Universal Plumbing Company Inc

I called American home shield on my rental house and had them come out to fix five plumbing issues. Universal plumbing fixed two of them and said the other three were not covered under my warranty. Then they quoted me a price of $510 to replace two faucets. After waiting 5 to 6 weeks for the faucets to come in they did not match the other faucet in the bathroom. I was given the option to replace the remaining one at a cost of $750 or more. Not only was the new Fossett didn’t match the finish of the old one it looks nothing like the old one as I was promised. Feeling stuck. I went ahead and agreed to have the three Fossetts replaced. I’m going to upload pictures of what they installed and you’ll be shocked as they appear to be $26 Fossetts from Home Depot. I called to complain and even tried to stop them mid install. I was so unsatisfied with the faucet choice that I waited six weeks for.

Horrible experience!!! The technician was very rude and condescending to my 76 year old mother who lives alone and was so afraid that she called me and had me on the phone with her until he left the house. The work was done about 6 weeks ago and now the hot water heater has this white and pink stuff coming out of the pipes and landing on top of the heater. I have asked American Home Shield to never send these people to my house again!!!!!!!!!! Beware of them and hire them at your own risk!!!!!!!!!!!

It did not go well. I told them over the phone the type of faucet I had and that I wanted to change out my sink. They arrive at 3:00 first they tell me because of the type of bathtub faucet I have the part would have to be ordered. Mind you this is why I told them the type of problem I was having over the phone including the type of part I needed. secondly the dude that came was to lazy to do the sink stating that it was too late in the day and it would take him 3 hours to do it. long story short I still had to pay 60.00 because he showed up. no work no diagnostics he should basically showed up and said I can't do it. very disappointed and feel hustled.

This has been a nightmare experience. They did not come out on time. They damaged personal property and broke my great grandmothers antique goblets. They left a mess. They used our towels to clean up water and left me with dirty towels. The straps are flimsy, they broke the floorboard and a window board and left it hanging. They cut a huge hole in a window and left it gaping. They are completely unapologetic and have a terrible attitude of “that’s how things are done.” When I showed him how other pipes were attached he said that there’s were fine that there’s no right or wrong way to do it. I tried to compromise that there are better and less good ways to install it, but they disagree even with that. The pipe that runs outside lanes away from the house and towards the street. The top of the That is damaged and broken. The new drain pan was mutilated in the installation. They are rude, unprofessional and do sloppy work.

This company was less than professional. My mother was instructed to have her bathroom counter loosened so that it could be removed to remove the small water heater in her bathroom. My mother had the counter top detached as requested. This company charged my 70 year old mother $85 to lift the counter and move it. My mother had done the work of cutting the counter top from the wall with a box cutter and detaching it from the lip holding it up, with the aid of a young man in the neighborhood. All the men had to do once they arrived was move the counter top to access the heater. Further, the repair men asked my mother if she had any rags that they could use to clean up some of the mess they made. She provided them with towels. In lieu of taking the filthy towels with them, they dropped filthy, wet towels on my mother's kitchen floor on their way out the door. My mother went back to her bathroom to inspect the work to discover these men had drained the sand filled hot water heater that was being replaced, into her shower. They left sand, wood, and other debris for my elderly mother to clean. My mother called a handy man to come and reinstall her counter top this morning. When he arrived to replace the counter top, he discovered the hot water heater had been installed such that the counter top can no longer fit on top of the cabinets. My mother called Universal and was treated horribly by the person answering the phone who continued to yell at her, "The plumber says he used the right pipes." My mother had to pay this company an additional $380 for the pan and other attachments not covered by American Home Shield. Do not use this company as they take advantage of their customers and leave your home in a total mess.

I thought they did a good job. I have used them in the past and I think they do a great job. He had to replace some lines that were leaking so it was a little bit more involved than I thought. I thought he could be able to tighten some things up, but he actually replaced some lines and he had to go find another part because it was not on his truck so he did not have it with him. It took a little bit longer than it would have. Otherwise it would have been finished, just real fast. It was some nipple flange or some such part.

