Dan at Still Rivers Home Inspection was very responsive and knowledgeable explaining everything about the house and house function while we walked around for the inspection. His extensive knowledge and expertise comes through as he told me the signals he was looking for and what we saw and what we can conclude and cannot conclude. He was punctual in the inspection and the report following and provided a very detailed/comprehensive report. Overall - I would strongly recommend Dan and will be going back to him if I need another inspection any time soon.

I am very glad that I went with Still River for the inspection of our new home. Dan systematically went through the home and in addition to testing all major systems and noting anything out of place and what it might imply about the history of the home, he gave me excellent advice about how to enhance the safety and maintain the condition of my new home. The report Dan wrote for us has annotated illustrations to make it perfectly clear even many months later exactly what he was referring to, and is color coded and has summaries in the back to make it easy to prioritize issues. This is going to be invaluable for planning for repairs and maintenance! Dan is thorough. He caught several pages worth of safety issues alone! Were the market different I would be well armed for negotiations with the seller. As it is, Dan has given me a clear picture of what the major risks are in purchasing this home and I am asking questions and calling in additional help to address them.

2nd Time using Dan, We were ready to sign P&S on a property a few weeks ago and had Dan do the Inspection he was so thorough and brought a few major problems as well as many small problems to my attention, after weighing pros and cons I decided to walk from property and luckily found a new place. After his excellent work the first time I re hired him today and I and very happy with the job he did. If your looking for a thorough detailed inspection look no further, you will not be disappointed with Dan’s outstanding work ethic. A+++

Dan was awesome, very thorough inspection, he took the time to explain all problems and even how everything operated, he made sure I knew what he was talking about, and finished report was detailed to include photos pointing out concerns.

Very detail oriented and easy to comunicate with I spent an entire morning inspecting and reviewing every single aspect of my new home, and he help me to clearly understand the issues, provide a well detailed explanation and finally summarize the list of issues. Dan showed up to the inspection before we did and walked us through the entire place, inside and out. He was extremely thorough and helpful when we had questions, and provided a complete report the same day. Due to heavy snow he was unable to inspect the roof that day, but revisited the property later that week and gave us an updated report.

Dan provided the most thorough, informative and helpful home inspection that we've ever seen, far more useful than inspections conducted for our previous home purchases. He arrived before our scheduled appointment, and had already thoroughly checked the exterior and grounds. As we went through the house, he pointed out various issues and provided a wealth of useful information, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the structure and systems of old houses. His written report was thorough, and included photos illustrating all the topics discussed. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Dan did an incredible job. He was very thorough and took the time to walk us through everything - even things we never would have asked about before. The entire thing took about 5 hours - and then the next day he sent a 70 page report complete with pictures and categorized issues. We'll definitely be using him again if we ever need a home inspector!

I learned a great deal during the inspection process, watching him open up the mechanicals and examining every inch of the condo. It was very thorough and I have confidence that all is well with the property. The report was detailed and recommended future actions, such as replacing the old hot water heater. It'll be a good reference tool.

Dan is one of the most professional and competent home inspectors I have dealt with. He is meticulous; he insists that the buyer accompany him on the inspection while he looks and reports on each item of concern. His report was highly detailed and each issue had an accompanying photograph for documentation. We have hired Dan twice for two separate home inspections. The first inspection was in 2014 and he was so meticulous that we asked him to inspect another house in September 2018. Both inspections were complete and extensive. Dan is the Sherlock Holmes of inspectors. Nothing goes unnoticed. The reports we received post inspection are the most detailed we’ve ever seen. We refer to them often. He really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with.

Dan was awesome! He was very responsive and was able to accommodate us quickly. He provided a very extensive and detailed report (with pictures for documentation). We live out of state and we were not able to attend the inspection, but Dan spent several hours on the phone with us outlining his findings and answering all of our questions. He went out of his way to address all of our concerns, and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We would definitely hire Dan again in the future!

If you are looking for the the best inspector as a buyer, Dan is your man Dan did 3 home inspections for me. On all three occasions, he arrived earlier than the appointed time, had done an overall look over of the outside of the properties and had a plan as to how he would proceed. Upon meeting Dan, I was immediate;y struck by his calm attitude and organized plan. On all 3 occasions, both my agent and the sellers agent were present. Dan was very straightforward about identifying and disclosing the work that needed to be done, explaining what was wrong and various ways to deal with the problem(s) identified. I accompanied him every step of the way, and he consistently delivered information in an absolutely levelheaded and uncomplicated way. I especially appreciated his taking the time to do this as many previous experiences with contractors of various kinds were highly negligent in this aspect. I know this review sounds too good to be true, but I assure you, you will not be disappointed. Dan is an individual of the highest integrity. Dan for president!

Dan Jones, at Still River Home Inspections, is exceptional on numerous fronts. First, he is extremely knowledgeable about home inspection and thorough in his examination of houses; his experience and talent were clearly evident during inspection of the home. He is also an excellent and patient teacher; he very generously took time to explain his findings about the home as well as potential solutions for problems that he identified. During my time with him, I learned a lot about the house and about home repair and construction in general; he made it fun, too! We received a clear and extensive written report on the very same day as the inspection, with major, minor and safety issues delineated, and suggested solutions for redress. He also included many "for your information" items, such as locations of main shut-off valves and other helpful items that will no doubt save us time and trouble if there is ever any kind of issue with a home system; his report has been archived as a reference for future use. I have worked with numerous inspectors over my years of home ownership and Dan Jones is head and shoulders above anyone else with whom I've worked (and I've worked with several excellent inspectors). I recommend him highly, enthusiastically and without reservation.

Dan is fantastic! We had him inspect two homes. He was extremely thorough and took the time to explain what he was looking for and why. We learned a lot from following him around and asking questions. We know so much more about our house now because of him. It's well worth your time and effort to hire Dan. Keep your ears and eyes open and wear good shoes - there'll be a lot to take in. The followup was superb as well. We received a detailed list of the inspection along with photos of each item in it. It helped us decide what to go back to the sellers with and what to let go. We've also used it as a guide to send to contractors on what we need them to address once we close. The detail that Dan put into each section made it easy to hand this off to others without a lot of questions back. During a stressful time with moving priorities and trying to line people up, this tool was invaluable to us. Dan does a wonderful job and we highly recommend his services. You won't regret hiring him. There's no one better.

The inspection took longer than the 3-3.5 hours expected, but that was partly our fault as we had many questions and wanted to discuss possible solutions. Our report will guide us through the next few years, and we now feel confident that we know the condition of our home. There will be no surprises when we are ready to sell. We have a written report to remind us of what we learned and how to prioritize the tasks.
