The serviceman from Family Appliances was able to respond quickly when I called for service. He looked at ouur dishwasher and told us that the control panel needed to be replaced and that theywould order the part(s). The parts withen a couple of days and they returned to complete the job. The service was prompt, friendly and professional.

I checked Angie's List for the best repair service when my dryer stopped working.They were quick to respond and the job was done.

Dishwasher door suddenly started dropping like a stone. I found Family Appliance on Angie's List and noted that they had many reviews and had an A rating, My call was taken immediately by a company operator, asking for detailed questions about the problem. John called within two hours and set up a time and told me about service call prices and that if parts had to be ordered, I would not have to pay a service call for the follow-up delivery. All the information was very up-front. He arrived on the day stated, during the appropriate time-frame previously scheduled, and couldn't have been nicer. He explained my door cable had broken, showed me the broken piece, explained why he thinks the cable broke, replaced it, and checked the other cable to make sure it was it good order. He thanked me for my business, reminded me of the various appliances that his company repairs, and was on his way in short order. I couldn't have been more pleased. I took several business cards to give to friends who often look to me for references of this type.

The cord that keeps the door on the dishwasher from just falling down, was broken. Our refrigerator was leaking. My husband called a repair man who advertised in the Reminder. He came, pulled the broken cord out of the door on the dishwasher checked the frig and said it needed a major part, I should buy a new frig (my refrgerator is only 7 years old and quite expensive) gave me a bill for $75 and said he would be back with the part for the dishwasher. He has never come back. I looked on Angies List, found Family Appliance and called them. They called me right back, made an appointment for the next morning. They came right on schedule. He checked the dishwasher, said he had the part in the truck. He checked the refrigerator, found that the hose for the ice maker was broken and that is where all the water was coming from. Also, the cooling fan had stopped working. Checked the price on his computer ordered the part and came back in 2 days to put it in. Everything is working fine. What a pleaasure to do business with and what a relief to find people that you can trust.

Overall, we were extremely pleased with this repair and the pleasant, honest manner of the owner. We wouldn't hesitate to call this company again!

They got me scheduled quickly. He came right on time and diagnosed the problem, he actually had the parts in his van and got it taken care of right away. The parts he used were actually better than the orignial factory parts, the original parts were plastic and the new ones were metal and nylon, which should last longer. The technician was very knowledgeable about the work being done and he explained to me in detail what he was doing.

The service was fantastic. John was professional, courteous, punctual, competent, and went out of his way to explain everything. He was gracious throughout. The work is also guaranteed, so when our burner stopped working again, he made arrangements to come back and fix it without cost. Highly recommended!

The oven of my old Kelvinator electric stove stopped working. I contacted Family Appliance because of their rave reviews on Angie's and had the same great experience. John quickly ascertained the problem and found that a wire had shorted out. He replaced the wire and tested the oven temperature for accuracy. I am delighted to get my oven back and will definitely use his services again whenever the need arises.

I was very happy with the service provided by Family Appliance. John took the time to explain the problem and made sure that the oven calibrated correctly after he replaced the ignitor. I know that if I have appliance issues in the future, I will definitely call Family Appliance.

Things in the refrigerator side of my side-by-side refrigerator/freezer were not as cold as they should be, and turning the controls to "colder" a day earlier didn't help. When I measured the temperature and found it to be 55 degrees, I knew something had to be done fairly quickly, or food would spoil soon, as tomorrow would be another 99-degree day. It being a Sears/Kenmore appliance, I called them first and, after spending a while on hold, got through to schedule a service call ASAP, which was to be tomorrow -- not unreasonable, as it was already 7:45pm. And then came the up-sell to their "home improvement" dept to schedule a free consultation for remodeling projects I might be thinking about. While on hold waiting for a sales rep, I thought to check Angie's List on line for refrigerator repair, and found Family Appliance Service. I called them on the other line and got the answering service, and explained the urgency. John Hastings, the Family Appliance proprietor called back 8 minutes later (according to cell phone log) and said he could be here in half an hour. Done deal! Now to call Sears back and cancel, or rather be put on hold. John arrived and had the refrigerator fixed by 9pm (it was an ice-jammed damper door), even with taking time to "talk shop" about other repair jobs -- well before I got through to Sears to cancel! He showed me everything he was doing and explained why at each step to this appreciative retired engineer. Talk about great service! Family Appliance Service LLC has my business for all such appliance service and repair for the foreseeable future.

