Norman did more than just install my new mailbox. He came out to my home on March 16. Before he was able to begin, he had to remove a metal post where the old mailbox post had been. He also had to cut away some branches there were deeply rooted in the area where the new mailbox was going to be installed and remove the dirt that was around the old mailbox. He then poured concrete in the hole and allowed it to set for a day. He returned to my home on March 17 and completed the installation. Again, I am very, very impressed with his work and very proud of the way my mailbox looks.
Description of Work: I contacted Norman Huggins with Anything Fixed or Assembled to install a new mailbox that I had just purchased. He was prompt in coming out to my home and, I have to say that he is not only a very nice person, his work is exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone requiring a reputable and experienced handyman. I am very, very pleased with the work he did for me.

Obtaining his company's name through Angie's List, I called him on October 3, 2012 to gage his interest in assembling the play set. He stated that he was interested, and to e-mail him the link so he could take a look at the pictures and specs and quote a price. Initially, he was very prompt, e-mailing me back the same day with a price of $450. I had to think about it for a day or two, since I received another quote for $250. However, the other installer did not hold liability insurance, which is important to me. For the sake of getting the job done, I hesitantly agreed to the $450 amount. I've made several attempts to contact the Contractor via e-mail, and recently called him the morning of October 8, 2012 to coordinate scheduling, leaving him a voicemail; no response. I mean, really. How hard is it to reply to an e-mail? I e-mailed the Contractor this morning (10/9/12) to let him know I will not need his services, due to his unresponsiveness. Through personal experience, I've learning that initial contact with a Contractor is a good indicator of what to expect from them. If I'm trying to chase him down to schedule the assembly, then what can I expect if I run into problems. This entry has been written on October 9, 2012.

I emailed this guy on 10/08/12 at 9:47 a.m. to let him know I wouldn't be able to do his job until 10/15/12. Then I get a email from him on 10/09/12 stating that I did not respond to his call or email. So I emailed him on 10/10/12 1:47 p.m. that I did respond to his email. I'm unable to answer my phone most of the day because when I'm working on a job, I try to give 100% of my time to that job. Since I emailed I didn't return his call. I think he got the $250.00 bid Monday or Tuesday

He pretty much spent alot of time bragging on himself.Did not show up on time or call .Things we thought were fixed eventually all broke again,He was a real whiner about his personal problems. It took him forever to finish.I would not let him paint or fix anything, but I did hear that he is good at assembling things.
Description of Work: On some things he fixed he did a fair job.He would not show up on time and did not call.My doors that were sticking because of the house settling were not fixed properly. The doorknobs were not fixed properly. He's is a terrible painter.

The sticking doors have been a ongoing problem with her. she told me somebody else had tried to fix them. But she lives in a raised house close to a swamp. I also closed in the under side of her house because she had a dog that would run the streets. The dog ate through the wooden and metal screen and I fixed it once without charging her. She purchased the door locks, if they broke don't know how thats my fault. I paint quite a bit, I wouldn't have any painting if I'm as bad as she stated. Yes I have a problem with being on time, but I'm mostly a one man show. I do a large amount of paperwork and I told her before I started I had other jobs going that I sub out. I have to go and check on these jobs. When she called me again in March or April, I didn't return her call. Didn't want to work for this woman again.
I called him and made the appointment. He was very prompt and didn't mind going the extra mile to help. When he saw other needs, he was glad to repair them on the spot.Norman is very professional and I have used him several times for several properties. He is very trustworthy and dependable. I call him everytime I have a repair job...nothing is too big or too small for him!!
Several years ago, I called Norman to see if he could assemble a basketball goal for my children. It was a Christmas gift that had ended up in the garage after my failed attempt to put it together. Norman came to the house, took all of the pieces we could find to his house and assembled the goal. He then delivered it and set it up for a reasonable fee. The week before Christmas 2011, I decided that Santa was going to bring a new basketball goal to our house. Norman met me at Academy, then transported the goal to his house for assembly. The finished goal was delivered to our house after our children went to bed on Christmas Eve. Normal also provided removal of the existing goal. A few months ago, Norman picked up furniture I had ordered from Pier 1. He delivered it to my house and unpacked and assembled the furniture. He also took care of the packaging materials. Each time I call Norman, he either answers the phone or responds to my message quickly. He has always been on time and has completed each job to my specifications while respecting my home and furnishings. I know I can count on Norman to do the job right.

It went very well. I am very pleased with all the jobs he has done for me.
Description of Work: Norm has done work for me for a year now and has always been fair with prices. He is very professional and can actually paint without getting a drop anywhere even on the protective sheets. He has installed bathroom facets in two baths. He has changed door handles in 10 different doors. He has painted both baths and entrance and stairway for two stories. The above figure includes painting a wall and frame of a stainglass window. I have not included dates and prices for other work. He has also done small requests like putting boxes in the attic for me and changing light bulbs. He and his son weeded a flower bed for me. I would hire him again.

Everything went very well. Norman was there within an hour of my phone call. Gave us details of what needed to be done and fixed out kitchen faucet. Very polite and nice man.
Description of Work: We had a leak in our shower, after trying to fix it ourselves, we had Norman come and check it out. He explained exactly what the problem was and told us how it needed to be fixed. He also fixed out kitchen sink faucet that no matter how much we tightened it, it never stayed tightened. Thank you so much! I am sure that we will be calling Norman and his son to come and help us again. They are very polite and nice gentlemen.

I've recently joined Angie's List and this is the first vendor that I'd contacted for several minor honey-do projects. This vendor told me that he would be out of town for one week, so I checked my calendar and gave him a date. He said, that he would contact me on the Tuesday before my requested service date to confirm. When I did not hear back from him as promised, I sent him another email in an effort to either confirm the service date or not. Unfortunately, I've never heard back from this vendor.
Description of Work: Vendor was a no show, therefore no work was performed.

Norman assembled the wooden swing set (play set) that I bought for my kids at Sam's Club. Norman has built many of these play sets, not only for us, but in the past he built them (as a contractor) for Sam's itself. The play set is huge--a 3 story tall fort plus attached swings and slide. It was a 2 day job, with Norman and his teenage son working all day the first day and until early afternoon on the 2nd day. They were prompt, efficient, courteous and did a fantastic job. It would have taken my husband weeks to build the play set during the evenings after work. Norman was worth every penny we spent. My kids are thrilled!
Description of Work: Assembled wooden swing set (play set) in back yard.
