 + -1 moreTerrific job. I originally selected this company for a quote because one of my neighbors had a great looking roof put on and told me about them. I also checked them out here on Angie's List and found excellent reports. Mr. Strahan gave me a good and accurate estimate. They removed my old roof, put on 15# felt, installed drip edge all around and on the dormers, put on new architect shingles, replaced the old pipe jacks with new ones, painted all the jacks and any visible flashing to match, installed new screens on my gutters, and all came with a great warranty. They even did extra items I needed done, small repairs, at little or no charge. The employees on the job were polite, friendly and hard workers. There was no damage done to my shrubs or yard. The cleanup was fantastic; you wouldn't know they had been there except for the great looking roof. He and his office personnel were very responsive to all my questions. And I called a lot before the job with many questions. They are extremely knowledgeable about their trade and obviously have a lot of satisfied customers by the number of good reports here.

They started early in the morning (5:30) because of the heat and left around 2:00 p.m. On the third day, I was already used to them starting so early and didn't even hear them at first, and got more sleep. I am retired and used to sleeping late in the morning. I had three estimates altogether, and even though they were the highest bidders, I chose them because of the good reviews on Angie's list. One of the other estimates was almost $2,000 less, but I didn't like their attitude and badmouthing of other companies. Mr. and Mrs. Strahan were a delight to work with and, if I live another 20 years, and they are still in business, I will call them again.
Description of Work: Removed old shingles, replaced felt, applied new shingles, cleaned gutters, payed special attention to chimney and added-on room, rolled the yard with magnets to pick up all nails, cleaned the debris every day before leaving. The workers worked like a well-oiled machine, got along and got the job done. The only complaint I have is all the cigarette smoke. :( But that's my problem!

Their prices were very competitive. We didn't find anything that we did not like about them. Their crew was a really good crew of guys that did the work.

 + -1 moreWhat a breath of fresh air...a company that gives you more than you expect. They arrived when they said they would and they were personable and professional...really nice guy. Not only did he fix our leak, but while he was up on the roof, he tacked down some loose shingles and blew the leaves off. He also gave us a break on the price, since we were on the way to his next job. We tipped him an extra $25.00 because that's what we thought his service was worth. I highly recommend this company.

 + -1 moreSorry--I included the information to go here in the first part also. This was a learning experience; get what you want done in writing and hire someone, if possible, from the same town who has his reputation on the line.
Description of Work: Mr. Strahan came and looked at the job to be done and then two of his workers came to redo the three sky lights that had been incorrectly done--There was a depressed spot where the sky lights had been and rain kept the roof inside damp where the sky lights had been. The insulation, obviously wet, was not removed. Thinking that Mr. Strahan had agreed to remove and replace the insulation I called him several times. I thought the amount paid should cover the whole thing. Though he offered to send some of his men at some point to take the insulation out, he wanted more money. I was and am desperate to have this work done, finally called and said okay--I'll pay more (in a message left on his cell phone.) I have heard nothing further. A guy who swept the pine straw off the roof told me he felt a soft spot(s) on my roof and suggested I have someone look at it. I finally found someone who was highly recommended--wish I'd known about him earlier--a roofer who had done local work. He said he wasn't on Angies' list but was on Better Business Bureau as reliable. He said the roofers who did the skylights last had put boards in the hole and the rain got around the edges.. He's going to do put some plywood on the roof and reshingle. My impression is that Mr. Strahan doesn't know what his roofers do--just what they tell him. He didn't check on the job and didn't really want to put up with dissatisfaction of any kind. I learned something important--get it in writing and find someone who cares about his reputation in the community. If one is unhappy for any reason, Mr. Strahan doesn't want to be bothered.

 + -1 moreThe crew arrived on Sunday, September 16, 2012. Removed old shingles and replaced with new. Ran a little short on materials, so returned on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 and completed job. I spoke to Mr. Strahan about the professionalism of the crew. If I wasn't having the siding replaced, we would have had a problem. The crew put several marks/scratches on the existing siding. Mr. Strahan was very concerned and said he would make it right. I told him he didn't have to since I was having it replaced. I just told him he might want to have a talk with his crew. Overall, the work on the roof was good.

Strahan told me that I would be wasting money on a new roof, because me roof was still in good condition. Well, Strahan was right. He sent a roofer to make the repairs. The roofer took only an hour or so to repair the roof. I have not had anymore leaky roof problems. Strahan & his roofers are very professional and honest. I would recommend Strahan Roofing to anyone homeowner in the Monroe, Louisiana Area.
Description of Work: Strahan Roofing was the most dependable/ professional company that I have had the opportunity to do business with. Strahan & his staff have vast experience in the roofing business. I had other roofing companies tell me that I needed a new roof. Mr. Strahan gave me an honest quote. He told me that I would be wasting money on a new roof. He was right. After Strahan Roofing made the repairs, My roof did not leak again. The roofing took only a few hours to complete the job. Description of Work: Called Thursday and talked to owner and they were suppose to have came Saturday. No one showed up or called. I called back Monday and they were to come today, when they called saying they were on there way, no one was available. The owner told me no one had to be there, he will still look at it. He left my house without looking at it; my mom called to see what happened and he was rude to her. Saying he left and will not be coming back.

 + -1 moreMr. Strahan responded to my request for an estimate promptly. He spent time on the roof and confirmed we had hail damage. He gave us several options for repair or replacement. He explained what he would do for a replacement and showed us the materials he would use. I knew he was using the proper materials from roofing research I did before his visit so I was encouraged. He provided a written estimate to give to our insurance company. After confirmation from the insurance company we signed a contract with Strahan Roofing to do the work.The materials were delivered by the work crew promptly on the day they started the roof. They put tarps around the house to catch any debris and had a trailer to load the old shingles onto. The crew did one side of the roof the first day and made sure enough was done so that there would be no problems if we had an evening rain. The second day they finished the second side of the roof, completely cleaned around the house, picked up any nails that fell with a magnetic strip, swept the garage where the material were stored, the driveway, and the patio and moved the patio furniture back. Mr. Strahan visited that evening and inspected the job. He asked if we were happy with the job. Then he asked for payment. We paid nothing prior to the work being done. My husband and I are very pleased with the job and the professional way that Mr. Strahan and his crew comported themselves. We have the nicest roof on the block! We would highly recommend Strahan Roofing.
Description of Work: The roof was completely replaced. A moisture barrier was put on. New roof vents were installed. New shingles of high quality in the color of our choice (black) were installed. New flashing around all vents. They also added screen (which I provided) around our chimney which was not on the contract but because I asked them to check while they were on the roof. All old materials were gathered and carted off. The area around the house was protected by tarps and swept after the job was complete. The roof is guaranteed for 30 years.

 + -1 moreThe work went very well, and the main work on the house was done in a day with no indication that anything had been done, the clean up was amazing and my yard looked better than before they started. It was the same way when the sunporch was done, it did take two days since the roof had to be prepped by powerwashing, but the new roof sealant was applied and completed the next afternoon.
Description of Work: Strahan Roofing totally reroofed my house as well as the sunporch at the back of the house. The quality of work has been excellent and the company stands behind their work. The main roof had sustained hail damage during the severe weather in April of 2011. The sunporch had been giving problems since installed with leaks that had become worse over time to the point that it was unusable. What I really appreciated was the care and concern shown by the company and its owner who worked hard to correct the problems on the sunporch at a reasonable price. This is a company I would go back to for any problems and am confident that the owner totally stands behind his work and would be back in an instant should something not be just right. Strahan Roofing, to me, went above and beyond the norm to make things right.
