I've posted the entire story above. Mr Steven Settoon (owner of Settoon Glass Works/The Powder Coat It Shop) does NOT keep his word. While this man obviously has had many unfortunate problems in his life since we've done business with him; we did business WITH A BUSINESS! Out of kindness, we waited. Out of compassion, we again waited. Mr Settoon got very upset when my wife explained that we've been very patient. It has been Mr. Settoon that has used his personal issues as an excuse for his business. If you're looking for a business that will take your money, gives you a product that initially looks great but immediately begins to rust, excuse after excuse than this is the business you're looking for. However, if you want good quality work, a business owner that doesn't give you an endless amount of personal excuses for his business than I highly suggest you skip even getting a bid from this business. It's definitely been a HUGE mistake for us!
Description of Work: In 2009 we purchased custom fencing from Steven Settoon of Settoon Glass Works/The Powder Coat It Shop. Steven guaranteed his workmanship to remain rust free for 5 yrs. Within one month we contacted him regarding the gate lock assembly & were assured he'd be out to repair. He came out within 2 wks but within the next week it was failing again. We again contacted Steven and this time we were told he'd order a new lock assembly. We never received it. Within six months of installation of the fencing we began contacting him regarding rust in the welds. We reminded Steven about the gate lock assembly during our conversation and we told he'd be out within the week to remedy the issues we'd been having. He never came. We continued to contact him. He set appointments & missed them. We continued to call, he continued to set & miss appointments. Steven then told us he was having marital issues and would be out as soon as he could. He never came & we continued to call. We then learned from Steven that his father had passed away. We waited then began calling him again. He again set appointments & never came. This has gone on for over 2 yrs. Each time we've spoken with him we've given him an update on the continued deteriation of the fence. At this point, it far worse that rust in the welds. Steven assured us that he stands behind his work, thanked us for being so patient, etc. Finally on 7/12/11 Steven came & picked up the fencing, said he couldn't explain why the fencing had deterioated as it had, we again reminded him about the lock gate assembly he'd promised to order/ he assured us he'd order a new one & not the same kind we'd originally purchased (and paid extra for). He thanks us for being patient and promised to 'make it right'. Also while Steven was at our home on 7/12 we explained that our pool gate alarm was tied into our home alarm and needed it back up quickly. Steven assured us he'd have it repaired & installed by the end of the following week (7/22/11). 7/22/11 came & went w/o a call from him. We kept leaving messages but never received a call back. On 8/22/11 my wife reached Steven at his shop & explained our home alarm was constantly going off & we needed it back ASAP. She also explained we were having our sons birthday party and would have numerous small children in attendance so our pool fencing was essential. Steven assured her he'd install on 8/25 but NO LATER THAN 8/26. The morning of 8/26 my wife spoke w/ Steven and he assured her that he'd have everything install as promised by the end of the day. At 5:30pm we drove to Steven's shop....imagine our disappointment when we saw our fencing laying on the ground outside of his business COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED! We left messages but received no return call. On 8/29 my wife reached Steven, explained how patient we'd been, etc. Steven was extremely upset that she 'had the nerve to bring up his personal business' (which was done by her saying 'Steven, we've been more than patient with you, how could you do this?') He rudely told her he'd 'could bring it back to our come and scatter it unrepaired all across our front yard if that's what we wanted' When she said that was not what we wanted, he snapped that he'd have our stuff back to us repaired by 9/2/11. The morning of 9/2 I reached Steven at his office, he assured me the fencing was repaired & would be installed by that afternoon. At 1:30pm my wife received a call from Steven stating that his son was having to have an MRI and he'd be unable to install the fencing but went so far as to say it was loaded on his truck & ready to install when he received the call about his son having to have the MRI. He promised to install the 1st of the week. When my wife asked if he'd be there Monday, he quickly stated that Monday was Labor Day but he'd come on Tuesday. On 9/6 & 9/7 we were suddenly calling and receiving an answering machine (which had never been the case before) we left messages, never received a return call. On 9/8 I reached Steven on his cell phone, he said he had an employee out with an infection in his leg but would be out the following day to install. I offered to come & pick up the fencing & install it myself. He insisted he & his crew would be out the following day without fail! On 9/9am I left a message for Steven stating I would be taking the day off & waiting for him to install the fencing as he'd promised WITHOUT FAIL. I took the day off because 1. We'd had so many problems. 2. He was rude to my wife & I was not about to put her in the position of having him there & being rude to her. 3. I wanted to make sure that everything was repaired as promised. Given that I'm posting this it's evident that Steven did not show up, nor did we receive a phone call nor a reply to our calls to him.
