I still have not completed the renovation one year later, so I should have gone with them or another contractor rather than my brother-in-law! So I cannot report anything except their professionalism in the FREE planning sessions. That was quite impressive.
Description of Work: I contacted them for an estimate on renovating my bathroom. The designer came to my home , measured and talked with me about what I want. Then a team met with me to explain the plan. Everything about it was great except that I had placed a limit on the amount of money I was willing to spend. They were willing to work with me on that, but insisted that it would be necessary to use less expensive materials than I wanted to keep to the budget., so I did not use them.

The company already had other work going on at other sites, but they let us know that. Workers were sent to work on our job, and the owner checked in often. When the owner felt that some of the work needed a slight adjustment to improve the quality he pitched in and did some of the work, too. The job needed an extra two days, but the co-owners returned and completed the work on the July 4th holiday as they promised!
Description of Work: Repaired sheetrock segment that had suffered water damage from a ceiling plumbing leak. Painted that replaced segment and the rest of the kitchen, plus replaced molding between ceiling and walls, and replaced footboards.

Zero design support, certain subcontractors were abysmal (esp the painter). Painter would say they were going to be there and never show up. Quality of the work rate a C. We expected much more esp for the price we paid. The one outstanding part of the job was the tile subcontractor Sammy. His work is phenomenal. There was significant personnel issues in the firm during our reno (Designer and lead site supervisor quit). It would have gone a long way for goodwill if Jeb or someone from the firm had explained the problems and made sure we received the level of service and quality we expected (and were promised). This never happened. Be prepared for them to wine and dine you then abandon you once you sign the contract.

The first step of their process is go to their office for a meeting to discuss the Jeb Process. I tried for months to get the initial meeting but they were not available. At one time I received a letter from the Jeb company saying they were temporarily closed but I could call back a latter date if I wanted to start the process. I waited more than three months to call back. I talked with the receptionist on the phone who said they were too busy but could work me in the first week in October. I called back on 26 September to set up an appointment but the only time available was while I was at work. I was then informed that they were filled for the next three weeks. I ask to talk to Mr. Jeb and he was not there. I ask the receptionist to have him call be and he did. After a 10 to 15 minute discussion, I was informed that they were over loaded with work and was looking for a second draftsman. The conversation ended and I will not ever be using Jeb Designs for anything.

The entire process went well, with no complications. We were impressed with the professionalism of all the sub-contractors, and the attention paid to the details by the JEB team. Kristen Wysong was very patient and helpful in making suggestions for the finishes and new lighting. The cabinet work done by Copeland Cabinets was exceptional, with special attention to matching the existing cabinets in the living room. The new brick exterior blends perfectly with the original house. The on-site team of Thomas Toney and Robbie Mayberry were always responsive to our calls and handled questions promptly. In addition, some routine maintenance issues about our house were discovered during the project. There was a leak in our roof. Even though these problems were unrelated to the work that JEB had contracted, Thomas referred us to their roofing specialist, and we were able to have the repairs done right away, at our expense. Everyone was respectful of our property and our privacy thoughout the work period. The time period ran over the 6 weeks originally planned, and actually took 8 weeks.
Description of Work: Our covered patio was not being used, and we decided that a better use of the space would be to remodel it for use as a den/tv room. Included in the project was the construction and installation of a large entertainment unit, framing and placement of two windows and a door. A large picture window was removed from an interior wall, and replaced with a unique custom transom window. The new exterior wall was covered in matching brick, and an attractive canopy was installed to protect the new door and step. In addition, we replaced the lighting fixtures and added wallpaper in the adjacent dining room.

Never anyone but JEB again! I made a mistake and did not use JEB when doing my first project with my bathroom remodel. After searching around for the and quot;bestand quot; deal for my bathroom remodel enduring more problems, delays and headaches AND expenses than originally quoted, I knew that the “best” deal was not the lowest quote. I picked the wrong remodeler which was never to be used again. When I was ready to remodel my kitchen, I knew I had to take a different approach. I searched for the highest quality builder/remodeler in the city. My quest continued to be confirmed time after time that JEB is who I needed. During my first meeting with Kristen Wysong, the designer, I knew I was comfortable and ready to proceed. I really didn’t feel like I had any of my own ideas but after meeting with Kristen several times, I found out I really did! Kristen met with me time after time as I changed my mind and we explored many options. What I really liked was the plans could be projected on the big screen TV and I could see different angles and changes could be made right before my eyes by Alex, the production manager. I appreciated the personal touch of Jeb coming into our conference room and later at my home regularly to make sure I was satisfied every step of the way. I know I probably was the slowest client they ever had to decide on all the details but I never was made to feel anything but important. Having a small house in Broadmoor, I know I am probably one of the smallest kitchen remodels they have ever done, but I was treated like I had the most important job for them to do! I know it is the big and small things that count. After we had the plans all set, we did not start the project until all parts were ordered and ready to go. I was provided with a schedule of what would happen when and guess what! It happened just like they said! Thomas was my project manager and kept in touch with me and guided my project to completion. He made sure that my kitchen and surrounding area was kept clean every day and watched over the workers. As it happened, I had another issue that came up that had nothing to do with my kitchen during my remodel- an air conditioner replacement. Knowing Thomas would be there during the installation, I had no worries! Another regular face on the job is Robbie since he knows everything about construction. So, my words to those contemplating who to get to do their work, I recommend you consider and select JEB. Some think he is the most expensive in town but when it comes down to it, he isn’t. Promise. Top quality work and no additional costs as you go along and the schedule is firm. Give Katy, the Marketing Manager, a call. She will start the process for you! I have several other projects I plan to be done on my house and without a doubt, JEB will be doing it! Hands down!
Description of Work: My kitchen was gutted to the studs and completely redone! New walls, cabinets, floor, lights, counter tops, sink EVERYTHING!

