-- this guy gave a more professional appearance, but also quoted $2000. Steve came when he said, did the job when he said he would. He ran into an unforeseen problem with one of the existing cinder block and had to add $150 to the cost. I still thought the cost was pretty cheap. He did say he'd cement over some peeling cement in the stairwell (very small area, like the area of one brick) while he was there, but never did. I asked if he'd add on some pointing in my basement if he could and he said he could do that, but ended up not doing it.
Description of Work: I had had water leaking in through my bulkhead, which was flush with the ground. Steve, the guy, poured a cement footing and raised the whole thing up.

The sellers of my new house had been hiding a basement leak with coats of paint. After Eastern solved the water problem, they tackled the interior of the lower level bedroom. Steven recommended paintable wallpaper to hide the irregularities in the foundation wall. The entire job took about five days and with the help of Steven's brother who is a wallpaper guy, the room looks beautiful.

After finding out that our "new house" had unsealed windows, numerous leaks, and a room in the basement that collected water with every storm, I needed a guy who does it all. Luckily I found Steven's team. They were here almost every days for weeks, always polite and professional. Steven really let the house dictate the work and even spoke with my exterior siding inspector to make everything right. In the end, Eastern did a lot more than the original job and made the whole house feel more secure and look better. We have since hired Eastern for other work and recommended his team to friends.
Description of Work: Steve solved my leaky basement corner problem, sealed every window and door on the house, re-pitched or replaced improperly installed gutters (and cleaned them), sealed numerous breaks in the stucco exterior and painted the front of my house.
