Ken was very professional. He was on time and just did his job. He had this doors completed within 2 days. The door to the attic is not as sturdy but I believe the reason is that the framing around the door is old. I didn't think to ask him to remove and instll new framing. If I had I'm sure it would be a more stable.. However it works fine and I'm happy with it.
Description of Work: I had a dutch door made & installed at the top of the 2nd fl landing. This was to prevent my mother, who had Alheimer's, from falling down the stairs. It was sturdy & well contructed. The second door made was a custom door, located on the 2nd landing to the attic. At my request, Ken cut a large hole in the door & inserted a clear, plastic type opening so light would come through it.

I highly recommend them. They are experts. They know exactly what they are doing. They are reasonable and do not over charge. They're excellent! They did something the last time they were here and didn't even charge me, which is very unusual these days.

The problem to be fixed was caused by leaks at two dormers. When the roof was replaced a number of years ago, the roofers damaged the old lead flashing, and did not replace it. When called back, the roofers had fixed the problem temporarily by using caulk, but the leaks re-appeared after a few years. Several handyman and roofers who looked at the problem stated that the flashing needed to be replaced, which also required removing and replacing the shingles on the dormers. Last year, Ken had fixed this leak problem on one side of the house where the leaks were really bad. Then, he removed the old shingles on the dormer and the old flashing, installed new step flashing, and finally re-shingled the dormers. Removing the old flashing was a very tedious process, at least partially because of the caulk that had been used to stop the leak. This year, he was supposed to do the same on the other side of the house. The estimate for this year was 50% higher than last years, but the work needed to be done. After a number of delays, Ken eventually started working on the project. However, instead of removing the old leaky lead flashing, and replacing it with new step flashing, Ken decided to take a shortcut: he simply installed a single strip of flashing at the side of the dormers, on top of the shingles. When I asked about this and expressed doubts that this would fix the problem, he assured me that he had fixed the leaks in the old flashing with roof cement, and that the new flashing would definitely keep the water out, even though it did not go in between the roof shingles. Since he had done a good job the first time, I trusted his judgement. He finished the job in less than half the time last years job had taken him. During the first major rainfalls after the job completion, it became clear that his work had not fixed the problem this time. Water is again going into the wall and coming out of the shingles on the side of the house, causing ugly stains. This is clearly the result of the shortcuts he has taken this time. The extra flashing he has installed just sits on top of the shingles, and water coming down the roof can easily go under the new flashing and into holes in the old flashing. I called Ken about this problem, and he called back within 24 hours, and offered to come right away. I showed him the problem, and he agreed to install step flashing, which he did over the next two days. He also added roof cement and caulk to other areas on this side of the roof that might cause leaks, including a vent, nail heads, the rain gutter, and the bottom of the roof. While I was unhappy that the original work did not fix the leak, Ken responded very quickly when contacted about the problem, and did an excellent job trying to make sure that the leak was permanently fixed.
Description of Work: The goal of the job was to fix a leak by installing new flashing at two dormers, and replacing the shingles. Ken had done this job last year on the other side of the house, so this was supposed to be a repeat of last years work on the remaining 2 dormers. In addition, he installed 2 attic vents, and replaced two fence sections.

Ken did a fine job for us. He works by himself, so jobs may take him longer than you might expect, but it was worth it not to have strangers traipsing through our house. He did excellent work, and it shows that he cares about his reputation. We added on some work along the way, and he was able to accommodate us.
Description of Work: Replace hall ceiling, painted three rooms, built breakfast bar, replaced and painted all exterior trim, and made several miscellaneous repairs.

He has done significant work around the house, and we have used him numerous times. He always extends a quote, and his quotes are very accurate. He is very specific about what the job will entail, very good with the follow through, and he is incredibly well-priced.

He responded quickly to my phone call and set up a time for an estimate shortly after. We discussed the work to be done and I received an estimate in 2 days. The work date was set up and everything went smoothly even with some small changes. Ken's workmanship was good and he left the areas involved clean and neat. I was happy to get these little things done quickly.
Description of Work: Mr MacLeod installed 2 sets of closet shelves ,added a handrail and replaced 2 risers on my back stairs, and made an insert in my cabinets to keep the shelves from sagging.

He was friendly and knowledgeable. He came out within a few days to do an estimate for the job. The estimate was very reasonable. He worked around my work schedule and came out within approx. a week at 4pm to complete the work. Overall, I am pleased with his service and will definitely use him again!
Description of Work: I contacted Mr. Macleod to replace a wall A/C unit in my living room. This involved removing the a/c along with the old bay. Installing the new bay, which I provided and repairing the cement around the unit.
