Description of Work: Our 30-year-old GE refrigerator sounded like the motor was running excessively, while the temperatures in the freezer and refrigerator were gradually declining. When the repairman, "Dave," arrived, we discussed the merits of repairing versus replacing the old appliance. He inspected the appliance, and concluded that the fan needed replacement. If the compressor suffered no damage from over-heating (due to a faulty cooling fan), that repair should be sufficient. The compressor continued to function as it should, the temperatures dropped in both the freezer and refrigerator, and we were able to postpone the expensive replacement of our refrigerator. Dave is an excellent service technician who presented the options in a logical, understandable manner. Great experience!!

Description of Work: Super nice, professional with great advice in addition to fixing washer. Washer making clanking noise. Checked it and said one shock had come loose, just quickly fixed. Commented that we had good steel shocks and they should be fine. Also suggested that shock absorber came loose because of unbalanced load. Showed me how to keep load balanced. Very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and got along with dogs!

 + -1 moreThe washing machine wouldn't spin. We didn't know if the machine just was done or if there was a replaceable part. The gentleman came in and he was very nice. He checked the machine and said it was a repairable part. He had it with him so he could do it the same day. They were very good. It's my understanding that they don't do too much through general advertising so I wouldn't have found them in my local phone book. They do everything through referral because they get such good business that way. The price was fair. We did pay for the service because that was what I would have guessed and it was what he gave a rough estimate for.

 + -1 moreVery Professional. Jon returned our initial call within 1/2 hour. Set up a two hour window for the next morning and he arrived right on time. He is very knowledgeable and spent the extra time to explain just what was wrong and the typical causes for the heater element failure. He did have the part on the truck and was able to replace it. Thank goodness - didn't want to be without the dryer another day. We also had some questions on our dishwater and water filter for the refrigerator. He spent the extra time providing us with the information although he was not performing the work on either appliance. I would highly recommend him to my family, friends and anyone who is looking for a fair price and work that is done properly.

My only complaint is that John told me it was not worth-while to replace the belt. I did this myself the next day, and the machine performed OK with new belt. It is a temporary fix which will give us time to replace our obsolete machine. We plan to buy a Frigidaire GLEH1642FS
Description of Work: diagnosed problem with white/westinghouse stacked washer and dryer "laundry center" motor bearing failing. No replacement part available for 17 year-old machine we paid $55 service call fee.

 + -1 moreMy tenant called to say oven on gas range was not working. I called Family Appliance on 9/10 and told them to contact tenant for greater detail of problem and to arrange time for repair. I said that safety, of course, was the most important matter! We agreed that if the repair amount was more than Tenant was comfortable paying (to be reimbursed by me) then he would be fine with sending me the bill. Also, if the repair would cost more than $200.00, he would call to discuss. They contacted my tenant and was able to fix it on the same day. Tenant was very pleased with quick response! And I was delighted by his accommodating landlord/tenant status.
Description of Work: Gas range was not working. Defective parts replaced quickly and efficiently. Waiting for tenant to send receipt for greater detail.

He explained the problem, was very personable, and said the work was guaranteed for a year. This saved me the purchase of a new refrigerator.

 + -1 moreMy washing machine agitator was not turning, but it put water in, and the spin cycle worked. John came with all the parts he needed, and explained exactly what he was doing, and fixed it very quickly. He also pointed out some things that were not up to code, and I decided I wanted them fixed. (Old rubber hoses that were wearing out, plastic dryer exhaust vent that was old and starting to crack, replaced by metal one) He gave me an extimate that I agreed upon, and when I asked about my dishwasher, he attached a hose with a clamp for no extra charge. Also advised me on appliance brands that I was thinking abourt buying. He was very personable, and informative. I was very pleased
Description of Work: Replaced wiring and belts that turn the agitator, replaced rubber hoses, and dryer exhaust hose, the large one. Made a connection of hoses on my dishwasher.