Below I have listed the reasons for my harsh review: 1. Contractor was rude from the get go. 2. Work was horrible. The contractor drilled multiple extra holes in my wall that he did not need due to the fact that he didn't even have a tape measure. He gouged out a huge hole, or rather expanded a nice professional hole in my cabinet for the power cord in the most unprofessional manner I have ever seen. 3. He did not clean up anything. there was wood chips, saw dust and drywall dust on all counters and in the cabinet. 4. I contacted Lowes to complain, armed with pictures. Universal called me back and absolutely refused to accept any responsibility whatsoever. Not even an apology. I highly advise if you purchase work from Lowes or just need a contractor avoid Universal Plumbing at all cost. I have pictures of all of this, this isn't just a rant.

Assigned this company through a home warranty. Received a call from company within two hours of placing the claim. They set up an appointment for the following morning btw 8-12. Called exactly at 8 and said a technician would be on the way as soon as possible. Rick arrived promptly and immediately began to diagnose the problem. He tracked down the problem and reported it back to the company to check if it was under warranty. It turned out to be a maintenance issue with our air conditioner which was unfortunately not under warranty. We were given advice on how to attack the problem if we wanted to do it ourselves but we opted to have the professional take care of it. Rick was very personable and professional we would definitely use this company if we have future plumbing needs.

I have a home warranty and I had to pay a little deductible. It went well. The technician was really nice. He fixed the problem really quickly. I was happy with everything.

The plumber who came out was great. He was very professional and courteous. His company was contacted by my home warranty American Home Shield to fix the clog issue. However, after he ran the snake, there were still issues. He needed to go on the roof and run another snake to fix the issue. However, my home warranty did not cover this. He contacted his company to see if they could send someone out to help him and how much it would cost. The cost to run the line from the roof was an additional $95, after he collected my $75 fee. I understand paying more to have another plumber come out to help. However, they wanted to end my service there and have me miss more work and pay the full $95 at a later time. The plumber himself was great, however I don't understand their business model and how they want to keep customers if they treat them like this.

Installer installed dishwasher but left jagged sharp metal edges exposed. He said he would come back when he had the right tools and fix it. He also said he could not replace the floor trim because he did not have the right nails to put it back. He was going to fix that too. He never should back u. After several calls and cut fingers, the issue has still not been resolved. The owner/manager won't even return my calls to discuss whta can be done about this The person that answers the phone finally told me that since it was back in January, they were not goingto come and fix thier mess. I have made several calls over several months. This company is awful and I am in the process of filling a complaint with the BBB.

They installed a hot water heater that went out within 6 weeks. The plumber said it was their fault because it was not flushed and installed properly but still charged me for repairs because it had been more than 30 days.

Called in a request to my home warranty company on Sunday May 25th and they advised that it would be considered an emergency and someone from the plumbing company would call in the next few minutes. I waited until 10 PM and did not receive a call. The afternoon of May 26th my husband received two voice mails from the plumbing company with messages that lacked the full 7 digits needed to return a call. Luckily he had the phone number for the plumbing company and called them back. They scheduled someone to come out the next day and I took a day off from work to wait for them. Finally, about 3 PM a plumber arrived. He ran water in the tub and shower to confirm that I had a blockage, which I had told him was the reason for the call. He walked around the house and said that there was not a clean out for the main part of the house. He told me he could get on the roof and snake it but that the warranty didn't cover this and he didn't think he had brought enough cable to reach as far as he needed. He advised us that he was not really a drain specialist but they were busy so he came out. He advised me that I needed to have a clean out installed and that someone would call me the next morning to give me a price on doing this and could send someone out that day if I was ok with the price. I declined to let him climb on the roof since it had been raining and he didn't think he had enough cable to reach the clog. I had to pay my $75 deductible for him providing no service, when he left I was in the same shape I was when he came. The next day I took another day off from work and waited, and waited, and waited for the plumbing company to call. My husband called them several times and they told him that they had not gotten around to completing the estimate yet. I waited all day and never received a call from them. At that point I called another plumbing service who scheduled me for the next morning and that company did show up on time and clear my clog as well as located the main house clean out so that I didn't have to have another one set up. I would not recommend this company to anyone!

Universal Plumbing was to replace a faulty pump in my water well. Instead of doing so, the service representative lied on his report, claiming that the water well wasn't my primary source of water. Because of his report, American Home Shield would not cover the service. When I tried to tell AHS that the report was untrue, AHS chose to believe the lie. Note: The location where work was performed is a residence. This page would not allow me to select residence.