After selecting Jeb to remodel my home, we started with a list of work to be performed. Everything looks like it was going to be a great project and then Jeb started taking out work due to price. In the beginning It's was all going to be done with in my price but as we worked together on the scope, he kept changing the price and removing things. FIRST RED FLAG! I was so eager to get this done that I just understood things happen. We even did some of the work ourselves. NEXT RED FLAG! Work started and then the slab for the new room was off. NEXT RED FLAG! Not real sure how to handle, just continue with hopes everything would be ok. I was told later the roofer caused a problem with witling at women and Jeb had to get a new roofer. I asked that no one smoke in the house and found smokers butts on the new slab. I was nice and let them use the spare bathroom instead of a pot of potty and they tore up the floor. Jeb never repair and didn't seem to care. New stove arrived and they messed up my new floor and again, they didn't care. We finally moved in and found some new problems. Loving my house, and I get ready to turn on the A/C. Since I could not find the condensation pipe that is needed for the A/C, I called Jeb. Jeb told me, I'm sure they did add this pipe and it's OK to turn on your A/C. WRONG! NO pipe was put in and then water from the A/C unit is coming out of my smoke detector in my new room just added. I called Jeb and he had someone come out to reroute the water. Don’t care about any water damage. Just completely CRAZY! I'm still trying to get other things fixed and it just contiunes. I have water that comes down the outside wall in my at the new room windows and I call Jeb many times on this. Jeb sends a gutter person out to resolve the problem and it still leaks. I ran out of my warranty and he just blows me off. I try writing the BBB and got nothing. Could not even get the company wrote up as a flag as a complaint made on them. Wrote the Attorney General of Louisiana and they do nothing. I only write now to save others from hiring someone who will take you to a place that the meaning of and quot;Contractor from H***and quot; comes to play. BEWARE!!!!!!!
Description of Work: After attending the "Tour of Homes" remodelers around town, I selected Jeb Breithaupt Design/Build, Inc. to remodel my home. In the beginning, the slab (foundation that was poured) was off. I had to make a decision on how to proceed with the walls. That should have been the first RED Flag. The work was substandard and not all work was resolved to my expectations. At the time I did not live in the house and yet they could not follow the simple rules of the house. The workers smoked in my house, they didn’t clean up after their selves and they tore up my bathroom floor. I try to get various problems resolved and it appears every time I would try to talk the Jeb about these problems, he had to leave. He would deliberately avoid hearing any problems. This company is very hard to work with and just didn't seem to care. Everything may look great but it's all the hidden problems you find out later. BEWARE!!!!!!!

Response from JEB Design/Build, LLC
Ms. (Member name removed) comments relate to a project done nearly 8 years ago. While we strive to please every customer and have always gone farther than the law requires us to, there are inevitably going to be some projects that leave unhappy customers. Despite our best efforts, (Member name removed) was apparently never satisfied with the work we did for her. Although we did the best we could to please her, she has her version of the project and we have ours. The two versions will never coincide. It is important to note, however, that beginning in 2008, we have done a "Guild Quality" post-project satisfaction survey two months after we complete every project. In 2009 and 2011, JEB Design/Build, LLC received awards for the high level of our clients' satisfaction. Our customers noted "complete satisfaction" over 90% of the time, when the national average for such surveys was a satisfaction rating at only 60%.

