Showed up with a large trailer of organic soil, three hours later than what he had initially indicated. First thing he tells me is that he doesn't accept credit cards. Just cash or check. I don't keep hundreds of dollars in cash around. I got my checks but he wouldn't accept a non-local check. I had used my last local check the day before. Showed him that check register with no checks left in it, but he still wouldn't accept a check from my backup bank, which is out of state. The immediate neighborhood consists of large, well landscaped, relatively expensive properties, with little turnover. He says he's sorry he didn't tell me in advance that he didn't accept credit cards, so that I could have had the required form of payment when he showed up. He suggested I go find an ATM, not appearing to care if I do or don't. We're in like it or lump it mode here. It would have taken at least a half hour from my residence, while he would apparently wait in my driveway. I asked if he couldn't be a bit more flexible about which check I paid with given the circumstances he had created. No sir-ee. He says, "maybe I'm a knucklehead". I am in disbelief. I held back my thoughts. After wasting both of our time, a little flexibility would have gone a long way and led to more purchases. He drove off. I needed more soil, shrubs, and trees for my landscaping. I'll go elsewhere, even if the soil isn't quite the same. I do not recommend doing business with this inconsiderate business owner.
