It was an older Maytag dryer and we were not sure if we should spend the money or get a new one. John assured us that if we fixed it, it should last another 10 to 12 years. It works fine now, and we hope to have it for 10 years at least. He seemed very knowledgeable and we believed him partly because of his good reputation on this site. He had given us a time frame for when he would arrive and told us he would try to get there as early in the time given as he could. He actually showed up a little early. He was pleasant and professional.

These appliances are over 12 years old and he had ALL the parts, ON THE TRUCK ! No call back, runaround, etc. Absolutely A++ !!!

Family Appliance gave me a two hour window for when then would arrive at my house, and they arrived first thing during the agreed-upon appointment window. After briefing Jon on the issue, he quickly identified not only the problem which caused the overfilling of the washer, but also the underlying problem that caused the pressure switch to fail. After correcting the issue with the pressure switch and replacing the original drive belt from 13 years ago, he inspected my washer for other problems while he was there, and finding none, he promptly reassembled and reconnected the washing machine. Terrific service, very knowledgeable, and I'm glad to be supporting another local business. I would definitely call them again if another problem arose.

I called to make an appointment and within 1/2 hour, I received a call back from John. We scheduled an appointment for 6/14 which was a week after I called. Arrival was to be between 12 and 4pm. I received a call around 45 minutes early asking me if it was OK to arrive earlier. John and his assistant arrived 15 minutes later. John was extremely pleasant and professional. He took a look at the washing machine and immediately diagnosed the problem. He recommended that I not waste the money to fix it, which would have been about $500 between the parts and labor and just to use it until I could get some money together for a new one. He made some recommendations and told me to call him when I was ready to buy. I found him to be honest and very humble; which is difficult to find in this day and age. He refused to charge me because he didn't have to do anything and wouldn't even take money for gas. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for appliance repair. Our decision was: repair an expensive refrigerator or buy a cheap replacement. So far, we are very happy with our decision to repair.

I called Dave to fix my mother's appliances. He was prompt, friendly and fixed them at a reasonable cost.

I found the vendor via Angie's list, calliing several local vendors based on best reviews. This vendor was the only one who said they could stop by my house within 2 hours. They arrived promptly and quickly diagnosed the problem, which was related to a failed air circulating fan. He was able to install the required part and get my refrigerator back to normal within an hour. I am happy with the vendor and with Angie's list. The only concern I had was the way the vendor was listed. There are 2 listings for this vendor, the "FAMILY APPLIANCE SERVICE LLC" listed in this reviw, and another with a more local address nearer my home which appeared to be a less official name of the service provider.

The gentlemen came in and observed the smoke coming out of the oven. They pulled the stove out and checked the electrical wires and looked for unusual activity. There was none. They proceeded to check all parts of the oven and concluded that the smoke came from excess grease from under the racks and a silicone mat that was old. They were very courteous and professional and provided us with helpful tips and suggestions on new appliances if needed. They also mentioned that they would come out again for no charge if this condition repeated itself.

I called on 04/29/13 and explained what the freezer was doing. They said they could get there the next day 4/30/13 between 3 and 6. As usual they where here and fixed my freezer. I would NEVER use any other appliance repairman. Family is the BEST.

I contacted Angie's list to find an appliance repair person. I joined Angie's list via a phone call and received help selecting the repair service. The service provided by Family Appliance was excellent.

Owner came to home within 48 hours of call, and diagnosed problem with cold control. Three days later, returned to replace cold contol -- no charge for return visit. Explained that Whirlpool requires their own cold control; could not use a generic one. Three days later, same symptom. Cold water spigot stopped working again. Owner returned within 24 hours, used laser thermometer to show that refrigerator was still way too cold. Told us the only possibility was that the cold control he had replaced was defective. No visit charge. Ordered new control, but went on back order from Whirlpool. Took nearly a month for new cold control to come in, during which time no contact from Family Apppliance, in spite of our numerous calls. Cold control finally came in and was replaced again free of charge. Many apologies for communications failures. Still working 10 days later.

Our refrigerator was not cooling so I called John at Family Appliance. He returned my call within 10 minutes, and offered to come right away. I didn't think it was an emergency so we made an appointment for the next business day. They called when they were on their way. They figured out the problem quickly. The fan motor behind the freezer back wall had stopped working. The problem was actually caused by 2 Whirlpool design flaws. So they fixed that by installing a drain heater kit, as well as the new fan motor assembly. But the next day the refrigerator was still not cooling, so I called back. They came right away. They had defrosted the drain pipe, but it still had ice further down. Probably our fault for not calling for service sooner. There was no charge for the second service call. They stayed until they were able to remove all the ice. They explained that this is not the usual case. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. I liked that they explained in detail everything that they did, and offered advice. They also cleaned up everything when they were done. I was very impressed and would definitely call them again. This is the company to call for all appliance repair!

My stove wasn't heating properly and Family Appliance Service LLC came out with another guy, he looked at it and he heated it up and said there was nothing wrong with the stove. I hadn't used the oven in a while and I paid him and he said there was nothing wrong with it and then I went to back and after it got to a certain temperature, it got really loud and it wouldn't stop until I turned it off. I couldn't tell him that but he could have checked a little better because I felt like I just lost USD 75 for nothing. Their price was about the same as if I would have called sears which is next door to me. I mean USD 75 for coming and me being in your space because anything else would have cost more. If he would have waited a little longer, then it would have started beeping. I read all the references and he had good references except one person who was not happy with him but you just look at the overall score. He was just glad to say it is okay and take the money and leave. He called back pretty quickly so he was responsive. He was going to be late when coming out so he called me. I guess if I called them again I would let them know that I was not happy the first time so it is a maybe I would use them in the future.

I called and advised that my refrigerator had stopped cooling and freezer food was defrosting. They couldn't come that day but fitted me in for noon the next day and showed up promptly on time. John, the owner, identified that the problem was the fan motor and had the necessary replacement part in his truck so was able to quickly put the frig back in working condition. This frig is over 30 years old and I was thrilled that he had the needed part (which is a USA Westinghouse factory made part) and was able to so quickly get it back in running condition at such a reasonable price. This is the second time I've used them and couldn't be happier with them.

They kept looking for the part but were never able to locate one.

The repairman that came was very professional and knew what he was doing. I was impressed with the fact that he put covers on his shoes because of the wet weather outside. Very clean and efficient. Very happy with Family Appliance Service.

I would highly recommend Family Appliance for refridgerator repair. John was excellent, very professional, prompt, honest, he explained the service needed in detail, set the appropriate expectation, he cleaned-up after the service was complete, etc. Although the total cost was a little more then I wanted to spend (really because of the part needed for the repair), I was extremely pleased with the entire experience.

Called the Service... The owner appeared at the time promised, surveyed a situation of a freezer not cooling. He suggested a remedy which might not have worked, but he thought worth the try. He infused the freezer with new refrigerant, and the appliance has been working well since. Knock on wood. Would call again.

They were on time,courteous,neat and the job done perfectly.What more can you ask for and it was New Year's Eve.

They did a very professional job. It wasn't a huge production. They showed up, did their job, and left. They were polite, explained what had happened and what to look for if it should ever happen again. No drama. No egos. Just a good job.

This is the second time we've had Family Appliance to the house because we liked them so much the first time. This time we've been having trouble with a 2-year old humidifier attached to our furnace. When it didn't start again this year, I called John. Out he came, and after listening to my list of troubles and what had been done in the past, he suggested that the transformer (? I don't recall what it was), although the correct size, was not adequate for this machine. He suggested I replace it with a larger one, and the humidifier has been working flawlessly since.