This was a warranty repair through American Home Shield. The plumber smoked in my house, smelled horrible, and chipped the paint in my bathtub installing new fixtures. The fixtures were basically plastic. I called Universal to complain and was told that for the warranty repair, "We are only required to meet the minimum contractor standard." When I mentioned the chipped paint, they hung up on me. Professional? Absolutely not. We will never do business with them again.

First, it two days to get a response from Universal Plumbing after a service call was submitted through American Home Shield. Then, another week to get them out to the house. The techs were very unprofessional, even cursing at each other. "I know what the f**k I'm doing." When I asked one of the techs what he thought the reason was for the bottom element on my water heater constantly going out, his response was "I don't know" This was after they were finished and preparing to leave.

We had asked that the complete line for the whole house be cleaned out but that was not done. It was quite late in the day when the plumber arrived so perhaps he was in a hurry to get finished. We asked him if he had done the whole line but he said no, he just cleaned out the part where the sink and washer drain. The next day when I tried to do laundry it backed up in the bathtubs and the toilets were stopped up. I am assuming when he routed out the upper line it just pushed the clog down further and it stopped there. We called Universal and told them what had happened and they said they would send someone out the next day and charge us some more for it. I called a different plumber and he came out and finished the job.

Everything went fine. Plumber replaced the hot and cold water valves. He also replaced the mechanical stopper. He was professional.

My bathtub faucet was leaking a steady stream of water, and we couldn't get it to stop. I have a home warranty company, and they use Universal every time we have a plumbing issue. Not only were they prompt in responding to my issues, they were very professional and got job done in a quick amount of time.

even though i still have to wait for the city to replace a valve on the water meter, universal plumbing completed the job up until that point where we are waiting for city to complete. Universal plumbing contacted the city initially and i did the follow up.

My husband chose this company and I think they were referred to him. The recommendation was great and the owner of the company is a good guy. They came quickly in a truck that had their name on it, had on company work shirts and were very professional. The workmen were prompt and timely. They diagnosed both issues very quickly and that's what we like.

It went pretty good I mean he could not seem to find a problem so he did not stay long?

I have a home warranty so it was a contract. They came out and actually determined the problem with my garbage disposal. They replaced it on the spot and I had wonderful service. I would call them again if I have a plumbing problem.

When my master bathroom toilet began overflowing, I turned the water off at the wall and telephoned my landlord who carries a home warranty insurance on the house. The warranty people had Universal Plumbing telephone me. I described how my master bath toilet had overflowed and that now, at this point, my guest bathroom was overflowing into the house at an alarming rate and my tub was filling up with sewer water. They advised me to call the water dept to have the water turned off to the house and told me they had a 24-hr time frame with which to answer an emergency call. They informed me that my problem was not enough of an emergency to come out immediately. However, two hours later, a plumber from Universal Plumbing did show up. I told him the problems (although I had done so on 3 phone calls to the plumbing company by this point) and he informed me he carried absolutely no equipment in his large panel van with which to clear the sewer line. I then telephoned Unviersal Plumbing and told them to send someone out with equipment and they told me that at this point they would have to pay workers overtime and they would not do so. The home warranty company then telephoned Universal Plumbing and told them they would pay whatever overtime the plumbing company workers would incur. Universal Plumbing refused. The next day, at 9:30a.m., two men showed up without uniforms, name tags, company logos, etc. They had to borrow tools from my husband so they could access the sewer drain valve to snake out the line. One of the workers actually entered my house smoking a cigarette! Completely unprofessional. Something that took the men 15 minutes to fix could have been done the first day. I cannot believe a "plumber" would show up to my house stating he carried no equipment. I have never seen such a shoddy, unprofessional organization as Universal Plumbing and h*** will freeze over before they are allowed to return to my house.

I have had them out here at least a half dozen times and they are always awesome. They are always good, always show up on time and always call before they come. They are always clean and I have no complaints about those guys. It only took them an hour and a half to come out on the Fourth of July. They were only here 30 minutes and did not charge me an exorbitant amount. I have never had to call them back; whatever they have fixed they have fixed it right then; I have had no callbacks. I will use them again in the future.