They were always late for appointments or wanting to reschedule. They insisted on us coming to their office for every little thing. They also insisted that my husband be present for every meeting, which was very inconvenient. After coming up with a great design and getting all the subs lined up they decided that they could not do the work for the price we had agreed upon. We knew that the price was very high, but they promised us it would be done quickly and without us having to lift a finger. So when they said it couldn't be done for that amount of money, I was in shock. They wanted me to pay an additional $2,200 even though I had not changed or added a thing. I wanted them to honor the contract that we had all signed. Eventually the owner called me and told me that they would not be doing any work for us. I was expecting to start the remodel any day and they suddenly bailed out on me. I was devastated! We had wasted over 3 months with them and now we had nothing to show for it. They did agree to refund my deposit and let us keep the designs, but that really didn't help me. After about a month of worrying about what I was going to do, I made up my mind that I could do this project myself. Yes, it would be more work on me, but I was sure I could get it done for much less than they were going to charge. I've just finished the project and I got it all done for just under $10,000. It was a blessing in disguise after all.
Description of Work: Close in a cased opening in breakfast room, add craft area on kitchen side of wall, install cabinets with granite and paint to match existing kitchen. On the living room side of the wall all they would do is to tape, float and paint. In the master bathroom they were going to remove our bath tub and replace it with a window bench seating area, lay tile over existing stained concrete and paint the entire bathroom. They were going to charge between $32,000 and $36,000. We signed a contract agreeing on that work for that price.

Response from JEB Design/Build, LLC
We are confused about why [member name removed] would even rate our work since when the project cost estimate was only presented, the [member name removed] decided they wanted to do the project themselves instead of contracting with JEB Design/Build, LLC. That's fine, of course, but such a decision should not generate a rating of our firm. When the [member name removed] decided to do the work themselves, JEB Design/Build, LLC even refunded the design fee in its entirety. In other words, no work was done and no charges were made to the [member name removed].

Working with JEB Design/Build was a positive experience from the initial meeting to the final meeting. The designing aspect was fun and enjoyable. They took our ideas and turned them into surprising results from the inside out. We felt very included with every step of the process, especially when viewing the 3D pictures so we could visually see the end result. We could change out windows and colors and see it right there in the office. The artistic and architectural talent of Jeb and his team played a vital role in making sure we keep the integrity of the house. Thomas and Robbie are a great supportive team that kept the project lighthearted and on track. I was very impressed by their ability to give us a daily briefing on what to expect, who to expect to be at my home, and when. I appreciated the fact that they were physically here during crucial steps, like laying the foundation. Because of that, the quality of the work done on unseen things, like foundation and the structure, are outstanding. It was also evident that there was a good harmony between the subs and the project manager and us. They knew our names and were always respectful. Overall we would love to recommend JEB Design Build to our friends and family.

Overall, using Jeb is like pressing the "EASY" button for home design. Essentially, we told him what we wanted and he designed the entire project to our specifications. He drew up the blueprints. We approved every single item in the project list. Next thing we put down our down payment and he poured the foundation slab and built out the wooden framework. Our home is now a real designer showplace. There were a few hiccups, but Jeb and his staff handled everything very professionally and quickly. We had a lot of electrical work done and one time our fire alarm went off, but Jeb had an electrician out by 7:30AM next morning. Home design is not an exact science, so there is a bit of trial and error as there would be in any project of the magnitude of a home addition, but Jeb really cares. His name goes on his product and his reputation truly speaks for itself. Of note are the beautiful hand-wrought iron doors Jeb created for the entrance to our addition. His design was something beyond beautiful. I would definitely recommend him for any home design and/or remodelling work and we are going to use him for a second addition to our home along with a bathroom remodel. Working with the entire Jeb Design/Build team has been a real pleasure. Jeb has meticulous attention to detail and a great way of explaining everything that was being accomplished.
Description of Work: Jeb designed a 968sf addition to our home to include a hallway, library/study, bathroom and workshop. Jeb engineered the entire project, organized the craftsmen to work on the house and build the addition. It is an amazing set of rooms! Jeb has a great deal of integrity, design skills, and project management which enhances any project, but ours was especially well done. We have already received a great deal of comments from friends and neighbors on how beautiful our addition is. The brick work was outstanding and matched our existing brickwork. The floors and cabinetry and works of art. The bathroom looks too pretty to use, but you can! The workshop is professional and just very functional for the types of hobbies and woodworking to be performed there. My favorite room is the library. Jeb just did an outstanding job. His staff coordinated with us every step of the way...we truly are in daily contact. He received all approvals/permits from our home owner's association, to the electrical, gas, and telephone companies...even the city of Shreveport. He expertly managed the craftsmen from the plumbing, foundation, woodworking, glass installation, electrical. The entire experience was outstanding.

Overall went very well. An upset was two scratches on the tub. Whoever opened it out of the box must have scratched with their knife. JEB was willing to remove it if it could not be buffed out to my satisfaction. The buffing went fine and can not tell a scratch was there.
Description of Work: Gutted and remodeled master bath and closet. Removed two walk in closets and built one large walk in..
