Very nice people--prices were highest of all the bids i received--by a big margin. I'm retired on a fixed income , so i couldn't afford the tariff.

We considered three different companies, all A-rated on Angie's List. We got estimates from all three and chose to work with Rutherford Painting, even though their estimate was not the lowest (nor was it the highest). David Rutherford visited and was very helpful discussing with us some possibilities concerning painting (mostly interior) and some minor repairs. We were selling our home, so the decisions were difficult and depended heavily on cost. David spent several hours with us, was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and imaginative. Many of our own ideas were naive and he suggested some practical things to consider. The work was to be done several weeks after our visit at a time when we would have vacated the premises --- we'd be living in Germany by then and would have to rely on someone to do good work in our absence. So we really trusted this company. We made an appointment to get started In first week of our departure, but something happened --- we found a potential buyer who wanted to do all the repairs and improvements himself. This became a difficult decision, since if we tried to work with this buyer but the deal fell through, we'd be in Germany and have to start over in absentia. We told David our dilemma and he held our tentative appointment as long as he could. We risked it --- we decided to leave town without doing repairs and had to cancel David's appointment at the last minute, leaving him in the lurch. But he was very understanding and gracious about it, even though we probably messed up his schedule. Although I can't evaluate any work by the company (since none was done), I'd try to use them in a similar situation. In other words, I recommend them.

The quality of the work was very good. I was very impressed with the drywall repair, as I was concerned it could not be repaired without being noticeable. The painting was done well and quickly, and the installation of the molding looks good. The contractor also advised ways to save money on the repair portion.

Great quality, extremely responsive. I won't use any one else

He takes great pride in his work. His workers showed up on time everyday. They didn't skip corners. Cleaned up after themselves daily.

The initial evaluation of the job was conducted by Mr. Harkey who was very professional as he did the walkthrough. However, since painting wasn't his side of the business, he then referred the job to his partner Mr. Rutherford once he got back into town. Mr. Rutherford then called to discuss the quote; again very professional. Long story short, the price struck us as exceptionally high ($2K for a master bedroom and master bath; walls and ceilings) but ultimately determined it to be right around the market standard. (My wife and I typically do our own painting and were not prepared for a quote that would ring in over 10x the cost of materials alone. We understand you have to factor in labor but...wow). Anyway, after discussing the details, I opted to reduce the job to just the most complicated ceiling (master bedroom) and negotiated a price of $400 ($50 less than their quote). I was told they should be out later that week at the earliest or the following which was most likely. It has been a month. No calls and no one bothered to show up. For a business that initially appeared very professional, I am very disappointed. They clearly have my contact information because they called to follow up in the first place. I suppose they just decided I wasn't worth their time.

Did not go at all... After six weeks, and not even a courtesy phone call, would not consider this contractor for any services.

Very punctual and professional service. They actually handled a few minor additions with no charge which I noticed after they initially began. I had intended to pay more for these additions which included washing down my front porch while they washer was already running in the same general area and painting trim in a couple areas. The interior painting included surface repairs and texturing in a few areas as well.

Their quality was fantastic. To do it right it actually takes a lot of time because painting is not the big part of painting, standing is the big part of painting. So they were doing this detail work for like two weeks and they were for like four days actually painting, and as a result the work looks incredible. It is just you have to get used to them being there and not painting, they are actually doing the prep work to make the painting look great. They did what they had to do.

I would give him A's all the way across. The prepping was alot of work as they hadn't been done in over 20 years. They sanded them down to the natural wood before they painted and it was great looks brand new now. Everyone that has them do work they have them do work again for them. They are awesome. It was amazing.
