Matthews Landscape

Not sure where to start to be honest but before I do, we have confirmed by two other reputable lawn care companies and representatives from the LSU Ag Center that our yard, in fact, DOES NOT HAVE ROOT ROT! No matter how many times Matthews’s states such. Reference pics show a lawn de-thatch job that was too aggressive; one pic even shows how the technician went to bare dirt before realizing such and raise the deck height but didn’t raise the height enough to continue without permanently damaging my centipede grass. Additionally, the service was conducted far too soon in the growing season with both aforementioned issues being agreed upon by the LSU Ag center. This has been nothing short of a nightmare to come home and look at each day only to be made worse by the fact Matthew’s refusing to admit any wrongdoing. Soil analysis and honest PHD level experts have proven root rot is not the culprit. Heck, wouldn’t it be conceivable for my neighboring yards to have root rot but guess what…they have green grass! One other point to throw out there is how rude and condescending the owner of Matthew’s was to my wife. Such a shame for a grown man to act that way towards any customer. Lastly, I wanted to post of a pic of what our grass typically looks like once growing season hits. Unless we completely re-sod our yard, it will never come back to looking the same and we are left with this shitshow all thanks to Matthew’s Landscape and Pest.

Horrible experience… If I could leave no stars I would!! We were a client of Matthews a couple years ago and during that time we had a few issues, including one of their employees driving in our yard trying to turn the truck around in the street; resulting in huge ruts in our yard. Shortly after that our yard was sprayed during some routine maintenance by Mathews and we noticed our lawn turning brown, called the company to ask why this was happening and they admitted to having a new employee that sprayed the wrong stuff on our yard. That was the final straw with us and we stopped using their services. Fast forward to this year and we noticed that we had some thatch build up in our yard. Called Mathews for a second chance and they happily sent someone to look at our yard, sure enough we did need to have the thatch removed. Did they tell us we had any other issues with our yard after their first initial visit, NO… We proceeded with the dethaching process and it’s been weeks, right at a month and our yard still looks like a big mud hole. We called and they said our grass is still dormant to please give it time to come back, so we did. Fast forward to today and our yard STILL look like a bomb went off!! We called again… they had one of their employees come by and during her visit she never ONCE mentioned what she thought was wrong and was actually stumped on why our yard looked so terrible. She relayed my disappointment to the owner, Garrett, who told me that we have root rot from years of neglect (which was def not the case) and there was nothing he could do. During this conversation he was very rude, laughed several times about my request for him to make this right and ultimately dismissed the problem that his business obviously caused in our yard. I find it REALLY hard to believe that my yard is the ONLY yard on our street that has root rot, it stops right at our property line and I have my original Centipede grass growing just fine in the areas they couldn’t reach with their machine and my backyard is just fine as well. If it was in fact root rot it would be spreading to my neighbors yard AND to my backyard since it’s a fast spreading fungus. Matthews likes to use the fact that weeds, fungus, root rot and ALL the horrible things that can happen to a lawn are prone to this area and it’s important to use their services to prevent these things… well, excuse me sir… my entire street has a beautiful green lawn and guess who they don’t use?! MATTHEWS!!! In fact they don’t use anyone at all… Huge mistake ever trusting this company for a second time. Don’t waste your money!!! EDITED TO ADD IMAGES OF OUR BEAUTIFUL YARD THIS TIME LAST YEAR TO COMPARE WITH THE MESS THEY MADE AND REFUSE TO MAKE RIGHT. Does this look like a yard that has years of neglect? I think not….

This company killed my entire backyard of St Augustin grass and had the nerves to tell me my yard has a brown disease. I am the only one who used this company. My yard is the only yard that looks a mess. Had the nerves to tell me the vendor that they used once before gave them bad products. Did they offer to buy seeds and grass pods for my backyard. It looks as if I had 50 dogs in my backyard or kids played basketball in my yard. So, from this day forward, I will be treating my own yard. Now I have to invest in a pallet of grass because of this company. My St. Augustin grass is gone.

I paid deposit of 1180.00 4/13/2022 and still no sod or calls or updates unless I call them. Still waiting for my landscaping. 2 months no service. Lowsy excuses. I was owner of large landscape chemical lawn company years ago and never treated my customers like this. Ridiculous. Worst company ever.

They were on time to do the job but didn't tell me about the brown disease in my yard or recommend any type of treatment so most of my St. Augustine grass died.

Killed my yard never came back!