This was a great experience. Very professional, very understanding of the situation. After explaining the problem he helped me make a good choice. Keep and repair or purchase a new one with a recommendation. At that point he choose to not charge, which I was very grateful for. I will certainly recommend and use his services again.

Very good experience with Family Appliance. Was available in 2 days but indicated if it was an emergency he could come sooner. Evaluated the problem, gave me an estimate before actually performing the work and had the parts in his truck. Turned out to be the water pump which for Maytags are pricey. He made that clear but assured me once it was fixed I should get a reasonable amount of life out of the machine going forward. Would recommend them to friends.

Diagnosed problem for both appliances. Repaired washer after telling me what it needed for repair before doing any of the work. Told us the price for repair asclose as possible. Advised me what to do to avoid lint from collecting again.

We were seriously thinking we would have to buy a new washer ... Having priced a new washer decided to check out the cost of repair as the washer was not that old. We checked out Angies list and found Family Appliance and read the feedback and were very impressed. I called and my call was returned promptly and courteously . The repair date was set service tech came as scheduled very friendly , quick and efficient . We will be recommending Family Appliance to friends and family ..... A+

The over-all experience was top notch. I was practically experiencing an anxiety attack thinking about where I was going to get money for a new dishwasher. He was so kind and reassuring that it mad me feel that I had been treated with dignity. You hear all these stories about how repair,installation,ect. "handymen' come into the house of a single woman and see it is a chance to boost fees or overcharge for something that may have been far less.My experience with Family Service was so not that and they will always have mt gratitude.. They will be the first people I call should any other propblem arises and I will Feel Comfortable refering them to a friend,relative,or colleague.

Our freezer, purchased at Sears, began not to freeze, but to refrigerate and thaw the food inside it. I called Sears on 09/20/2011 for service and Sears gave me an 09/29/2011 date for service, which would have meant spoilage for over 200 pounds of food. I called a Sears Supervisor and waited twenty minutes on the phone with no one answering. While I was waiting on the phone for a Sears Supervisor, Family Appliance came to mind. I called, and was told that a Technician would be at my home between 6:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. tonight. Mr. Hastings himself arrived a bit after 7:00 P.M., and in a workmanlike manner diagnosed and fixed the problem, hopefully saving much of our food. The price was more than reasonable..Go with this GUY!!!!!!!!!.. Totally recommended!!!!!

He was very professional. The guy is super knowledgeable and great to deal with. He is really good at what he does. I recommend him to everyone. He is super.

I received prompt service. John came when he said he would, which was an excellent start! He explained everything that he had to do to repair my machine. He had all the necessary parts with him, which was a nice surprise, and had my machine running right away. I was very happy with the repair, the courtesy I received, and the no-nonsense approach to the whole enterprise. I will call again!

Contacted company by email over the weekend. Received an email on Monday. Contacted company. Spoke to answering service. John called me less than an hour later. Came to the house on Friday. Very polite and professional. Fixed the fridge in less than an hour. Excellent service!

I selected Family Appliance based on good reviews on Angie's list; I am glad that I did. As indicated by others, John responded to my call promptly, came to diagnose the problem within a day or two, and once the parts were received, they were installed the next day. John was professional, personable and knowledgeable. I would most definitely use Family Appliance in the future and highly recommend their service to others.

The immediate problem was that the machine wouldn't fill with water. John quickly diagnosed the problem was a faulty pressure valve. He explained that pressure valves rarely fail and so he doesn't stock them on his truck. Before he left the house, however, he had found out that five were available in various warehouses in the U.S., and that the nearest was in Louisville KY. He ordered the part and had it installed as quickly as humanely possible. He also checked the machine in general, replaced a belt, and provided much good information about how to avoid problems in the future. The price was mostly for the part, as the work was quickly. He quoted a total price before ordering the part, and the final price matched. I was very impressed with his service in all ways.

For lack of a better place to call, I made an appointment with Sears to repair my dishwasher, as much as I dislike the company for services. A couple days before the appointment I got a discount offer from Angie's list, joined, and found Family Appliance repair. I called, and he said he could come the next day which was excellent, so I cancelled the Sears appt. Just as all the other reviews say, he was very professional, knowledgeable, prompt, and reasonable cost. He found that the cause was too much soap which caused the washer not to rinse well because it was inundated with suds. While he was there, I had him do some preventative maintenance on the dishwasher - replacing the fill valve which he recommended. Overall, excellent service and still lower cost than sears would have been, including the $50 valve which was not part of the immediate problem. A+, I will not be using any other appliance repair business in the future.
