Chris Giallongo of Genesis Landscaping Acton MA did our snow plowing one winter. He tore up our yard a fair bit on both sides of the driveway. This had never happened before in the 15 years that we had the driveway plowed. our yard and driveway are relatively flat and those plowing before Chris had never had a problem with pushing the snow off of the driveway. We chose Chris because a neighbor was using him. In the spring I called Chris since I knew he was also a landscaper and told him the yard was torn up. I asked, since he was a landscaper, if he would come give an estimate on fixing the yard and perhaps give us a discount since his plow tore it up. I was willing to pay but thought he might be willing to discount. He tersely responded to me had I read his disclaimer when he started the job. I obviously had read it but it did not change my mind in asking if he would give an estimate and ask if he would consider giving me a discount. After talking to him I waited a couple of weeks to see if he was coming for an estimate. He did not. I left him a second message which he did not respond to. I obviously am changing my snow plowing service, so I sent him a letter stating so and stating why. I sent iUSPS certified mail which requires a signature because I wanted to make sure he understood #1 that I was terminating services (so he wouldn't show up this winter) #2 that his poor business manners reflects on his business. He refused receipt of the letter, which was returned to me. This tells me that indeed he does have poor business manners; and he is not interested in learning from his mistakes.
In addition, the cost turned out to be higher than I anticipated because he charged $30 for every pass of the driveway. So if we had a 9" storm and he did two passes it would cost $60. This was probably my fault for not checking out how this was going to work. I've had other people who have plowed for me who had a graduated charge where for 6" or less it would be $30. For more than 6" and less than 12" it would be $45, etc.

The crew did an excellent job on my yard. It went from a tired yard that needed work to a nice yard with good appeal. Although there was a slight miscommunication at first, the end result looks great. It is obvious when I walk around the yard that Genesis put a lot of effort into making it look neat and edged properly. Very nice job.
